  1. My first time in Aqua will be on our next cruise but I did stay in a suite on the reflection in March and I have to say blu is the advantage over concierge. My wife and I ate at the MDR one night that last cruise and really disliked it. The rest of the time we dined in blu. As far as cost I believe Aqua is more than concierge depending on when you try to book of course. I wouldn't do concierge again if I had a choice.

  2. Heaven forbid that one should go on a cruise and not be able to get any limes. Its an absolute disgrace and the Executive Head Chef should be severely chastised.

Back in the day this would never have happened. Soon we will get cruisers coming home after their seven day sojourn with scurvy. I can think of nothing worse than drinking an ice cold Corona in the evening sun with a wedge of lime. Give me strength.

Your sarcasm is well noted. No reason to be a Jerk about it. By the way it wouldn't be the head chef who head should roll it would roll it would be the food and beverage manager who places orders. Like I said it was puzzling to me and now I have my answer as to why and how widespread the issue is. Not a big issue, there are plenty of drinks that can be had that don't require a lime.

  3. Can somebody please explain to me how a cruise ship sets sail for 2 consecutive sailings without any limes. I am currently on the Reflection and there is not a single lime to be had anywhere on the ship. So far I have had a mojito with lemon and offered a corona with lemon. Oh well, other than that the ship and cruise have been absolutely amazing.

  4. My wife is asking me to post this...

She has a 1875 watt iconic hair dryer and wants to know if the hair dryer in the sky suite is comparable? She has very long hair and was wondering if the women out there would recommend bring hers or using Celebrity's?

  5. I didn't realize that Celebrity made towel animals. Guess if you really want them each day then you might want to try sailing on Carnival.

We had towel animals on Silhouette last month, but I am not a fan. I don't like the idea of the steward ferreting through my belongings to accessorize his creation. Different people like different things, and I think the cabin steward has other more important tasks to be getting on with.

Really, you wouldn't cruiseCelebrity again because there were no towel animals? It certainly wouldn't make or break a cruise for me.

It really is amazing how condescending people are and how little people pay attention on this board. The OP did not make a big deal out of this and no where in the post do I read that because of towel animals would they not sail with Celebrity again. It depends on the cabin steward. Some make them some don't. So apparently the ones that do MUST HAVE COME FROM CARNIVAL right . Thank you for your review mdhaugh!

  6. Nick,

I am on the same cruise as you and I did this same exact itinerary last year on the Reflection. The cruise when we first leave does get a bit rocky but it smooths out the closer to Puerto Rico we get. After Puerto Rico it is smooth sailing. I have heard that if you are going to take motion sickness stuff that you should start before the ship leaves rather than waiting for the symptoms to be felt. They also make patches and the ginger candies also work. This will be cruise 8 for us and with the exception of the Allure of the Seas I didn't feel any more motion on any of the other ships.

P.S.- if you haven't done so already make sure you head over the the "Celebrity Connections" thread for our cruise and make sure to join us at the sunset bar for the sail away.

  7. I have sailed on all three. I wouldn't say that Celebrity is less kid friendly but there are definitely more activities for them on the other lines. That being said I wouldn't hesitate to bring my young son on another cruise with Celebrity. The staff are always helpful and understanding when it comes to children.

  8. Last march when I traveled on the Reflection they actually took our bottles at Security labeled them with our state room and delivered them later on that night. I'm not sure if they always do that in Miami but I was told it was due to it being spring break.

  9. Bvlgari toiletries. The best.

What kind of toiletries? Shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, lotion, Body wash? Is it more of a feminine smell or more unisex like the lemon grass stuff?

    Thanks

  10. I have the same issue for my Reflection cruise. I wonder if I can take my old iPhone to Tmobile and have it unlocked and since they have plans without contracts? We are leaving our almost 2 year old with his grandparents for the week and would love to be able to answer any questions or check in on him via text.

  11. I don't think butler will bring dinner to room from specialty restaurants. (Although I suppose there is always a way where money is involved). We eat dinner every night in our room, and have always had regular mdr food. Butler will bring food by course if u want. We just have it all brought at once, but they gladly will serve courses.

Do you order earlier in the day and they bring it to you whenever you want to have dinner (so long as the MDR is still serving)? I too would love to know if we can have drinks also?

  12. Hi,

There is a small overhang on 1214 on Reflection, mostly it is in the sun. You could partially see the balconies directly below us, but not all of them. I would imagine the balconies above us could also see part of our balcony, but never is a problem. The window washing equipment is anchored on the starboard side of deck 11, and 12 is right underneath the outside eating area of oceanview cafe.

It has great aft and side views, and like I said, the least motion that we have had in an aft S1, compared to cruises we are in the same cabin location on Solstice, Equinox, and Eclipse on prior cruises.

Also, since there is no aft elevators, you can at least walk off 10 calories a day walking back to the cabin!

Have a great trip and enjoy yourselves.

You wouldn't have any pictures that you would be willing to share by any chance?

  13. Hi,

We just got off Reflection yesterday, and we had cabin 1214, the aft sky suite 1 starboard cabin.

We had no noise from oceanview café, or sunset bar, no soot, and only real vibrations was when docking.

There are two support poles in the room, but it does not interfere with walking around. There is less closet space in this room than in the regular sky suite 2 cabins or aqua class suites that are either under the pool or oceanvew café which we stayed on a previous Reflection cruise.

The butler Nelson, and his assistant Leslie were just wonderful. We also switched out the bottle of sparkling wine for a bottle of Kendall Jackson pinot noir which we took to the dining room. He also brought whatever we wanted and left as afternoon appetizers, such as fruit and cheese. shrimp cocktail, cookies etc. Just ask, and it was always greeted with a smile, and what else could they do for you.

We also ate in the specialty restaurants(you get one free with your suite)

and also ate in Blu for breakfast sometimes, as well as a couple of dinners.

During our cruise, they offered discounts on the specialty dining, as I guess that they had lots of open spaces.

Enjoy yourselves and have a wonderful cruise.

Thank you for the feed back. How much privacy was there on the balcony? Also is there any overhang at all on the balcony? I have seen pictures where the person on the balcony below can see your entire balcony. I'm not sure if it was just the angle of the picture or not.

  14. I think an aft corner is perfect. Great view, quiet location. We love aft cabins but have not yet been able to do a S1. Met a couple on their honeymoon on our last cruise- they were in the S1 starboard side and loved it.

    Thanks for the input!

  15. So my wife and I will be on the Reflection 3/22 and last night we decided to go for broke and book our first suite. We chose a s1 aft corner (1214). We have never been in a aft balcony before either. We though about a Aqua Suite but from what I read the ones on deck 12 are prone to noise due to its proximity to ocean view and the pool. We are both in our early thirties so walking to the back is not an issue for us.

My question is would you have gone for the Aqua suite or the aft sky? Really nervous about trying to make this a memorable vacation for us.

    Thanks

  16. My wife and I took our 10 month old on the Reflection last year and had a great time. We were unable to use the sitter service because he was too you but that's what grandpa was for. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us to the point where they puréed fresh baby food for him. We got an alcove for 2 days and rented out (free) some toys from the kids area and he had a ball on the grass. Take advantage of the sitter service and have a formal night to yourself. Get a small inflatable pool for your child and the staff will have no problem filling it. Most of adjust your expectations on what you are going to be able to do and you will have a great time. We understood that there may be nights that we couldn't eat at the MDR and had a great time at the buffet. Enjoy.

  17. One more VERY important thing to remember is to disable your voice mail if you plan on keeping your phone on during the cruise. If you have your phone ON while you are at sea and somebody calls you will still incur charges even if you just let the call go to voice mail.

  18. Thank you all for your feedback. Yes, the reason we chose the room we did was it was the least expensive balcony without any obstruction. I think you guys have convinced me to pass on the upgrade and stick with the room I already have. I was on the Reflection last year and had a CC room and didn't really see the benefits other than the location. I was just worried about being on a lower deck so close to the front of the ship.

  19. So currently my wife an I are booked in a 2B Veranda (6138) on the Reflection and we recently learned that we could use our My Cruise Rewards Points for a cruise discount or onboard credit of $750. I am torn as to whether or not to upgrade our room into a better category or use the extra money for things such as shore excursions that we weren't going to be able to take, casino, specialty restaurant or spa treatments for the wife. What would you all do?
