We are scheduled for a back to back cruise in Nov-Dec.  One cruise is 10 days and the other is 11 days.  This appears to fall under the new guidelines for 16 days or under cruises released yesterday, but now I wonder if HAL will consider our b2b cruises as 1 cruise of 21 days, instead of the 2 individual cruises - which is how we booked them.  If so, then we will still need the negative COVID test.  So confusing and no one at HAL has an answer.

We're waiting for a definitive answer to the b2b question too.  Ours was booked as a collector cruise, but it's still a b2b.

  2. All of the rigmarole surrounding COVID is what gives me the most pause concerning whether or not to cruise.  Will they still be demanding vaccination?  testing?  how much testing?  Are they gonna make you mask up again?  Inside?  Just in the shows?  Inside and outside? Between bites or sips?   Nope, that is not a vacation.

I get the part about needing to stay quarantined if you get sick; that makes sense; that has always made sense.

Considering that over 70% in the UShas been vaccinated and the other developed countries tend to have an even higher percentage. It would not appear to be a major reason. Maybe one of the more minor ones, but biggest not really.

There were 3 reasons that Taters presented (and I quoted), not just vaccination.  I believe those are the 3 biggest reasons ships are not sailing full.  You're still free to disagree, of course.

A lot of potential passengers aren't cruising because they are required to be vaccinated against Covid.

Another batch of potential passengers aren't going to cruise until mask mandates go away.

Traveling is hard these days with frequent airline schedule shuffling and cancellations, and some folks aren't interested in dealing with this scenario.

There are a lot of reasons why folks aren't cruising right now, but IMHO, these are just a few of the reasons that ships are sailing below capacity.

I'd say they're the biggest reasons that ships aren't sailing full.

Your DH’s travel jacket sounds more appropriate than the khaki fishing vest ( with pockets all over it) that some guy wore to the MDR on our first Gala night. (It stuck out so much that DH noticed.)

The guy in the khaki fishing vest with pockets all over it was my husband; your husband was just jealous 😉

Okay, I'm totally lying, but my husband does have a fishing vest EXACTLY like that, but he probably wouldn't wear it for gala night, unless he first had it cleaned to get the fish guts off of it.🤪

Just because people ask a question, doesn't mean you need to answer.  I think mask wearing is quite easy to figure out.  I can't even imagine someone asking me why I'm wearing a mask, no matter where it is, in my house, in my car, at the market.  Nobody's business really.

I think the same is true of not wearing a mask.  Absolutely no one's business, and to each his or her own.
