Nice upgrade! Not everyone loves the infinite veranda, but hopefully it will work well for you. I was in one for 2 nights and enjoyed it. It has some nice features and the cabins are really nice - the bathrooms are the best I've seen on a ship (and you will have the great AQ shower!).

I have been reading a lot about the Infinity Verandas.  I think we will like it much better than the one we had!

  2. vtcruising thanks so much for replying.  We originally had one of those balcony rooms near the front with the round cutout window balcony.  I wasn't thrilled about that and this morning when we were given the chance to upgrade for just a little more we jumped at the chance.  We have sailed in Aqua Class before and just loved it.  Thanks again for pointing out or room!

You don't need the WiFi pack to access the APP

Someone above said it is $7.00 per day to use the app.  So if I am understanding this correctly you don't need a wifi plan to use the app but it will cost you $7.00 per day...correct?

  4. Thank you! We always have a regular balcony and didn't realize we booked this months ago. After figuring out which one we had I was worried it would be dark. Though I know my cruise will be amazing no matter what we were just curious.

  5. I am wondering if anyone can give me some insight. Cabin 8108 looks like the balcony doesn't have a full view, kind of like a circle. How is this cabin? Never been in a balcony like this before and am wondering if I will like it.

  6. I have a CapOne chip card and I spoke with Capital One and they said I should use my cash advance pin. The card would then function as a true chip & pin in Europe. The transactions would be credit transactions, not cash advances, I was assured. I will find out for sure in September.

When I talked to Capital One last month they told me it would be considered cash advances and fianance charges would start as soon as I made the transaction. Fees were high. So we didn't do it, instead used our ATM card. Wonder why you got different info.

  7. Was just in Prague. We needed Czech Crowns, not euros. If you find a place that will take euros they will charge a huge exchange rate. Germany. Luxemburg and Paris-euros. London - pounds. We used our Capital One card for charing most things, no international fees. Beware, some smaller establishments and cafes have a minimum for credit card purchases.

  8. Just returned today from London and was in Prague, Germany and Paris. Was well aware of the pickpocketers. All turned out well, I kept my purse across the front of me and didn't carry anything of value. It was amazing how many young girls walk around with their phone in their back pockets. It's like advertising!

  9. Have a great trip Rosieo. My trip is the first week of November so I will be learning a lot from your postings.

If I missed anything in the other thread or if you have questions please feel free to ask. I'm really not sure how good the connection will be on the ship but I'm sure I'll check. Get excited! I think you are going to love it, we are so far.

  10. Bon voyage and have a great cruise.

Please let us know afterwards how it went as well as all the pros and cons.

    TIA.

Thank you! As long as I have wifi along the way I will be posting pics and info on my website and blog. I'll post that link later in case anyone is interested.

  11. In regard to OBC - be aware that this credit can only be used onboard and not in the originating city for optional excursions. We began our trip in Prague, so (not being onboard yet) we could not use OBC for the optional Prague by Night tour, but paid for it on the shore excursion website. Once on board the Alsvin, however, we could use the OBC for any shore excursion thereafter, even those in Paris.

Viking is very explicit about how OBC can be used: optional excursions made while on the ship, drinks apart from those included with lunch or dinner, laundry and purchases from the very limited gift nook.

Gratuities cannot be paid with OBC.

We are concerned because some of the excursions are already sold out so there is no chance for us to purchase them onboard. Oh well, what can we do! Not much at this point. We leave shortly for the Prague to Paris trip and are very excited. Can you please tell me how long the ride is from Prague to the ship and also how long it is from the ship to Paris. I have heard it is quite a drive but no one has been able to tell me how long. Thanks!

  12. We're actually cruising on Celebrity in a week, two weeks Yokohama to Vancouver. We booked an Aqua Class cabin specifically for the BLU dining room experience. We'll be new to it, but am curious if anyone out there has eaten there. Thoughts?

We have several times. We loved it!

  13. goldenrod, life is short! You are 72, seem healthy, can afford a long cruise and are happily married for 50 years. Celebrate what life has given you. What if tomorrow you have a heart attack and die, do you really want your spouse remembering the horrible experience you had or maybe, just maybe you could have tried to enjoy it, good food is waiting for you at home, and then your spouse could have had your last memories with you wonderful ones. Life is not guaranteed. Don't dwell on things you can't change. I am hoping and praying that I make it to 72, can afford nice trips and still have my spouse around to enjoy our 50th.
