  1. They didn't know the guy was missing for over two hours. He jumped deliberately with the intent to drown. There was no "attempting to rescue a person from drowning". They were quite aware that the were looking for a body to recover.

Regardless of the intent of the crew member, isn't it possible that once he was alone, in the water, at sea, he might have had second thoughts? Assuming that they were only looking for a body is pretty cold in my opinion.

  2. We also have over 27 cruises on Princess going back over twenty years and have never, repeat never seen a passenger being overly rude to a crew member. Not to say it doesn't happen. But for someone to go and jump overboard is some place off the chart in troubled behavior.

I sincerely hope we never see it.

Lucky you... I see it on nearly every cruise we take. Some people act as though they're entitled to everything they want simply because they've paid to be onboard.

  3. It is sad and my prayers are with the family. But counselors on ships, you can't be serious. Should the company I work for provide counselors because my work is stressful? Of course not. If someone is intent on jumping off a ship and killing themselves there is nothing anyone can do.

So, you're saying that the company that you work for would not provide counseling if one of your co-workers committed suicide? Wow, I'm glad I don't work where you do!

  4. While the question has been answered, I'll throw my 2 cents in.

I've always asked Stewart, and of course if he's not there, the steward ;) for a sharps container when we first meet him. Have always gotten one within minutes (even after we tell him there's no rush).

    Enjoy your cruise.

    Ditto

  5.

The staff says there are 50 seats. That's probably about right. Full week reservations are only done for 10%

I'm not sure about the accuracy of this information. On our last cruise on CB in Oct. I was told my the manager in charge of Sanctuary that half of the total seats were kept open for daily bookings. That would translate to 25 loungers that could be booked for an entire cruise, not 5 as stated by the OP.

  6. It's first come first serve, and booking begins on embarkation day.. If its something you think you will want, you need to book early. I wouldnt recommend going day of because you will likely be disappointed. Most book for the entire cruise.

But in all honesty, if you are not 'lounger types' I don't see the appeal. There is no pool in the sanctuary.. It's service and ambiance.

You may want to have a tour once inboard before you decide.

    Good luck!

Princess's stated policy regarding Sanctuary is that half of the available loungers will be reserved for daily (or 1/2 day) rentals. The rest may be sold for the entire cruise. On our last cruise (CB Oct. '12) I went to Sanctuary immediately upon boarding only to be told that they were completely booked for the entire cruise. Not being one to take "no" for an answer I questioned the employee on duty and it was eventually revealed that only half of the loungers had been rented for the entire cruise. I asked to speak to the Maitre 'd and by a combination of begging and playing the "suite/elite" card was able to secure a pair of loungers for the duration of the cruise.

  8. They should not search your bag without you there! They could lay themselves open to charges of theft, if you claimed something else was missing from your bag! Know they have a stated alcohol policy which should be adhered to by passengers but that does not excuse the cruiseline security staff going into anyone's bag.

Exactly how is this any different than TSA opening your bag? If one breaks the stated rules, one should expect to be caught. I get the impression that the OP understood this and was merely reporting the facts.

  9. My wife and I are both non smokers. We enjoyed cruising on Princess before the policy change and will continue to enjoy cruising with them with the new policy. I do hope, however, that Princess will continue their practice of having several smoke free evenings in the casino each cruise; I do enjoy the tables, but some nights it's impossible to breathe in there!

  10. My wife and I are sailing on Caribbean Princess in January '11. I just changed my booking from category PH (Riviera Deck) to category VS (Emerald Deck) largely due to posts I read here that warned of excessive noise in the Riviera Deck suites. Has anyone stayed in Suite E732 on Caribbean? I'd appreciate any information you can supply about balcony size, wake noise or anything else of note. Thanks!
