I live in Coarsegold, CA, and I have heard that gold flakes can still be panned in Coarsegold Creek. Plan a visit to Yosemite and stop by! (Not this week since it's still closed do to the Ferguson fire.)

You half to be careful as most apparently 'free' places to pan may be subject to a recorded mining claim. You might be met at gunpoint by the claim owner. (I used to work the taxes on mining claims in the assessor's office. The claims are enough of a property taxed.)
If you are taking gold from someone's claim, that is theft.

On one of my cruises, one of my table mates was from India and vegetarian. The head waiter would also find out what they were serving the crew-many of them vegetarian. Sometimes that was brought instead of the 'vegetarian' items on the menu.

At least an hour before sailing. At that time they have to send the sailing 'list' to the government. I would be on by lunch and enjoying the ship.

I did a 'coast to coast' (Florida to California) on the Coral Princess and I loved it. The daily lectures (on the canal and other topics) were great and repeated on the tv system. The commentary through the canal was super.

I am 33 days out and still to be assigned. Luggage tag says "to be assigned".

I am taking my first Princess cruise in September and am a little concerned about the tie rule on formal nights.
I do like to dress up and have a blazer and sports jackets with dress shirts.
I cannot do up my top shirt button due to medical issues so I cannot wear a tie.
I am a rule follower and I don’t want to look out of place.
I hope someone who has sailed with Princess can offer me some advice.
Between diabetes and arthritis I have the same problem. Jacket with dress shirt is all I do. No tie, either (and Maitre D' did not blink an eye.

I believe you can bring your on on board. Tape the pack as you will have to wheel it with/on your carry on.

You or your TA will have to send Princess a copy of your DD214 (they will return it). Once Princess has 'tagged' you as a veteran, it will automatically be applied to future cruises. This must be done BEFORE the cruise. Once you are at the cruise for boarding it will be too late.
On the Princess website, search for Military Cruise Benefit.

You not see them. They were RFID that you swiped, rather than insert.

Admittedly a different ship, but on my cruise on the Majestic Princess they would NOT punch the cruise card. The new ships have a technology built into the card that can get wiped out by punching. They did, however, provide a free plastic pouch to attach to your lanyard to put the card in.

I had a similar view of cross contamination potential on one of my Princess cruises. I asked him to get his supervisor. When I talked to him, the 'cook' was taken back to the kitchen and talked to. The supervisor than came out and thanked me!

The slot machines will take cash (bills not coins). You will still have to create an account on your cruise card to collect any winnings.

A good friend of mine lives about 15 miles away from town. She took me to Dink's Taxi (Route 66) for lobster roll and blueberry pie.

Two things can delay elite laundry.
1. Number of Elites
2. Turn around day and mid 'week' on a week cruise---when they change all linens.

One of my guides in Alaska said do NOT get the King Crab Legs.....it will be frozen. Get Dungeness crab, it will be fresh.

Boarded Majestic Princess yesterday1. Got blue bag (room attendant -indicated they got them TODAY.
2. YES, Door tags still present with both name and frequent cruiser status (by color)
3. Ship is beautiful. Love the huge atrium.
4. Was able to get 'all you want' photo package for two week cruise-onboard, not online, for $249, all prints and also memory stick with all.

I love the jams made from the wild berries in Alaska. But remember to put them in your checked luggage!

I had an Indian tablemate on one cruise. Since many of the crew were from India some vegetarians. He was able to get the dishes prepared for the crew.

I called Princess. They are NOT offering the package on the Majestic.

If Rick Steves can do it why can't we? :')
Rick Steves buys the ingredients for his picnic lunches after he is in a town. He doesn't bring food from the previous town (the equivalent of bringing it ashore) . In his one cruise guide, there is no suggestion of doing so.
