  1. Freeport:  Any recommendations on a jeep excursion not Carnival?  How much is taxi to Viva Wyndham Fortuna beach resort?  Opinions on it?

Half Moon Cay:  Looking at renting clam shell.  Looking at youtube videos, it looks like beach is very crowded.  Does it get less crowded the further down the beach you go?

    Thanks for any input.

    Friday 28 June

We had another long lie today (well, we were on our holidays, :classic_laugh:) and had said we’d try the sea day brunch today. We left the timing up to the kids and I wanted to get some laundry done so took a wee trip down the corridor and managed to figure out the washing machine easily. I had brought a few washing liquid pods and laundry sheets from home. The only thing missing from this room is that nothing tells you how long it takes for the washing to finish. I asked Mark and he said his takes about 30-40 minutes so I went back to the cabin whilst waiting for it to finish. When I went back to move the stuff into the dryer there was a lady trying to get the machine to work. I helped her out and used my card as hers didn’t seem to work. In the end we worked out it was because she had it attached to a lanyard and it wouldn’t push all the way in. Anyway, I was glad to help.

I also paid for the middle package of wifi for 24 hours as I need to check some emails about some stuff that was happening at home. The cost was $16 and it worked very well.

Mark knocked the door when he was ready. I think it might have been about 12ish. The Sunshine dining room wasn’t busy and we were seated straight away. The menu looked fantastic.

I had the eggs benedict with salmon, delicious. The hash brown wasn't great though.

Mark was happy because there was a dessert he’d tried whilst in dry dock, the banana cake, which he said was fantastic. I had it too and it was amazing....

When this is available, why on earth would anyone go to the Lido for breakfast? We quickly worked out that if you’re having a later start to the day then this is absolutely perfect because we wouldn’t need anything else to eat until dinner. And even if we did, we could grab something from the Lido when it had quietened down. After this we were all completely full up and agreed we'd definitely be back.

We played cards in the Red Frog Pub for a bit.

Then went off to the liquid lounge and had a wee game of bingo. We didn't win, but had lots of fun taking part. We did win $5 on the card pull things (used to be called pontoon when I was a kid) so we went up to the casino to cash it in and then had a wander around the shops.

Lewis got some sweets from Cherry on Top and John got some nice new sunglasses.

John was feeling a bit tired now so he headed back to the cabin to put his feet up, whilst Lewis, Abbey and I had a wander around the deck upstairs. We found that the back of the ship, deck 10 to be quiet. We grabbed an ice cream on the way.

We headed back to our cabins now for a bit of a rest before dinner. We all liked the TVs and the selection of free movies. Even though we'd seen most of them before there always seemed to be something to watch. I liked that when you switched the TV back on half way through a movie, it kept your place.

Soon it was dinner time ( all we seemed to do was eat...) Mark came to get us around 6pm tonight I think.

We'd had another great day and were all looking forward to tomorrow....Grand Turk :classic_biggrin:

Question about laundry. If I read this correct, you pay with your sail and sign card?  I have heard that it is coin operated. So just checking so I will know what to expect.

    Thanks!

  3. You will rarely here the passengers, i think one or 2 times in 13 days did i hear anyone.

The bands on the other hand. They have a cuban band almost every night in Havana, and you are also close enought to catch the rock band from Ocean Plaza.

It was not so loud that i could not sleep, but i could hear them. We were in cabin 5218.

Obviously it did not bother us, since we are in the same room again in April.

Thanks for the response. We are actually thinking either 5218 or 5217.

  4. Parking:

    http://www.shipmobile.com/

If you are there early in the day, should not have problem being able to park at the port.

    Hotels:

I saw on the news recently where they had a big travel industry thing getting ready for the cruise ship coming back in. Hotels should have package deals on their websites. Downtown Mobile is only one option for the night before. Daphne is just across the Mobile Bay and offers several lodging options.

  5. Question? We have never purchased Cheers, but I was looking at it yesterday on a 5 day cruise we have coming up in December. When I added it to shopping cart to see what full cost would be it showed it only for 4 days. We are cruising out of Mobile, AL, so shouldn't we be able to used it on embarkation day?

  6. Just returned on the Magic yesterday. This was my 4th time going to Cozumel and have to say it is now my favorite visit. We booked Cozumel Jeep Adventure through Island Marketing. Our tour included snorkeling, lunch, visit to Punta Sur Lighthouse, ride along the east coast of the island and last stop was to a place that explained the process of making organic Tequila. Husband and I were in a jeep by ourselves, following our guide. If you are looking to get out of the downtown area and see the other side of the island, this is a great tour to take. I will take this tour again on my next stop to Cozumel.

  7. My Mom is in the hospital and I will be cruising in a little over 2 weeks. Right now I am planning on going on the cruise and make my final decision the week of cruise. I do have insurance. What I am curious about is, I have found the same cruise for a month later. I am just wondering from anyone that has done this, how it would work if I decided to change cruise dates instead of cancel.

Thanks for any advice/tips that anyone can give me.

  8. I booked Days Inn & Suites Galveston Seawall several months ago at a great military rate. I occasionally check rates for it and other hotels in Galveston to see if rates have gone down any. Yesterday I found that the Inn at Waterpark had dropped its rates considerably and will be about $30 less for the stay. Help me decide, stay at Days Inn or swap to Inn at Waterpark.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  9. Can anyone give me your opinion on this? I would like to take a taxi to get a picture of Baron Bliss Lighthouse and then to take a picture of Belize sign at Buttonwood Bay Park. How long it would take to do? About how much taxi ride would cost? Thanks in advance on any advice/tips you can give me.

  10. Can anyone give me input on these 3 Carnival snorkeling excursions? We are wanting to do a Carnival excursion. We like that Carnival excursion will pick up at the boat and we do not have to take tender to port.

    1. Sergeant's Cay Snorkel Adventure

    2. Snorkeling Wonders of the Barrier Reef

    3. Barrier Reef Snorkel & Starfish Island Getaway

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  11. We used Galveston Park N Cruise last year. Was practically right across from the pier. I dropped the bags off with the porters at the pier, wife and I went and parked the car, and we walked back. longest part of the walk was waiting at the stoplight.

Are the parking spots marked? How tight is the parking spots in the indoor parking?

  12. I prepaid $65 (regular price is $70) to park at the Port of Galveston lot right across the street. There are places a few dollars cheaper, but were all sold out by the time looked. I thought the shuttles were like the ones at the airport parking lots where you park and they pick you up at your car. After 3 shuttles drove by me, a guy directed me to a different area where he said I'll get picked up with others. I didn't see a designated waiting area or other people. I asked another guy where to go, and he turned out to be just as clueless and offered little help. I had to flag down a driver myself. He was headed back with an empty shuttle and I was grateful that he was willing to take care of me.

How far in advance did you book parking? This will be first port that I will be reserving parking and really want to get parking across the road so that we do not have to deal with shuttle.

    Thanks

P.S. Loving your review. Will not be on the Magic till the end of November and it cannot get here soon enough :).
