Has anyone that has actually BEEN THERE (not just watched a youtube video) comment on the ability to get out of earshot of the louder music?

Hi!  I was there on one of the 3 day inaugural cruises.  It is a huge area and you can for sure get away from the music.  We chose to sit on the beach right behind where it was being played and I did not think it was bad.  It certainly isn't my kind of music but it was not offensive.

The entire area is very nice.  It is spread out and there are a ton of chairs and umbrellas on the beach and by the pool.  It was much easier to get a drink at one of the bars than on other parts of the island. There was a line at the Snack Shack but it went very quickly.

That being said, there are so many free places on Coco Cay that are equally as nice.  I'm not sure that it is necessary to spend money to go to this beach.  But...we had a great day there!!!

  2. Yesterday, I tested positive for Covid. I have slight cold symptoms. I am supposed to cruise in 8 days. Will they allow me to go? Chances are, I will still test positive even though I will be past the 5 day quarantine rule. (I hear you can get a positive test result for 90 days) Can I show them the date of my positive test result to be allowed to get on the ship?

  3. Was wondering if anyone had experience with Aon's Travel Protection Plan that you purchase through RCCL.  My husband and I were supposed to be on a March 15 sailing but due to the Covid 19 virus we cancelled a day before RCCL cancelled this sailing.  (My husband has some existing health issues which would have put him more at risk with this type of virus.)  I just found out that because we cancelled before RCCL did, we are not eligible to get a cash refund....just a Future Cruise Credit.  My question...would the insurance company consider my husband's health issues pre-existing and not cover our cancellation?  He was completely healthy when we cancelled but was considered a higher risk because of them.

Of course I tried calling Aon, but could not get through!

    Thank you for your time!

  4. Who is still going on this sailing?  We have until tomorrow to decide if we want to cancel so that we can get the Future Cruise Credit with any cancellation penalty.  I want to go SOOO bad but am nervous since so much is going on right now with Coronavirus.  Am I buying into the media hype or being smart???

I’ve put in several bids for suites on an upcoming sailing-3/1 Oasis.   Haven’t heard anything, probably because this is one of the sailings with Jr Suites overbooked.

I am very interested in the “level” of bid.   Was it the minimum or “weak”, “fair” or “strong “?   I’m wondering if I should up my bid.

     Thanks

It was a very weak bid...the minimum

  6. Wow!  We are on a March 15 sailing on Oasis...so 46 days from now.  All suite categories have been closed for over a month.  I got the royal up email 3 weeks ago and thought there would be no way it would go through, due to the lack of available suites.  We were confirmed in a jr. suite but decided to put down a minimum bid ($600 per person) for the owner's suite.  Today, to my surprise, I got a confirmation saying that our bid was accepted!!!  I can't wait!! I have decided not to tell my husband ahead of time....it can be a big surprise on the day that we sail.

  7. I am sailing on Oasis in March and wondered how you sign up for laser tag.  I do not see this option in my cruise planner so I assume you have to wait and do it on the ship??  Does anyone know how often it is offered?  We have a group of 10 people that would like to do it.  Thanks!

  8. I was wondering if anyone has done this excursion through RCCL.  We will be in St. Thomas on Oasis of the Seas in March and this looked appealing but I wanted to double check with anyone that has done it.  My biggest question is do you sail to St. John or do you take a bus?  In the past, it always seemed like a lot of work to get to St. John from where the ships were docked, but maybe they are docked at a new place?  From the description of the tour on RCCL's website it makes it sound like you go by boat....but I know their wording can be deceiving.  If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate it!

  9. Sailing on Allure on Sunday and still have not heard if my bid has been accepted to jump from a JS to an OS...so I am guessing I will get the rejection email tomorrow.  This is fine because we love the JS on Oasis Class ships but thought it would be fun to experience an Owners Suite.  Last time we cruised on Allure in March we were upgraded to a Crown Loft Suite on the back of the ship.  The room was GREAT but the noise back there from all of the activity on sports deck was never ending.  I continued to hear it when we got home!

  10. Thanks for the great review!  It really helped me get excited for our upcoming cruise on Allure on June 9.  We will be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary and my retirement...can't wait!  I was wondering if you noticed any problems with the Unlimited Dining Package?  Was Izumi Hibachi available any night with this package? (On Oasis with the Ultimate package, they only let you use it the first night and on Allure in March we had to pay $10 pp to use it.)  Also, could you use the restaurants for lunch without issue even on days when you were at a port?  Thanks in advance for your time in answering these questions!

  11. Here is the email that I got about changes to Mariner's ports of call:

    Dear Travel Partner,

We are looking forward to welcoming your clients onboard Mariner' of the Seas for their March 8th, 2019 sailing. Please share the below update to their itinerary, so they can plan their vacation accordingly.

    Dear Guest,

We have an itinerary change for our Mariner of the Seas sailing on March 8th, 2019.

Over the past year, we've been making enhancements to our private destination, CocoCay. Unfortunately, we're going to need more time than expected to finish construction of a bridge between two areas on the island. This needs to take place during this cruise and for your safety and comfort, it is best to not have anyone on the island. So, instead of sailing to CocoCay, we'll now visit Grand Bahama Island, which offers the opportunity to explore caves, swim with the dolphins at Lucaya Beach, or sightsee underwater on a glass bottom boat tour.

We are sorry for this last-minute change and while we were able to add a new destination for you to discover, to help make up further for this inconvenience, we're providing you with a refund valued at 1 day, based on the cruise fare paid. This refund will be posted to your onboard account. If your total onboard spend doesn't reach this amount, the remaining balance will be refunded to your card on file once onboard.

Below, please find our updated itinerary.

Within the next 3 business days, you'll receive an email from our Shore Excursion Department advising of your refund details. Then, feel free to browse through our Cruise Planner for additional excursions in Grand Bahama Island that may interest you.

We look forward to welcoming you onboard!

  12. I had some clients that sailed on Mariner of the Seas in March and they changed their stop from Coco Cay to Grand Bahama Island because of the work that is being done on Coco Cay...something to do with the bridge.  RCCL gave them 1/3 of their money back because of this change...so I am surprised that they are not doing something in this situation.  Maybe because there are so many people on all of these sailings that they cannot afford it???  However, if I were really upset about the changes, I would have to remind them that sometimes they do compensate their passengers. (it was the March 8 sailing...I might even be able to find the email we got if anyone is interested.)  Luckily my husband and I are on the June 9 sailing and our stay in Jamaica was just slightly altered.
