  1. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I could not find an answer.

We are cruising Norwegian Dawn in a few days and have two FAS Dining Vouchers and two free Platinum Meals. On our last cruise on Norwegian Star the Platinum Meals were only good for one appetizer, one main course and one dessert.

How much can I order in Los Lobos if I use my free Platinum meal? Or should I better use one of my FAS Dining Vouchers?

    Thanks!

No it is not. Only the US adds a sales tax at the till, in Europe the sales tax is built into the original price. We pay for the free at sea and that price is supposed to include VAT, that is why the European guests are particularly peeved at the VAT getting charged on something they’ve already paid tax on in Europe.
we suck it up in the USA because we know the USA is stupid about pricing stuff ex-vat but by rights we could argue the case on that too given advertising requirements here when we purchased through a European website.

I know NCL have a line in their t&cs that lets them inflict additional VAT but how many people do you know that actually read the terms & conditions.

I am from Germany and my opinion is the same as yours. We are booked on a Med cruise with Norwegian Dawn in November (doesn't include NON-EU-Ports) and Norwegian told me yesterday (after final payment) that we have to pay Spanish VAT on every single drink and for every meal covered by free at sea package for the whole cruise. I always thought if I book my cruise and my free at sea package in advance with their German website, the tax is included in the final price.

It's not the few dollars I now have to pay extra, it's the way NCL communicates this. No word about that, before booking this cruise. Why don't you take a few dollars more for the cruise and include the VAT as every other cruise line does? I am a very loyal costumer and cruised a lot with NCL in the past (and I will do in the future), but this really frustrates me and I don't think this is the right way to treat loyal costumers.

    Just my two cents...

  3. I received this mail from NCL for my Mediterranean Cruise with Norwegian Dawn in November.

Dear Valued Guests and Travel Partners,

Thank you for your loyalty and for making us your vacation of choice.

We have important information regarding Value Added Taxes (VAT) applicable on your upcoming European sailing. Travel Partners are asked to please share this information with impacted guests.

We pride ourselves on delivering incredible vacations from beginning to end including the ability to shop at our onboard boutiques, upgrade your experience with our Unlimited Open Bar packages, and indulge in unique culinary offerings available at our specialty restaurants that provide a variety of tastes for every palate.

Due to local tax regulations, please note that a 21% Spanish VAT will be added to applicable retail items purchased on board for sailings departing from Spain and calling to European port cities. Additionally, a 10% VAT will be applied to all food and beverage purchases made onboard, including purchases made under our Unlimited Open Bar or Specialty Dining packages, for certain sailings departing from Spain or any European itinerary while in Spanish waters.

If you live outside the European Union (EU)*, some purchases may be eligible for a partial VAT refund. In order to obtain a VAT refund, you must request a claim form at the store at the time of purchase and you may need to provide your passport in order to obtain the form. For more information, please visit https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/guide-vat-refund-visitors-eu_en.

Should you have any additional questions, you may contact us directly at (866) 234-7350. Guests residing outside of the U.S. or Canada should visit www.ncl.com for local information.

We hope you have an incredible vacation and look forward to creating exciting memories together!

    Sincerely,

    Norwegian Cruise Line

This cruise does not include a NON-EU-Port, so does this really mean I have to pay 10% Spanish VAT for every drink purchased under the free at sea package the whole cruise???

  4. I‘m looking for the Norwegian Star TA from Rio to Barcelona in March 2022. The last few weeks she was in Naples, Italy. Now she‘s heading to Bar, Montenegro. Does anybody know why she‘s doing this?
I‘m asking myself, if my cruise next year will happen, if she‘s already in Europe right now… 😟

  5. I am onboard Norwegian Epic right now and doing a 7 night cruise. At the moment my latitudes Level is gold, but with the triple points promotion i will reach platinum level for my next cruise.
I am leaving the Epic on wednesday and board the Getaway on thursday in civitavecchia.

Does NCL know my new latitudes level with only one day between the cruises?

If not, what can i do to get the correct level and its perks?

  6. We are cruising Norwegian Epic in three days out of Rome. We did Teppanyaki on other cruises and it was always full. I am wondering how they do it in these times. We are a party of four (two different staterooms). Will we have one teppanyaki table for ourselves, or do we have to share it with others? Can someone help, who is currently onboard on one of the active ships?

  7. We are booked on Norwegian Epic out of Civitavecchia/Rome Sep 15 - Sep 22 this year.

The cruise is fully paid and the the app shows a new itinerary with four days at sea!

First I thought about the problem with Italian ports and shore excursions, but Palma is also missing...

And why is Naples on the list?

    Does anybody know something????

We just got off the Dawn where we upgraded from the WiFi package to unlimited for $59.80 on day 2.  We are platinum as well, so the 60 minutes may have helped with price.

Did you have the 250 min Promo or just the 60 minutes (2x) platinum perk?

We will sail in November 2019 and we also have the platinum minutes. It would be great if we could use these, to upgrade to an unlimited package on board.

  9. Hi,

I'm also platinum with NCL, so i think i can answer your questions very shortly:

Dining: Two free meals per cabin, and it doesn't matter how many platinum members are in the cabin.

    Photos: NO Discount on Packages

Texting App: You can use the NCL App to stay in touch with others onboard. To stay in touch with family members at home, you have to buy a package (e.g. social media package)

    POP (Soda):

You are not allowed to bring your own drinks

    Hope that helps 🙂

  10. Do they have a single machine, and if so, where is it located? RCI has a similar setup, but you can go to any bar for a refill AFAIK.

RCCL has similar machines and you only have to carry your cup if you want to use them. But you can also go to any bar without your cup.

There's also a soda package, so their has to be a bigger choice of drinks with the Quench Package...
