  1. This!! I totally agree with everything you've pointed out in this thread. For what you pay in other categories on Carnival, I think you get pretty good value. But when I shell out extra for a suite, I expect to get something in return for that investment other than a few extra square feet in the cabin. I sailed another line last year too and very much enjoyed the hot food from room service breakfast, a thermostat that actually provided cool air when I adjusted it downward, and other special services (yes, I enjoyed lobster delivered to my cabin on formal night included in the cruise fare!).

Carnival could do way better in the service and options provided with suites!

I have a suite booked on the Magic for next April (LONG way out) and am looking forward to see what they do.

  2. I always get some cheese and maybe a crusty roll and some cookies from the buffet and keep them in the fridge in the cabin to have late at night with maybe some hot chocolate from lido deck.

The warm chocolate melting cake is to die for, but with your intolerance be sure to tell them no ice cream. they always serve vanilla ice cream with the cake since it is so rich.

Some people get peanut butter with the melting cake. Never tried it but that might help with the sweetness of the cake since they can't have ice cream.

  3. What is the FTTF? This is the first time I've heard anything about this, and I'm very intrigued! Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Oopsie, I forgot to tell you that you will find FTTF under manage your cruise. Click on shore excursions then your home port. If available, you should be able to purchase. These sell out quickly because they only release a small amount per sailing.

It is Faster to the Fun. You get to go through a special line and get on board after Wedding Parties, Diamond and Platinum and Suite guest. You do not get to use the Priority Lounge though. Then you get to go through the snooty line (only meaning to be funny) at Guest Services while all of the other people go through the longer line. You get to go to your room right away and you luggage will be (supposedly) sitting there smiling and waiting on you after boarding. Also you get priority for tenders. All for the grand total of around $60.00 per stateroom. Applies to that room only so you can't try to link on 2 or 3 other rooms with it.

  5. My DH and I will be on our first cruise the Glory Feb 27-March 5. We booked through a local travel agent.(who obviously doesn't book a lot of Carnival cruises) I have severe arthritis in both knees and have a hard time standing for any length of time without pain. So when I read about FTTF, I thought that would be awesome for embarking for me. I asked her in January to book it for me and she said no problem she'd look into it . When she called me back saying she called and they told her there is no hurry, you can book FTTF anytime, she decided to wait till our paperwork came in. So, our paperwork came in last week, she called and they said it was all booked up. She was upset and so was I when she told me on Friday. She said she would try calling again to see what she could do, but I think not.

Can anyone tell me , if our embarking times are between 12:30-3pm ,how long it wold take. I keep reading different a lot of different experiences. The length of time standing is important. It seems that for our first cruise all is not starting out well. :(:(:confused:

You can have your TA call guest services at Carnival and inquire about a wheelchair for use at the port and throughout the cruise.

  6. I have been trying for 4 days to go to my account on Carnival website and I cannot get past the log-on page. It does not move from that page after I enter my information. Is there a secret password or decoder ring or something that I need? LOL?

I had that problem last year with Internet Explorer and switched to Firefox and was able to log right in. So try a different browser and see if that will help.

  7. I was wondering how often Carnival runs a 'Sale' that includes free On Board Credit?

I booked a few weeks ago and received a $50 OBC, but i have decided i would like to change my cabin and move into the Spa area. so i was wondering if i should wait until another OBC sale comes along so i dont lose the credit. Or just rebook and not worry about the $50.

I realize i will be paying a difference in the stateroom rate as well.

Does anybody know how often these sales occur?

I recently changed from a balcony to a suite and got to keep the $75 OBC and was left under the early saver so you should be able to just call and change cabins without having to forfeit anything.

  8. Thanks. But my question is more specific around the typical time FTTF and other excursions start to show up for a particular cruise. My cruise is April 2017, should I except them to pop up any time or is it typical to say 6 months in advance as an example.

I can certainly check every day, but if excursions only start showing XX amount of time before a cruise, it doesn't make sense to check before then.

I read this on another thread and it was told that in March or April the excursion contracts the the vendors will be finalized for the cruises next year and should appear on your shore excursions at that point. I am booked for April 22, 2017 and there is only 1 appearing so far.

  9. Bonine, Dramamine or the prescription patches?

The doctor has offered prescription patches but I keep reading they don't really work..........

I use the Bonine and start taking it 2 days before the cruise. Once on the ship I take one in the morning and one at night. The patches and Dramiamine make me very sleepy whereas the Bonine does not. Success of anyone of these is take it before you get sea sick. A lot of people on the cruises don't take anything but I am not that brave to risk it.

  10. Just curious if there is such a thing?

    Thanks

Yes they do. It is an Ocean Suite number 7270. A friend and I are going with her daughter who is disabled and will be staying in that suite next April. You have to call guest services and let them know you need a handicapped room. Or if you have a PVP they can help you set it up. There is only the one suite that is handicapped from what I am finding. A few balconies and a number of ocean view and interiors. They will send you a questionnaire to fill out about the type of wheelchair and if you are bringing your own. They recommend booking these early.

  11. Just got off the Sunshine today... I have been on several cruise line such as NCL, RCCL and Disney and this cruise has been the best one so far... The ship was very clean, cabin was freezing every night, the public areas very cold, no crowds any where and this cruise has sold out. Havana Bar excellent for breakfast and lunch, Blue Iguana tacos and burritos awesome, Guy's burger was fantastic my husband is not a burger boy, but he had one everyday... The staff were awesome my cabin Stewart, dining staff and some bartenders knew who we were on the first day that was amazing they never forgot our names during the cruise.... The food was very good I am a picky eater and I tried things that I never knew I was going to like afterwards.... We will definitely go again... And the CD "Donkey, The Voice from above" was the best CD I have ever seen.... I have not met Jaime Lee, but Donkey Was the bomb.... Thank You Carnival for a great vacation....

We were on the roll call for this cruise with you. Invkevin and his son Chris and I met up at the Havana Bar for meet and greet but did not see anyone else till we headed out for muster and met one other person. We loved the cruise and thought Donkey was great. If you by chance saw a young lady around the ship that has mental disabilities and was on the dance floors and in the halls dancing, that was Amanda. We had so many people telling us how they enjoyed watching and dancing with her.

  12. That is good to know. The appeal of fun cash was to set a predetermined budget and make the DH, DS, and DD stick to it. If I can do a mastercard gift card that will solve the problem. Thanks:)

I would double check with carnival but it is on their FAQ section.

  13. I just went to the Fun Shops to look into starting to buy cruise cash for my November cruise, and I noticed it now states there is a $500 limit per cabin. Did a search but couldn't find anything... does anyone know if this means a $500 limit per transaction, or overall can only get $500 total cruise cash racked up? I used it last year to pay for Cheers in advance and don't remember seeing this limitation.

Just a suggestion but why not get a reusable visa card or a bluebird card to use on the ship? You can add money anytime you want to and use it on the ship to pay for your Cheers in advance. If you don't use all of the cruise cash you lose it. I am not seeing a benefit to giving them my money in advance and risk losing some of it.

  14. Hello all,

We are leaving this Saturday 8/22/15 on the Carnival Valor. We thought we would try fttf this time around.

Being this close of course they show being all sold out:( So I emailed them through and address I found on the board this morning. They just emailed me back saying they have Manually added our name and Booking to the faster to the fun manifest. Nothing new to print out, or update? Just hand this email to the porter and he will put new tags on ect and we just follow the fttf signs (also this will be charged to onboard account. Has anyone else used this procedure? I am someone who likes all my paperwork together prior to boarding, this seems like we are just winging it lol. Thanks in advance

I read on another posting that the manifest is only a list of people who want the FTTF. If it becomes available they will email you then.

I have never been a fan of Carnival bathrooms, they just don’t look up to par with the rest of the industry. And the pink color scheme adds years of age, even if it does not reflect that age. That said the bathroom was very functional, with very hot water at all times, and great water pressure.

My DH and I booked one of these rooms on the Freedom. LOVED IT! I have an upcoming cruise on the Sunshine in 3 weeks with a friend and we booked the same type of room. Lots of storage and big balcony. Like you said, not sure why they don't sell our earlier.

  16. Has anyone stayed in one of the L shaped cabins at the back of the ship?

I'm particularly talking about on Victory, cabin # 6432 or 6459?

Looking at the deck plan, these cabins seem a little larger than normal. The balcony's are absolutely larger.

I currently have a balcony cabin # 7358, midship booked. In checking for any price drops I came across these cabins as avaliable. They are currently $60 cheaper than what I paid. I booked Early Saver, and am past final payment.

Will they let me switch to one of these L shaped cabins?

I stayed in one on the Carnival Freedom a few years ago and LOVED it! Most of them do not have couches, but they do have a chair and small table. But the balcony is awesome! They are wrapped around a set of stairs that the staff use, but I heard no noise from them. You will feel vibration when you pull into the ports but it did not bother me. I would go for it if you don't need a couch. The balcony makes up for it.
