  1. Wow.. just simply amazing. As a dedicated Carnival cruiser I LOVED this review. I had been looking at the Allure and the Oasis to take a chance with RCCL again. I went on the Monarch years ago and didn't care for it. After your review I an definitely booking! Cant you share the link to your spread sheet again? I am an avid planner as well. What are your best tips for a "newbie" RCCL cruiser? Best cabin location?

Thanks so much for doing this!:D

  2. hmmm...I know I will get flammed for this. I have read so many raves about this place that we made it a point to go when we were in Cabo over New Years on the Splendor. It took a while to find it and the Beatles memorabilia is pretty cool. The food...not... I ordered 3 tacos, 2 fish and a chicken thinking it was going to be all that. I ate one and a half to be nice. It was awful. I can say I have been there but wouldn't go back. Was really dissapointed.

  3. I would also like to know where this is. Is it similar to the STEAKHOUSE? Does one have dinner with the captain?

Would like to get one more in before the SPLENDOR leaves us for the east coast. Beautiful ship.

Same questions!! Booked my last Splendor cruise this week for New Years! Sooo Sad! Want to do the Chefs Table but would like the particulars on it. I have never done it..

  4. We cruised the last week of August and they were using it. Our waiter said it was their 3rd week with the new menu. Just MHO, but I dont care for the new menu. I know some people love it but I just wasnt impressed with the new stuff and I can get the "homey" food, well, at home. I don't want meatloaf on a cruise in the MDR.

  5. I've done the Splendor, Spirit, Elation and Paradise down & back. It is always cool and windy. A light jacket or hoodie should suffice. I was on the Splendor the last week of August, it was blazing and humid in Mexico chilly coming back. They did close the roof the last sea day. It was pretty humid inside with it closed, but better than being to cold to use.

  6. Back from my cruise.. I only gained 3 lbs. but walked and walked. And I ate and drank pretty much what I can't. Started back yesterday (attack) and lost almost all of it!

How much is a "stone" to the American pound??

Susan~ How much do you weigh at 5'8? I'm about the same height and what used to be a good weight last year I look fat at this year:cool:..

  7. The reason I knew it was the thrusters is I asked when I did the Behind the Fun tour. They are used when heading in & out of port. I think they shut down the main engines and the thrusters move the ship in and out of the pier areas. It starts up & stops several times like its pushing you up next to the dock.. Not positive but thats what it seemed like. Other than then not much vibration. I could feel movement but that was the ship from time to time.

    Have fun!

  8. Can you believe that. There are a few of the windows, beds with towel animals on them ect. but no real picture, pictures. They do have the flat screen Tv's, they are located above the litle "box" cabinent that holds the safe. The safes are digital combos not the sliding card ones also.

I really like the cabin because of the space. ALthough it can be noisy/vibrates with use of the thrusters, I wouldn't hesitate to book it again. My ds sleeps thru all of it and it was my wakeup call when we were going into ports. It had far less rattleing and I didnt use the tape this time!;)

I think there was a little less drawer space on the Splendor. The long narrow drawer usually just under the desk top is gone. And there was no book with info or room service menu this time. You can order room service on the TV though!

  9. Glad everyone is being successful! It is the easiest and most realistic diet I have done. Reading the book made complete since on how to make the changes for long term success.

My first week I lost 6.6 and my daughter lost 8. It's very motivating. I've lost a total of 14.5 lbs with 7 to go. I am 50 years ols and 5'7.5. Want to be at 140. The book says with it's calculations 144 is my stabilization weight but I like it just a little lower. Hoping to be there before I cruise, thats 3 weeks from now. When I get back it will be attack phase to get off any gained weight and then following thew plan till the end.

    Keep up the great work!
