How much does this perk cost them?  NOTHING. I would hate to see them do away with it. I have been cruising for 26 years and have seen cutback after cutback in all the lines.  I like Carnival, and have cruised mostly with them.  But if they keep cutting perks, and give it to FTTF, I will move to another line.  They are all about the same, anyway.  I was one of the Platinum VIFP that was upset when they rolled out FTTF.  Then I realized it didn't really affect my experience, so way to go Carnival, having a way to get pure profit.  Keeps my cruise fare cheaper so I can go more often!:classic_biggrin:

Just my opinion but I don't think corporations like CCL or any other cruise line for that matter are going to make fares cheaper because they make more profits.

Reading all those opinions, I have to say that I can see a difference between the drink "coupons" and the drink packages for example.

To me it is clear that sharing is not ok with any of the unlimited packages, as sharing would be on top of anything that I consume myself. However, with the drink "coupons", there are 3 per person per evening. So I don't see a difference if I consume those drinks or anyone else. As I'm no drinker, it would be a shame to let them go to waste if I don't use them.

It actually is probably one of the most marked up items on the ship. I worked at a fast food chain in high school and a 5-gallon bag of soda syrup was about $10, that could fill about 150 20oz sodas. Do the math on how much they make 🙄

I don't know how long ago you were in hig school but a 5 gallon bag of coke is $88 at Sams Club.

Granted they are still making a killing even at those prices.

Their current promo of buy one get one 60% off is tempting me go give RCCL a try for an Alaskan cruise next year.

Don't get caught up in the RCI sales. Whenever they have a sale they just adjust the pricing accordingly to pretty much always come out to the same price no matter how much the % off is.

Just go by the bottom line and if the price is something you like then book it.

That would probably help here....but mess up all my other forums. 😒

I use firefox and when I enlarged the text 20% it only affects cruise critic.

When I go to another website the font is back to 100%

  6. You have no idea what is important to them (or me). You can feel sorry or not, and it can have zero to do with being too nervous, too cheap (have no idea what that has to do with it anyway) or to scared to go outside comfort zone, or fear being disappointed. Not everybody has the same desires, does not want to do something different and I can go on and on. I have been on 36 Carnival cruises 44 total, 4 different lines and done land trips on 5 continents.....guess what, none of any of those had anything to do with me doing a repeat (or anything else...). We enjoyed it and wanted to experience it again, nothing more...and nothing less.

I booked the Sensation twice within 6 months doing the exact same ship and ports.

She left from Tampa with stops in New Orleans and western Caribbean.

We traveled with other people who didn't want to do a lot of things so when we had the chance to go back on our own 6 months later we jumped on it.

Then we were able to do the things we missed the first cruise.

  7. I’ve also heard, and I’m not sure if it’s true, that other lines have better excursion’s than Carnival as per their contracts with the vendors. Anyone have experience with this? We will definitely look for Glacier Bay in the itinerary. That is #1 on my list. Thanks for the advice so far!
I would definitely do independent tours in Alaska.

The White pass excursion in skagway is one of the most memorable we have taken in our 30+ cruises.

  8. Prices are high because of the initial demand, wait a few weeks and you’ll see some price drops

Sent from my iPhone while I probably should be working.

I got r/t tix to sju when they opened bookings for those dates for $122 pp each way.

I had to fly out of BWI for those prices but it's a small price to pay to say the amount of money we did on those tix.

I'll keep checking and maybe switch my dates to the week before.

  9. They're not going to be sold out on the first day. Are you sure the cheapest fares just aren't avaialble? Meaning - can you absolutely not book a seat on the nonstop flight, or are they only in the higher fare classes?

These are the nonstop flights for my date of 4/13/18 coming home to Phl from mco:

    6:45am - $140.pp

    10:40am - $244 pp

5:30 pm -website says sold out across the board

8:30pm -website says sold out across the board

  10. If anyone is traveling on Southwest, they have just announced their flights through the first week in June 2019!! Bought my tickets today we are all set :cool:.

Thanks for the heads up. I was waiting on this to buy my tickets from MCO to Philly but most nonstop flights are already very high or sold out..:(

  11. This. I used to book through an online site but our latest cruise I went with a PVP so we could get connecting cabins. Couldn't really get that online. You can also negotiate some OBC that way, too.

Why couldn't you get connecting cabins using an online site? They should have access to every cabin in Carnivals inventory.

  12. I don't believe that there is any cruise line that will allow you to have cruisers under 21 in a cabin by themselves. You appear to be a veteran cruiser, so you should have known this before booking.

Granted RCI should also not have accepted the booking, but a TA would have been a terrific asset with this kind of booking.

That's a pretty sad statement about RCI's booking agents when you say a TA would have been better than going right to the cruise line.

  13. The best time to book is when the itineraries are first released, under Early Saver. Then, either prices go up in which case you’ve locked in the lowest price, or prices go down and you request a price match.

Just for clarity, no matter what rate you book you are locked in at the lowest price and if you book any other rate besides early saver you can still get price drops up until final payment date.
