  1. Our 4J on the Dream are like the photos above posted by Saint Greg. It was not an 'end' room but one of those in the middle somewhere.  On the Sunrise last week, the nightstand on each side of the bed...touched both the bed & the wall! No room to walk around it. The head of the bed was against the window. Also one of the 'middle' rooms.

  2. We always buy a few antibiotics when in Mexico. (Although it's cancun,  cozumel.....). I do not have insurance. I have to take an entire day off work - without pay - to go to the doctor. So for say, a sinus infection, that I get once every fall and maybe again in the spring.....it cost me hundreds of dollars plus the full cost of the medicine. I can buy a 10 day supply of keflex (yes, it is what is prescribed for sinus infection) for $3.

  3. We dress up every night. On regular nights, my husband wears dress pants & polos. On formal night, he wears his suit. I wear sparkly stuff , sundresses, 'work' capris with fancier tops on regular nights and a either a cocktail type dress on formal night or I have a pair of chiffon wide leg pants and a fully beaded top.

When the kids sailed (high school & college) they dressed the same as us. Daughter bought homecoming style dresses on clearance at Dillard's for like $15. Whole section in our closet just for cruise clothes.

  4. UPdate:   24 hours after uploading my husband's info, it finally said ready to sail. Everything was accepted. Got the emails saying they were accepted, it just didn't update the Ap.

After all that......at the port in Miami, March 26th, the agent asked if we did Verifly, looked at it briefly and asked for all the paperwork. She looked it all over, confirmed we had what was needed, & done. Others on the same cruise said all they showed was Verifly. I think it completely depends on the check in agent.

also go back to the home page and click veiw pass?

Yep, did that too. Everything says ok (like the green checks) and say complete. Click on each thing & say 'accepted'. View pass shows mine ok and still his 'Attention Required'. It's so odd.

  6. QR code? I have uploaded everything. Everything for both myself & husband have green check marks and say complete. I got emails for both of us saying vaccine recored accepted and test results accepted. I have a green check mark & "Good to go" on my picture when I click view pass. Husband's still says Action required. It's like it didn't refresh.

We don't have a QR code anywhere. I saw that mentioned on the email but it said android phones. I have an iphone. Should there be a QR too? Suggestions for husband's 'pass' ?  This is such a pain.

  7. Everything is uploaded for our cruise Saturday. Took our covid tests this morning.....took pictures & manually uploaded. Got emails they were accepted. Says accepted with green check mark in Verifly. All things have green check marks and says complete. When you click my 'view pass' I have a good to go & green check mark. Husband still says action required. (But all his stuff has green checks. If you click they say accepted. ?!?!    Any suggestions? It's like it didn't refresh that part.  We can still take paper copies but after all this work to download everything I kind of wish it work!

  8. My daughter & I are going on a land vacation to Europe in June. 6 countries. 16 days. We have gone from 6 required covid tests to 3. Look for one of those to go away before we travel. Italy just dropped A lOT of their requirements this week. On June 15, they drop the vaccine mandate with everyone/everywhere except health care workers. So it is happening, just not every where yet.

  9. Anyone been to Waterloo Golf Course? Info says it is a few 100 yards from the cruise port, by the Governor's house/office. Pix look like it's all sand & really old clubs for rent, so not fabulous. Their facebook page hasn't had any posts since 2015 or 16. But.....it's a quick par 3 course. Thought we could get it a round and still go to Margarittaville or Jack's Shack for the rest of our visit. Anyone have information of any kind?

  10. A couple of thoughts added:

Decorate your cabin doors on the outside! People do it all the time. Helps you find your cabin quicker but also a fun thing to do. Bring tape as some doors are magnetic & some aren't . Not necessarily with your names (security issue) but fun stuff like streamers, signs, palm trees, etc. You can also hang white boards with command hooks. You can leave notes like "Went to the pool"....."Going to arcade. Meet you there"....You have all the room keys but assume the girls only have theirs. This is a quick way to communicate if you can't get in that room.

Sometimes people hide rubber ducks. They add a little tag with their name & where they're from. When found, you can keep them or rehide them for someone else to find. Ducks are fairly cheap at Oriental Trading if interested. There's even a F....book group called the Carnival Cruising Ducks.

Formal Night: When my daughter was in high school, she had a 'cruise section' in her closet. We found great Homecoming type dresses on clearance at Dillard's for like $15 and $20. (If your girls don't already have something of their own)

  11. I LOVE this! I spent many years as a Cub scout den leader as well as Cubmaster. Then followed up with my daughter as a Girl Scout troop leader. Her troop loved to travel, mostly weekend stuff. However, we went to the Mall of America & slept in the tunnel of the aquarium and also went to Disney for 4 days. This will be a great trip!

Space for projects will be easy. Just look around for empty lounges. You'll find them. Open areas inside (without wind) . Or maybe the library if your ship has one. The Red Frog Pub (not the one by the pool) tends to be quiet during the day & has tables too.

Some things that come to mind are if they do have free time....have a designated check in time. Like 1:00 by Guys Burgers. Surprisingly, you'll see them across the deck or run into them on the promenade. You'll see them more than you expect. Our rule when sailing with our teen kids was 'dressed & ready for dinner by 5:50'. They could do whatever they wanted during the day but we went to dinner together. Clear expectations. Night time curfew.

The teen club will have 10:00 pizza parties. Dance dance revolution tournaments. Their own karaoke. Let them go. Sometimes a hole is already punched in the Sign & Sail card but not always. Take your own hole punch or have them done at the casino. Have the girls bring lanyards. They have blingy pretty ones at Dollar General & Walmart by glasses. Harder to lose that card on a lanyard than loose to lay down somewhere.

Rules: Only go on floors/hallways WITHOUT rooms unless going to your own. No new friends in your cabin. Do not go into strangers' cabins. Buddy system.

Something that helped my kids stay organized (and know what day it was!) was a schedule taped to the mirror in their cabin. Just a simple one, in calendar format.  It showed formal night, port days & what to bring like cash, sign & sail, towell, breakfast together at ** and off the ship at *** for example. anything special. When staying in a different cabin, it made it easier for everyone to stay on time.

(I haven't read all the posts, I'll go back & do that now. 🙂 )

  12. I know for the Caribbean cruises that you shouldn't make any flight arrangements until noon or later. What about sailing from Long Beach and flying out of LAX? Is there a general rule for safe booking times? There aren't very many late ones because they land so late back in the midwest.Wondering now if we should wait and fly home the next day instead.

  13. I've emailed maitre 'd before with no problem, Sometimes I got a response and sometimes not....but my requests were there waiting for me onboard. Usually a request for a private table vs a 10 top, for instance. Seems a bit ridiculous to bother John Heald with a dinner request.....on a ship he isn't on board. He is asked for SO many things. I'm not bothering him.  Thank you to whom posted the email !
