  1. We've used the 2-bed twice (Star and Dawn) and have booked in the Jade for this year for me, my husband and adult daughter (She was a teenager on the Star). The only issue she mentioned last year on the Dawn was not knowing whether it was morning or not.

For the next cruise she'll either have the TV on set to the bridge, or more likely will bring her 'sunrise' clock.

We love the space the 2-bed provides and wish this was an option on other ships.

  2. We're in 12030 next September! Was trying to find something to suit 2 adults and our adult daughter. I'm so glad to see the photo of the divider out of the wall and what it looks like. That room divider was the deciding factor in choosing this - I felt it afforded a little more privacy for  us, and her. Unfortunately I couldn't run to the 2-bed family suite which the three of us had 9 years ago this time round. But I am so looking forward to getting back on board.

The balcony's going to be fun, I think - but I'd rather an odd balcony than no balcony at all.

Thank you. Actually, when I looked at the itinerary map for our cruise, It has Dun Laoghaire in parenthesis.

Sounds like you'll be there before us. I'm certainly hoping that 14 months from now things will have quietened down a lot!

At the moment my thinking is to do a HOHO bus tour, but I won't start seriously thinking about what to do until after this year's holiday / nearer Christmas time.

I’m enjoying the breakfast buffet, especially after I realized we simply walk up stairs from our room (9160) and we are at the least crowded part of the buffet. I really like the egg Benedict station and the small waffles. After breakfast we head down to the coffee bar and get a 3-shot Americano .

We disembarked the Summit on Saturday 😞

We too had an aft balcony. What are you doing 'walking upstairs' to the breakfast buffet?? 😉 I loved our balcony so much we had room service breakfast every day bar the sea day (MDR) and disembarkation day (buffet) so that we could sit out there. But yes, the egg Benedicts and waffles were good, admittedly.

  5. DH and I have just got back off the Summit. Ok, so we did do Qsine on the first night with a 20% discount, but only because I knew Qsine would be disappearing so wanted to try it before it goes. Other than that we stuck with MDR. One evening we ate in the buffet, but the quality of food wasn't the same, so we happily returned to the MDR. DH got fed up with the 'constant upselling' of the chargeable restaurants. In his view, we've paid for our meals, so why pay again? The food and menu was very good.

  6. I too have had a very positive experience when phoning Celebrity. I think I got the same American lady on both days I rang, dithering about my room choice. She was very helpful and lovely. Think her name was Angie. I went on to the Celebrity FB page at the time to sing her praises. It's a shame it's so much easier to make a fuss than it is to compliment, isn't it?

  7. Hi

I've booked Celebrity's shore excursion to Stingray City as I suspected they might book up all the available slots. But I would also like to see some of the island. (It's a morning excursion; back by midday I think). Are taxis available at Stingray City that we could take rather than go all the way back to port? Or if we do go back to the port, would we have time in the afternoon to take a taxi to Shirley Heights and back? We depart at 5pm.

    Thank you!

  8. "I wish Celebrity would rethink this policy. It seen to be totally unfair to loyal cruisers?"

If you buy a coat at your local department store and later it goes on sale, do you ask them to re-price the coat? It was a price you agreed to when you bought it, you agreed to purchase it at that price.

If you buy an airplane ticket and later a ticket for the same flight goes on sale, do you get a refund? even a frequent flyer doesn't get their ticket refared.

Why should a cruise be any different?

Actually I did that with a ring I purchased! Bought it one day; the next it had been reduced in price so I went back to the shop and asked if they'd honour the difference. They did. (I think it had to be ordered in, so I'd paid for it, but hadn't received it just to add context).

  9. Hello.

I tried posting this on the Ports of Call thread, but have had no response, so thought I'd try here on Celebrity.

I've booked the above tour, which as well as going to the wildlife park includes a "four-wheel-drive vehicle exploration of Barbados’ most beautiful locations, including the East Coast".

Does anyone know which places it visits, as I'm trying to work out what to do in the morning before our afternoon tour and wish to avoid duplication (including similar sights if not actually the same places). Thank you!

  10. Please, Sir (raises hand with trepidation), but I actually like Stonehenge! Good job really as I'm there a lot. I like it least around midday in the height of summer when it's horribly crowded and the light is harsh, but give me a fine December afternoon as the sun's setting, and I melt. I was at an inner circle access visit last week, watching some group communing with the stones. I really don't 'get' or feel the spiritual side of it; chakras and ley lines generally pass me by. But I look at the stones, the construction, the grooves where they've been bashed and bashed, the graffiti ancient and newer, and I just marvel at their ingenuity, and their burial customs and beliefs. For me, it's fascinating.

  11. Congrats! I think you made a very wise decision....and YES....never look back. Start researching and planning your vacay instead.

Lol! The research and planning has been going on for months already. To be honest the rest of the holiday is just about sorted. Just got to pay for it all now!

I think I made the right decision as I feel very happy about it! DH says he knew I really wanted to go for that one. But isn't it daft? Because I've seen photos of the depth of that balcony (sooo looking forward to breakfasts on it), it hadn't occurred to me that I would see more by going up to the railing. And I like to think I'm reasonably smart! Oh well. Just 2 months to go now.

Thank you all for your input.

  12. Thank you all. I have changed to 7203. I think the fact that I've wondered over the years what it would be like to sail in an aft cabin won out, along with the connecting door in 6136 (which was the reason I'd changed my original cabin in the first place). Lovely, lovely American lady on Celebrity today; I'm sure I spoke to her yesterday. Anyway she was very helpful. So that's it. Final change. I'm not looking again now.

  13. Help!!! I've changed my cabin 3 times already, and wondering whether to change again.

I had a C3 cabin which was connecting, so got that changed to a non-connecting room. My final payment is due basically this week, and I noticed prices had dropped. I booked through Celebrity (UK based) and was on the phone this morning, having debated with myself and DH whether to go for 6136 or 7203. Well, that choice was taken out of my hands, as 7203 disappeared as I watched.

At first the lady on the phone couldn't quite believe prices had dropped that much, but after checking with her supervisor, allowed me to upgrade to C1 (6136) at no extra cost (to be honest, I'm still half convinced it's a bit cheaper now than I paid for my C3, although she said it was an extra £90 difference). This evening, I see 7203 is available again, and now I'm dithering.

I have scoured CC and Youtube trying to decide between these two, and am just looking for any final words of advice from you lovely people. From what I can see:

6136 - quieter area within the suites. Connecting room so just the sofa for one. Connecting room may mean some neighbourly noise ... or it may not be an issue at all. Bigger balcony than my C3. May or may not have loungers (I would like loungers!) Side view might be nice for entering and leaving ports.

7203 - Even bigger balcony with loungers. Some people like the wake; DH has expressed a query that we won't really see much from the balcony. Also queried whether there would be a tunnel effect and it would be windy. Presumably (given location of both cabins) not a lot of difference in the amount of movement we may feel in stormy / choppy weather.

Aarghhh. Should I be happy with what I've now got, or is it worth moving to the sunset view one? Of course the option I probably should have gone for is stick with the C3 one and tried for OBC!! But to be honest, I've coveted these cabins ever since I first booked and had thought I couldn't justify the extra cost.

    Thank you!

  14. Thanks - I'll only go for it though if the price makes it worth it AND I can persuade UK Celebrity to let me change my Concierge category. I shall be very content with the stateroom I already have, but I am curious about those sunset cabins, and what it's like watching the wake - and a week's cruise isn't too long if I don't like it after all. I tend to dose myself up with Sturgeron prophylactically for the first few days anyway until I've found my sea legs. Ah well, we'll see!

  15. Hi,

I've booked a C3 balcony (actually, just changed rooms today as I realised I'd booked a connecting room, so now have a cabin a few doors along). I think it looks like there are several (SEVERAL) cabins in all categories still available at the moment for November, so I'm wondering, as the final payment date approaches, whether there might be any price reductions. (bearing in mind I'm in the UK which seems to drag its heels in such matters). Sorry that was a long-winded approach to ask:

*If* a C1 aft balcony (ie the sunset ones with the deeper balcony right at the back) does come up with a good sale price, is it worth me going for one of these? What's it like going backwards? Does the bigger balcony make up for the possibility of feeling the ship's movements more. I'm seduced by having sun loungers, but I wonder whether it's really that much better than my ordinary balcony?

Any thoughts or experiences much appreciated. Thank you!
