Have you talked to Seabourn yet?  As an essential worker, they might escalate things for you.  Worth a call.  Good luck.

Every call I’ve made I have gotten a message indicating the party that I’m calling is unavailable. I have left multiple voice mails and have sent multiple emails. No response. After telling my travel agent they never received the fax for our reimbursement for the airfare, which I originally faxed in 3/30/20, I proceeded to fax them the information 14 times in one week. They notified my travel agent that they had received it and that I now need to allow 6-8 weeks more. I was told the refund for our extra week would be credited back “soon”. I have emailed my travel agent about being an essential worker, I am a nurse, and he will notify Seabourn. Frankly Seabourn has left a very bitter taste in my mouth and we were once so very loyal to them.

  2. Well, I’m an essential worker and I am NOT getting extra pay. I am a nurse and quite frankly could use the money that Seabourn has yet to refund me since March 13. They certainly have enough resources to send future cruise destination information yet refund or reimbursement... nope. Perhaps you are fortunate enough not to need your refund or reimbursement at this time, unfortunately I am not in the same boat. Think of others.

  3. Our cruise was cut short by one week on 3/13/2020. I faxed airfare reimbursement on 3/30/2020 and waited. My travel agent called Seabourn this week to check the status of both reimbursement and refund. They had NO record of my reimbursement information and stated I would receive refund for the cancelled week “soon”. I am beyond disgusted with Seabourn at this point. As a result of them having no record of my airfare reimbursement, I have faxed all information to them 11 times this week. Surely now they cannot say they have not received the information. I am sick of getting offers for future cruises when they do not have the courtesy to respond to my calls and emails as well as not refunding, reimbursing funds. Their inaction reflects so poorly on a once excellent cruise line.

  4. Mark, assistance at Seabourn Square by from the kind ladies there for flights, no lodging assistance was offered that I am aware of,  but absolutely no Officers made a showing. Cruise Director was also absent. Interestingly enough, no evening announcement such as sea conditions, ETA to Barbados, welcome back onboard for the day, etc. was made that evening. I suspect they were aware much sooner than we realized though no certain. They certainly knew with enough time to print info for those of us that had to disembark early. Absolutely no health screenings, questionnaires departing Barbados at the airport, none in Panama and none in D.C. when we arrived in an International flight. They just asked passengers if we had food and how much cash we were bringing in.... nothing health related.

  5. We just arrived home from one week of a two week cruise on the Odyssey. We were notified at 9:30 pm that the second week was cancelled and all passengers would have to disembark the following morning in Barbados. It was handled very poorly onboard and sadly the kind ladies In Seabourn Square worked all night attempting to help passengers, it was left to them and were met with very rude comments from passengers. Those ladies did not make the decision and were doing their best to help passengers. Now the Officers onboard were absolutely nowhere to be seen all night. It was almost as if they and the Cruise Director, JP, were in hiding.

  6. We just returned from the Odyssey. Our cruise was cut short by one week. All passengers had to disembark in Barbados. Many of the crew are being sent  home as well. Not certain where the ship will go from Barbados but it will not be staying in the Caribbean to finish the last weeks of the season. It was handled very poorly onboard from a passenger stand point. Notified at 9:30 pm that we had to disembark the following morning.

  7. Sounds like you may have been given Godiva in a shot glass. If it looked like liquid chocolate and tasted as such it was probably a chocolate liqueur (and IMO Godiva is the best for that). If it was clear and just tasted of chocolate it probably a chocolate cake shot that I mentioned earlier. Either way its nice to see Seabourn taking drinks seriously instead of chasing the dive bar recipes as they did in the past.

    That was it :) Godiva

    Thank you so much!

  8. On Azamara, we learned that referring to crew members by name in a positive way in a written review could mean promotion or better duty, & so we are always sure to do that. It can mean money in their pockets in a long-term way!

I am so sorry to hear that your writing skills were subject to criticism on these boards in prior postings. I haven't visited cruisecritic in a while, & am struck by how rather...how to put it...tetchy people are these days...how eager to contradict or criticize or take things the wrong way & blow up a simple question into a debate or an argument.

It's made me sad, for all of us.

AND...I think we are doing your cruise next January/February - Barbados 14 days. Sounds like bliss & I'd like to know more about it - like - where did they have the Caviar in the Surf???

Thank you for your kindness! 😊

We did acknowledge each crew member by name, via their survey. Many individuals!

Our Caviar in The Surf was at Carombola beach, the next week it was cancelled due to swells causing unsafe tender conditions. On that day they provided a Galley lunch, very nice experience!

On another note, the Captain and his wife were the loveliest individuals! Often on deck mingling with passengers and always very approachable. Not like those that rarely speak with passengers. Best Captain we’ve ever encountered 😊

  9. Thank you for your kindness 😊

We boarded in Barbados on 3/24/17 after arriving the previous day, staying at the Hilton. I really can’t recommend the Hilton, though it was somewhere to rest after a very long day of travel. Embarkation was very smooth, as usual. We were in a mid ship cabin, 525, which was very centrally located.

Meals were lovely with plenty of options available to satisfy any preference. We dined in the Colonnade and the Patio for the most part, though did enjoy some meals in the Restaurant as well. It was very nice to review menus in advance so that we could decide what suited our fancy the most. So many choices!

Previously, by day two we were referred to by name by anyone we encountered. I noticed that was not the case this year. Not an issue, though it was a very nice touch. In chatting with a lovely young lady regarding another subject, I asked if this was a recent change. She responded that all passengers were to be addressed by name and the procedure had not changed. She asked me for my suite number and I just smiled and indicated that it wasn’t important. Well, the following day everyone knew our name and many other passenger’s names. Very nice to find that the policy had indeed not changed.

The second day of week two was Easter. We were unable to tender due to weather that day. Rather than the beach BBQ we had a galley lunch. Lovely! Passengers were permitted to go through the galley to obtain many yummy dishes. Not a beach BBQ, but it was an excellent meal and really quite fun going through the galley. The ship had a number of large chocolate displays as well as an Easter Egg hunt for the children that were onboard. That evening, each passenger was surprised with an Easter basket (plate) complete with a handmade chocolate bunny! It was an absolutely lovely surprise and I felt like a young girl again!

Throughout the two weeks, we heard some grumbling and a few complaints which made me wonder, what does it take to please some people? I considered myself so fortunate to be onboard such a beautiful ship, being pampered to a degree that many can only dream of. Our experience was nothing short of lovely.

On our last evening onboard, I experienced an overwhelming desire to personally thank each individual that was kind enough to attend to my needs and requests. Unfortunately, I was unable to accomplish that. I met many wonderful individuals that work very hard to provide an excellent experience to all passengers. They endure very long hours, some very demanding passengers yet they always, without exception, have a smile for everyone. To me, that is what makes Seabourn so special.

We enjoyed every moment of the entire two weeks and look forward to the next time we are able to enjoy the entire Seabourn experience again!

  10. Does your ship arrive back in Barbados the day before disembarkation? Otherwise I think that you are going to need a very good TA to assist you. We were playing w plans for a similar itinerary but never booked it because the return from BGI to New Jersey were overnight ! And over 20 hours! Good luck.

Paula, I think we will look into staying in Barbados and getting an early flight the following morning. My goodness, I had no idea fares would be so high...perhaps we should go to Tahiti 😊

  11. I am facing a similar dilemma on American to DFW. The flights into Mia are 7:45am. Too early on debarkation day. Then there is a 3:45pm flight that is all booked for the 7th. We will have to at least stay till 8th to get a flight.

I also can’t find where to find flight ease online to check out Seabourns options. Their link hasn’t worked. Anybody know how to access it?

Don, you have to contact Seabourn or your travel agent.

  12. Like many, our cruise in March will now be out of Barbados rather than St. Maarten. In searching for air reservations, I believe I've met my match.

We are traveling from Washington D.C. and have several days cushion, however, our return date on 4/7/18 we really don't have but 1 extra day to have as a cushion.

I am finding many of the flights take 20+ hours or leave Barbados at 7:45 am. Does anyone from the D.C. area have any experience with this route? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
