  1. I love when DH takes me to dinner on a Cunard ship. He looks so handsome in his tux. I am dressed in my glitter. If it is not a formal night, he wears shirt, tie and jacket. We were brought up to dress according to the occasion. I consider an evening on a Cunard ship a special occasion. That is part of the reason we cruise Cunard. Disappointed that there are only 2 formal nights on my next cruise.

Also for men who do not like to wear a jacket. Please do not remove your jacket and place it on the back of your chair. Seeing all the jackets on the backs of chairs makes the restaurant look  very (the only word I can find to describe this is) messy. And I am far from being a neat freak. If you do not intend to wear the jacket for dinner, just leave it in your cabin,

  2. There has always been a sticky near the beginning of obstructed balconies that was posted by Bluemarble. Would like to view it but it is not there. Does anyone know where it went?  Used it many times and it was very helpful.

    Thanks

  3. Thanks for posting that ChrisMV......I might be Diamond, but I was going to cancel my cruise if I could not have my fish and chips at lunch.  lol     Fish and chips is the main reason to book a cruise. Hope it is still as good as the last time I ate it.

  4. Nitemare...Queen Mary 2 departs on March 16, 2025. Maybe 15th. I will check before booking hotel. lol

Wondered about hotel price as there is a St. Patrick's Day parade and hotels will be sold out and maybe raised prices.

I think it would be fun to arrive at Red Hook by ferry. Just wondering now if the winter weather might be a factor.

princeton123211...I know that uber is a reliable service and a good solution, but I have never used an uber. Do not have phone and even if I did, probably would not know how to use it. (Senior that is not into technology) If I was not using the ferry, I would probably reserve a car service..or use a taxi.

  5. ORV...This was on the Riviera (90% sure it was Riviera and not Marina) and February of probably 2016 (maybe 2017 as we went B2B to Caribbean every year). We were on B2B and could not get off in Miami at turnaround as we were quarantined. We were quarantined for 5 days, Doctor gave me Pepto Bismal and also antibiotics. After I got home I found out that I am allergic to some antibiotics...they give me diarrhea. I know the difference between viral and bacterial, but doctor on Oceania said I was to take the antibiotics for this.

I am sure people on cc will remember this cruise happening. Those on the cruise will never forget it.  Things got worse on the second cruise. Lots sick. When it was announced that we were heading back to Miami and ending the cruise 2 days early, there was quite a commotion. They flew in people from Head Office to explain it to us. Everyone talking and complaining in atrium. The ship had to be deep cleaned, so our cruise was over..

We had B3 so were put up at a DoubleTree in Miami for 2 nights. Higher up cabins were given better hotels. We were out by a highway with no restaurants around. Had Oceania air so had to wait for the day of our flights.

That is the cruise we were on.

  6. You were probably on the same cruise as DH and I were on. Even though we were very careful with cleaning hands, I came down with noro. They kept us in our cabin, with the door taped with red tape, for 5 days and gave us very little food on plastic plates. When we got out we had to show card to get into restaurants. Never want to go through that again. Hope it is not that bad for those on board now.

  7. I am Canadian ( book with an extra 35% exchange rate) and can not believe you were able to get this cruise with an OC cabin for $18,000.00 for 2 people. My calculations make it for 1 person, and that is not with a single supplement. Your TA must be good, even though she did not cancel the cruise in December.

  8. Is Oceania still misting cabins and closets with disinfectant daily. Cabin is ok, but wondering what effect this would have on clothing. DH is worried that his suit and sports jackets (yes, he is the one dressed every night for dinner, show and dancing) might have a sticky feel or a disinfectant odor. Has anyone noticed this on their clothing.

Final payment is coming up and we must make a decision. Not sure I want my clothing sprayed every day.

  9. From the email I was sent yesterday, looks like the Britannia Restaurant chairs do not have arm rests. I do not like to sit for a long meal without arm rests.

The Queens Grill restaurant looks absolutely lovely, if indeed the colours are light green and beige. I will not be eating there, but hope to get a peek at it.

Unless of course I completely avoid Queen Anne because I do not have a promenade deck to sit on.

  10. Thanks Wonky. Appreciate you letting me know. I think I will hang up now to keep my sanity. I like to book myself through Cunard and then give to a travel agent.

I was just thinking that I should try booking without putting in my CWC number and not using FCC for this cruise. Not sure if that would work as the 2023 does not go on sale to the general public until tomorrow.

Also, even after putting in my CWC number, the price was the same. No reduction.

  11. Have been on phone with Cunard for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Have had it up to here with that lady taking.  Want a section of 2023 world cruise. Tried to do it on line. However, there is no place for a deposit, only want full payment. We have deposit from cancelled cruise that gives fcc.  It is applied. However there is not any type of deduction for being diamond.

It just rang again, thought I was through, but only more talking.

I can not get into my CWC account, but that can wait until another day.

    Any help appreciated Please.

  12.

My cancelled cruise was booked with free gratuities and $1,000.00 OBC (It was a 55 day cruise) from Cunard. I had just put down the deposit. Will these booking amenities carry over to the next cruise that I book?

I believe I have until December 31, 2021 to book.  Waiting for 2023 world cruise to come out. Will probably book a segment.

  13.

As a Canadian, I also received the email. I was wondering what the rate Cunard had been charging. Now I know. Thanks. A bit better and I hope that it continues to improve.

I had a cruise booked but it was cancelled. I left my deposit with Cunard as I thought they needed the money more than I did at that time. They still have my deposit, but I do not think it makes a difference. When I book, I will just pay 130% for the cruise rather than 135%.

  14.

In 2015, Queen Victoria left Los Angeles (early February) and stopped in Hawaii on her way to Sydney.

The cruise then returned to Los Angeles and again stopped in Hawaii.

I was on that cruise and I would do it again if it was scheduled. 46 days with lots of sea days and not a long flight.

  15.

In 2015, Queen Victoria sailed from Los Angeles (early Feb) to Sydney and then back to Los Angeles. I believe 46 days. Lovely cruise and I do wish that they would do that itinerary again. I would sail it again for sure.  Looking at 2022, but a long plane ride back to Canada.

Still looking at this one though.

Queen Victoria started in Southampton, through Panama canal and then went back to Southampton through Panama canal.

  16.

Jeaannie55....many people say that there is "ballroom dancing" in the Queen's Room on QM2 every evening.  My husband and I just love to dance.  I call us social dancers.  Social dancing is what is done on the floor of the Queen's Room. I know Cunard does advertise ballroom dancing.  However, on the cruises I have been on, there is no room for ballroom dancing.  The floor can get really packed.  Then I see pictures or videos of the Queen's Room floor and there is ooddles of room. I would like to book a cruise where the dance floor is only half full and not crowded. You never know how busy it will be. Always very busy on Gala nights though.

On Gala nights, there is a professional dance couple that do a lovely presentation of ballroom dancing.

Before the orchestra starts every evening, they have recorded music and some nights have the Syncronized Dancing. This is a British thing from what I have been told. I see that you are from England. You could find out about that before you sail.

Most evenings G32 is really busy. Cover band or recorded. Band is usually good.

I advise you to try Cunard and I am sure you will enjoy the dancing. My DH and I and lots of other people do.

    See you onboard.....hopefully soon.

  17.

I voted for end of 2021. However, my Queen Mary 2 cruise booked is not until January 2022. I saw it in January 2020 (before all of this started) and booked right away so that I could get the cabin that I wanted. They have my deposit and I am leaving it with them.

If this pandemic is not over by the end of 2021, we might as well go back to living our "old life".

  18.

Sdancer....there is no way of knowing which voyages might have more dancers. We usually take the double crossing. Some might cross one way.

I do wish there was a way to know if there was a large dance club on a voyage. Those voyages make the Queen Mary 2 dance floor seem very small.
