  1. Has anyone here ever made a claim for a missed port with InsureandGo? They do cover it in their silver and gold policies.

We just missed Lifou due to a Cyclone and my wife is frightened that they will charge us extra for our next policy if we make a claim.

    Hi Russell21,

I was on that Cruise ( Pacific Explorer ) 12 Feb to 22 Feb.

I have claimed for past MISSED PORTS and I have not been penalised for making a claim.

The only important thing you should have done was get a letter from the Front Desk stating that the Port of Lifou was missed because of inclement weather.

If you did not get the letter phone. P&O because it is 1 of the documents you must have to complete your claim

Download the Cruise Claim Form from The Insure&go website it will tell you all the documents that you need.

You have 30 days to submit a claim.

    Hope this has been helpfully.

My claim has already been sent.

    Cheers

    Zac

  2. I have travel insurance I wouldn’t think that it covers missed ports. I will check but I don’t remember that when I read the contract originally

    Hi Susan14,

Travel Insurance company called Insure and Go has a policy that covers Missed Ports.

Have used them many times without any problems.

The only thing you need to do is get a letter from the Reception Desk stating which port/ports were missed.

    Cheers Zac.

  4. You could say P&O are like jetstar - except they have a better timeliness record! You can easily cruise on them without paying anything extra or you can spend as much as you like.

You can take 12 cans each person onboard, so while there is only water available for free outside of breakfast hours you could get away with spending nothing.

I alway shake my head at those who say they are being "nickeled and dimed" on P&O - of course the "lectures" are sessions to get you to buy something - P&O actually don't care about your posture and want to give you insoles for free!

So I guess it will come down to what you think should be included. You can get food, accommodation and entertainment included. If you want anything extra you might have to pay. Yes some lines offer free pizza, room service etc but you get what you pay for. I would say that P&O is a 3 star line - with research and a good attitude you will have a good holiday but if you expect the Ritz on on motor lodge budget you will be disappointed. On the positive side the ice is free!

    Hello sweetp12,

You mentioned that you are allowed 12 cans of refreshments. Does that include alcohol cans.(y)(n)

    Cheers Zac.

  5. Sorry, we just got off but don't have any photos of the menus. Is there any particular drink in question? Most cocktails are $12, most good beers are $8 (VB for $5.90), wines are averaging around $10 per glass, teas and coffees from the cafe' range but are around $5 for a medium.

Thank you , just trying to find out if the Beverage Package is good value for a steady drinker

    Zac

  6. On our last Princess Cruise ....... the ship lurched left ....... I lurched right .................. and by pure accident one of the beverage menus fell into my suitcase .... amazing huh!!

  7. Hi AussieCruiser2332,

Just recently returned home from a Cruise which went to Noumea.

I agree with " Teegiee" that Duck Island is a good substitute for Amadee Island.

We organized transport from the Tourist Info Centre with a company that wear RED T-SHIRTS ( I think her name was Evelyn) the ticket included Transport to Ansa Vata and Boat to Duck Island, cost was about $25.00 I think.

The weather is quite unpredicable to go all the way out to Amadee Is as it may get very choppy and windy which slows the trip back to Ansa Vata.

    Cheers Zac

quote=AussieCruiser2332;52487714]Hi all. We are due to leave on Explorer of the Seas on 19th March. We had booked the Amadee Island excursion via RCI due all the excellent reviews. On Monday we received an email from RCI informing us the excursion had been been cancelled and the money refunded. Does anyone know why this excursion was cancelled? Would it be possible to book it once we get to port direct with the company? If not does anyone have any recommendations of snorkelling options in Noumea.

    Thanks.

  8. Hi Pam,

I have noticed that Cruise Critic has not displayed the PACIFIC EXPLORER on there page as yet with the other P&O Ships, possible reason is that it is still under the banner of DAWN PRINCESS.

As soon as it becomes available Post your requested Thread on the Sub Forums - P&O Page, I do think you will get more responses.

    Have a great Cruise.

    Cheers Zac:):):)

quote=Pamplan;52445899]hi all, I'm booked on my first cruise : P&O Explorer departing Sydney June 22 2017 to New Caledonia and Vanuatu. I want to do 2 independent shore tours and wondering if anyone else is keen to do the same as both tour operators need a minimum number of people booked to proceed with the tours . First is Tour of Escapade Island - June 25 from Noumea. Hoping to do some snorkelling with the turtles . I have been in touch with Genie from Escapade Tours - she wants minimum 10 people to transport to the island for this tour . Second is the Volcano tour on Tanna Island - June 27 from Port Vila . I have been in touch with Claude from Unity Airlines who runs this tour . He needs a minimum of 7 people to proceed with this tour . If anyone is keen please check out Escapade Island Tour and Unity airlines Tanna Volcano Tour online and put yourself in the list so the tours can be confirmed on those dates . Thanks so much . Hope some cruisers are interested . Cheers . :D Pam

  9. Hello By the Bay.

Are you talking about extra OBC because you were in the Armed Forces ?

Sorry just noticed it was for Carnival Shareholders, is that correct.

    Regards Zac:)

uote=By The Bay;52428186]I submitted my email application at 1700 yesterday afternoon. This morning, at 0800, I received confirmation that the OBC had been applied to my booking. Well done Princess, excellent service. :)
