  1. Day 3 - Sea Day

I put the room service breakfast tag outside my door last night for breakfast to arrive between 7:30-8:00, however I woke up at 6:30 and was ready to eat & my coffee of course. I called room service and told them I was ready and breakfast arrived shortly after. Now I'm going to say this as politely as I know how, that breakfast was awful. Coffee tasted like it was made from yesterday and the food was very soggy, one would have thought they picked it up in the steam-room. I typically don't complain about much of anything on vacation, but my room service breakfast days might just be over.

First off, Thanks for the review. When I see photos like your I want to go out and get a better camera, the only thing is I don't want to drag around a large camera like that. Oh well!

Just a follow up on the photos. I'm on my laptop and ALL photos are straight up. On our last vacation (to Tennessee)I tried taking all my photos with my Samsung S3. It takes great photos but the viewing on different devices is no good. Better off using a camera.

We were on the Allure on the 27th of October, and we will also be on the Freedom on the 26th of October 2014 with a party of 8.

As for the room service, my wife also wanted to get the room service on the 6th day and it too was awful. We will stick with the MDR for now on. I usually go down and get Starbucks for our first on the day coffee.

  2. We arrived 11/9/13 on the Liberty after a TA from Barcelona. I can assure you, no BS, that nobody embarked before 1:00. Walk off didn't start until about 8:00. We didn't get off the ship until 10:45 (estimated time was 9:15) and there were still hundreds of pax waiting in the lounges to disembark. Finally cleared customs about 11:30. With people starting to arrive at 11:00, the traffic was chaotic and the port police were trying to sort it all out.

    I am corrected!:o

I guess lately I have become a cynic whenever I hear the government say anything.

  3. They have been sending this same B.S. on other ships including the Allure on Oct 27th sailing. Get there at 11AM as planned. You should have no problems. We got there at 10:30AM and it was fine.

They started that B.S. during the government sequester months back and nobody is smart enough to put a stop to it. (or doesn't want to)

  4. We were on the Radiance a couple years ago and is still our favorite ship. It was our first cruise and our TA booked E1-8586 Deluxe Ocean view Strm w/Bal.

It was a fantastic cabin on the forward section of the hump. Larger than normal balcony. You can sit and look out and forward. Since then I always try for the same type location when getting a balcony cabin. Unless like my next cruise I get cheap and go to the Dark Side (Inside):D

  5. I wish they would get with Celebrity and offer the packages they offer. The ones on RCCL are really bad.Below is the package I purchased on our last X cruise.

    Premium Non-Alcoholic Package

Enjoy nearly our entire selection of sodas selections on board including all canned and fountain soft drinks from Coca Cola, Premium Bottled Water from Evian, Perrier and San Pellegrino, Specialty Coffees and Teas, Non-Alcoholic Frozen Drinks and Smoothies, Red Bull Energy Drink and Specialty Waters from Vitamin Water

All that for $18.00 per day + gratuities $145.00 for a 7 day cruise w/ gratuities

They also offer a lower priced package for non premium coffees and waters.

  6. I just came off the allure on Sunday and our Room attendant told us to NOT to bother filling out those WOW cards. He stated they were useless and not very looked at. He said that it is more important to fill out the survey you get the night before you leave. They pay much more attention to those. You can list (As I did) the specific workers that you wish to give special attention to.

  7. We just returned from a cruise on the Allure. I have been collecting shot glasses from each ship we have been on. I tried to get one from the Allure and the Lady in the gift shop told me (sarcastically) they don't have one for the Allure. Is this true??? I am looking for the clear glass Square style with the round metal coin picturing the ship on the front. cannot believe that they would make them for other ships but not the Allure

  8. We just returned from allure eastern route and they as I previously stated said nothing as we boarded ship. They did end up shortening our port time in Nassau and st. Thomas. They told us once at sea later on. I guess they wanted to make sure we could not tell anyone on CC (LOL)

  9. Great review. We are leaving on Allure in 2 days (2 LOOOONG Days). I wonder if they are going to have the same surprise for us as far as the ship speed is concerned.

Did they offer you any compensation for the reduced port schedule? Not saying they should have to but curious if they offered anything. Your cruise issue was I guess not expected by them, but if they still have the same issues for any upcoming cruises it makes you wonder. If they still have the problem they should at the least let people know ahead of time so they can rethink their plans.

  10. Just received this email today.

    Dear Guest,

Please be advised that the tour operator has informed us that the Jeep & Beach Adventure Tour will not be offered for your sailing date. The tour has been cancelled from your booking and your credit card will be refunded accordingly. Please revisit the website or once on board the vessel to purchase an alternate tour. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we look forward to welcoming you aboard the Allure of the Seas. Thank you

  11. We are going on Allure the end of October. I have booked Giovanni's grill for lunch on the first day right after boarding. I am going with a group of people and they are planning on going for dinner on another night. My question is (Finally, I know) is there another place you (or anyone else) could suggest to go for a QUIET lunch. We would rather not do the buffet the first day. Way too crowded. Our last cruise on X Silhouette we ate lunch at an outside/inside type bistro and we were the only ones there. It was so relaxing.

  12. My husband purchased the soda package for $52.33 (price billed to our SeaPass after tips).

We both thought it was well worth it.

We bought the package after boarding the ship and walking by and seeing the cups they had set out in Central Park. I loved the cup they give with it, very cool looking.

The cups have a little chip in the bottom which activates the Coca Cola machines you find around the ship (in the Windjammer, Wipe Out Cafe, and by Sorrento's).

I think a machine should be located on the Boardwalk as well. I was disappointed one was not. They also do not have the machines on Labadee so I wouldn't bother bringing the cup with you onto the island.

The only downfall is you have to have the cup to use the machines. You do get a sticker on your SeaPass card you can use to get regular sodas from any bar on the ship if you don't want to carry the cup around all the time. You just won't get all the fancy flavors.

Nice review. A buddy of mine told me that he used the refillable soda mug for ice cream sodas. He filled it half way with ice cream then topped it off with soda. He started a trend on the ship after that.

One question. Your photos are fantastic. What camera/lens did you use??

  13. I am not sure a lot of ports would be able to "accomodate" this monsters. I think that a 3rd Oasis is more than enough, and a 4th and 5th would be unnecesary. Like I said on another post, I LOVED the Oasis, and would sail on it again without hesitating a second. But I am also looking at the nature / pollution / weather impact. Oasis and Allure sail every week, all year round. Its not like they have a waiting list for them to put out 2 more 6000+ passenger floating city. I dont think they would be able to fill them all up. By the time Oasis 3 sails, there will be over 18,000 passengers just in those 3 ships.

I don't see more than the 3rd Oasis happening. I hope not. 3 central parks at sea are more than enough. the 3rd Quantum is enough as well. I just hope they move on and do a new class.

Whether passengers are on a ship or at home they still eat, shop, drive. and most likely they pollute, waste food and many other things the ships are known for being very good at not doing. They cannot waste food or they will loose money, They make there own water, They process their own waste and they recycle most everything they can (which in turn saves them money)

We waste tons upon tons of food every year at home. If the ships did that they would go out of business.

  14. I actually have tried Tripit many a time...in fact every vacation I give it another try (including this one). I'll admit there are conveniences to using it, but I always end up using the paper-copies more.

Best and most elaborate review Iv'e read to date. We are scheduled for a October 27th cruise. We also booked Giovanni's for lunch the first day. I'm wondering if I should cancel and try to get it for the 10 buck like you did. I guess the worst that could happen is I pay 15 at the door.

As for Tripit, I too would rather go with paper. I just don't feel comfortable giving web sites all that person travel information.

  15. Why not just prepay on your credit card you are using for your on-board account. whatever is left either you will spend after the cruise as usual or they will send you a refund check automatically after a month or so anyway. Why deal with RCCL getting it refunded. To many rules to play by for me. Just like the Royal visa. Just cannot deal with all the rules and processes to the get the credit you have earned.
