  1. I was finally able to access the website by using private browsing in Safari. I had no problem whatsoever using my other two devices to access the website.

I have been using the Royal Caribbean website on a regular basis for almost 15 years and never saw anything like that before so I was curious as to others who experienced the "on vacation" website.

I have to say the new booking process on the website is so bad it makes their prior websites look good. I cannot understand how a company this large can have such a terrible website.

  2. OOPS... LOOKS LIKE ROYALCARIBBEAN.COM IS ON VACATION

DON'T LET THAT STOP YOUR VACATION PLANNING

This is the exact message with a picture of the ocean as a backdrop.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever seen this when trying to access the website? If you are not having difficulty accessing or do not get this message that is great, so you don't need to post.

  3. Oh, and I often call ships a "boat". I have been on over 30 cruises (most on Royal Caribbean) and when someone says boat in place of ship I can count on one hand how many times I have corrected them. Wait, actually I don't have to count because it has been NEVER. We are all adults here. But alas, there are some rather prolific posters who have to have the first and last word and be the absolute authority on cruising. Most of us tend to ignore them, make fun of them or feel sorry for them.

  4. I have a few random questions, maybe someone who's cruised this boat before can answer....

If I don't buy the drink package, how easy is it to find free drinks? (Unsweet Tea specifically)

How is the kid care for a 6-yo girl? Fun? Hours for the kids center? What if there aren't a lot of kids, do they combine ages?

I might come up with other random things :) but I'll save them for later.

Welcome to cruise critic. Even though you have been a member for 4 years your foray into posting is new. Not always easy to post, as I am sure you have noticed, haha.

  5. Well, it's happening!! Big Changes to the newer ships and I'm going to guess, trickle down to all ships.

I've been away from posting and just lurking because I have land based vacations happening but still been lurking. Knew where all this talk was finally going. Once those drink vouchers were put into play..writing was on the walls!!

I'll be back to cruising soon and after the initial uproar is over thank god!!!;)

Actually Debde, I remember you and I predicting something like this happening on these boards 3 years ago when they started allowing the children of Suite Guests in the CL during the cocktail hour. So many D+ went berserk! Talking about complaining to the Concierges about the children, etc. Saying the lounge was for adults only. This goes to show that Suite Guests come first whether they are children or adults. It is all about the money.

As you said the writing was on the walls and it has just gotten larger and larger as they started allowing 2 bottles of wine per cabin, the drink packages became available and the 3 free drinks loaded on Diamond and above sea pass cards. It really wasn't that hard to figure out this was coming.

  6. Can I use my sea pass in the casino for chips?

Yes, but they will add a percentage for you to do so. It used to be 3% ($3 per $100) but I believe it went up to 5%??? Someone here may know the new rate. I do believe it was 5 % when I last cruised a few months ago.

  7. In addition to discussing how much you will do together, make sure you are on the same financial page. Perhaps they are paying for everything themselves, or maybe you are paying for the cabins; who is paying for their tips, who is paying for their bar bill. Not for me to say how it is handled, but just make sure everyone understands - misunderstandings about this is the WRONG answer. If you foot the bar bill, prepared to be shocked:eek:

Nobody has to be shocked with bar bills anymore. If you like to drink alcohol drinks, wine and/or beer then the Premium Drink Package will let you plan and pay in advance for your bar bill. And it includes bar soda and some bottled water.

  8. Just as an FYI, if you take advantage of special pricing and you see a different pricing you want to take advantage of in the future make sure it is with it, if you can even get it.

For example, if you book a cabin at $1,000 per person for passenger 1 and 2 and the 2 kids sail free then if the price for your cabin lowers to $799 per person for for passenger 1 and 2 then you would have to pay the current fare for passenger 3 & 4 which may end up being higher than the original booking price.

    Read the fine print folks.

  9. I believe you can get a price drop applied, however in doing so they may add back on the 3rd person rate. Not sure though, somebody else hopefully will know the answer.

I do have a different question on this 3rd/4th sail free promo however. Does anyone know if the person sailing free gets points for the sailing? Have heard if you don't "pay" for the cruise you don't get points. Does this apply here? Anyone know?? For kids it probably doesn't matter too much, but this promo is not for kids only.

As long as you pay something for the cruise you get the points. We have gotten points for "free" cruises with our Royal Caribbean visa card and then upgraded to a balcony or JS and received the points. We have had 6 "free cruises" with visa points. On some we literally did not pay for the cruise fare because it was covered under the points but you still pay tax, fees, and port taxes/fees.

Double check, but I believe yes, you get the points.

  10. It is kind of interesting that on the three Freedom Class ships the DL is much nicer than the CL.

I think that is because the CL's are going to be for Suite Guests and maybe Pinnacles in the near future. It doesn't need to be as large. The Diamond Lounges will be for Diamond Plus Guests and maybe Diamond Guests, but my guess is Diamond Guests will soon be given drink coupons encrypted in their sea pass cards in the future and not be allowed access to the Diamond Lounges.

Hey, that is my guess based on reading the writing on the wall, so don't kill the messenger please.

  11. Do you pick rows with specific people on here or do we have to form a queue to get our turn at having to listen to your rude, imposing of views and "More holy than thou" approach?

I'm sorry that you think me rude. Your post to me was so nice and sweet. I should try to be more like you. Because of course you are not imposing your view regarding me at all. Your judgment of me is the exact definition of "more holy than thou".

Please put me on your ignore list.

  12. Does everyone have a Sizzler restaurant near your home? They have been fighting this for years. I order the all you can eat shrimp and my DW thinks nothing of having "just a few". She is not a thief, and she only takes 5 or ten little tiny shrimp, but it feels wrong to me. Does not feel wrong to her.

Any cruise line offering these packages will always have people who don't think there is anything wrong with taking 'one" drink.

She takes shrimp from a package that you ordered and paid for but she did not. What is that? Stealing from Sizzler. Sizzler knows people do this so they charge more per order. The rest of Sizzler's customers make up for what your wife took, stole, whatever you want to call it.

If you bought a soda at McDonald's and your wife asked for a water (which is free) and they gave her a cup and she filled it with soda, what would you call that? Stealing from McDonald's. The rest of McDonald's customers get charged to cover theft. The shrimp she takes costs way more than the soda. Both are the same thing, theft.

So anyone buying any of the drink packages on Royal Caribbean who even have one drink from a package not in their name is doing the same thing as the scenario I gave with the McDonald's soda. If you are ok with that go ahead. But please don't pretend it isn't stealing because it is.

  13. Wow, first a busybody lecturing others on thievery, now a busybody lecturing others on what they eat/drink too!

Busybody…ha! You joined here, what? Only last month and already have over 400 posts. You sound like the busy one to me, and a name caller too. Sticks and stones and all that jazz. And a thief is a thief no lecture required. Diet soda? The poster I responded to said they drank A LOT of it. Nasty stuff for the body…but hey, to each their own. Everybody has their own poison I guess.

  14. Notice I hadn't said anything until she got on her high horse about someone drinking too much diet soda, "mom." Kind of the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak - and WAY out of line...

Out of line? Hardly. Check out the ingredients and look up some of them. If even one person does maybe they will quit drinking that stuff. Oh and as far as my high horse….well if that's what science is than so be it.
