1. are you freaking kidding me?? I think that language is a bit strong! You aren't incorrect in your statement but this is pop/soda we are talking about...not murder. Calm down!

Anyhoo...I drink A LOT of pop and happen to love it. I MORE than got my money's worth so it's totally worth it to me but may not be to others. Honestly I had 2 or 3 diet cokes in about 15 minutes ( DON'T JUDGE ME :D) and that could probably be a red flag as well. but they were ALL for me and I loved every second of it.

The whole fact is...do what you want but be ready to deal with the consequences. I find it hard to believe that you'd get kicked off the ship over pop but they could revoke your drink package and you'd lose some money.

I was talking about the liquor packages which can total a lot more money and would be taken very seriously. I am not judging anyone who steals, I just call them what they are.

As far as you drinking a LOT of diet soda, maybe you should read the ingredients on the can. Those drinks are full of carcinogens.

  2. while technically it's not allowed, you definitely can. You will only be served one drink at a time but could probably go to a different bar or ask a different waiter and they'd bring you a second. I don't think I've ever had someone scan my card for pop/soda. They usually just look at the card and make sure it has the sticker or whatever depending on cruise line. I got a drink for my mom off of my card and one for myself as well in the span of about 2 minutes. I'm not sure how well it would work if you were trying to do it regularly though

Technically shoplifting is not allowed but people do it. Taking your neighbors property is not technically allowed but people do that too. So what's your point? That even though it is stealing, you can definitely get away with it?

  3. Having done the drink package I will just give a heads up to the liars, cheaters, thieves, (choose your title) that Royal Caribbean through your sea pass card knows EXACTLY when, what, how many, what time, etc you buy your drinks.

If you drink a lot and think you can also subsidize another person who drinks a lot you will draw attention. Meaning you could get caught or cut off from bar service for having too many drinks on your sea pass (even though you aren't paying). And the price for getting caught….well it is theft so I am sure they have their procedure for dealing with thieves. There is a holding cell for criminals on board and you could be arrested or kicked off in the next port.

  4.
Can't cancel. And you can't buy it once on board. Up to 4 days before the cruise.
First of all…welcome to Cruise Critic.

You can cancel but will be liable for all items purchased on board at the current prices per item.

You have up to 4 days before the cruise to purchase online. Once on board you can purchase the package immediately. They will have a table set up for this, it is hard to miss when boarding.
  5. Q: Can I cancel or change any of my Wine & Beverage packages?

A: Orders may be modified up to four days before the sail date either online or by calling (800) 398-9819.

Once onboard, the guest may cancel or change their package for onboard credit. However, any consumed items will be charged.

I interpret RC's answer to mean that if you cancel the package once you have begun to use it, they will go back and charge you PER DRINK for everything that you have so far consumed.

    I could be wrong. :)

Well you could be…but you are not. You are correct on this one.

  6. You want a steal......book a cruise on Celebrity with the 1-2-3 Go Promo and you get their classic package for free and two can upgrade for 23/day to their premium package which is comparable to the 130/day you need for the top end package on RCI. Also, Celebrity's limits are 12.00 across the board on mixed drinks, wine and beer.

Yes, but that is Celebrity. A lot of us Royal Caribbean cruisers are not quite ready for a lower key, quieter, early to bed cruise. Someday, just not yet.

  7. OMG…..don't get me started. Royal Caribbean offering free calendars and a "chance" at a free cruise? For Diamond and up members only?

Sorry…I must get 6 or 7 free calendars a year from various businesses. And a chance to win a cruise? Is it a chance every sailing in December or in totality over the month of December? Makes a difference.

    Love Royal Caribbean, but c'mon.

  8. First of all I resent your "idiot Texan" remark, not called for. We have cruised out of Galveston and the last time was in March and it was not a good experience. We've gone out of Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale and

Vancouver BC. Of all Vancouver was the best, no problems whatsoever. Problems can happened anytime anywhere, just roll with the punches and enjoy your cruise.

rraider1961 is a Texan. He was criticizing Beachin2 who he believes thinks Texans are idiots. Re-read the post please.

  9. Looking at premium that includes frozen alcohol too ...

Is there a limit on how many drink you can get a day? During a time period?

I don't even know how much drinks cost on ships anymore ...

Yes, definitely worth it if you drink at least five drinks a day. Includes wine up to $12 a glass which is most wines. Includes bottled water and soda from the tap. Includes most beers and all cocktails up to $10, which again includes most cocktails. Also includes gratuities.

Most mixed drinks are @ $6.50 to $8.00. Martinis @ $8.50 to $9.50. Beers start around $5 and up. The package has improved since we had it, with the addition of bottled water and more expensive wines. So it is really a good buy now!

We had the Premium drink package in October and loved it. Only signed one receipt and the bar servers treated us well. So nice to not have that bill at the end of the cruise. If you are even thinking of getting it…then get it. You won't be sorry.

Oh …and no limit on drinks per day and no time limitations.

  10. Pompous, hmmm...and some folks are know it all blowhards that have no facts or concrete evidence, but have "heard" things....:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I am not sure why you would call someone a know it all when they are making a guess. Everything I stated is factual. These things have all occurred. My guess is only my guess, nothing know it all or blowhard about it.

  11. And "actually" you will have access to the CL lounge, so relax and don't let certain know it alls, or "rumors" influence your silly worries...

I can't tell whether you are male or female but I can certainly tell that you are pompous by this comment of yours. Silly worries indeed.

My guess is that D+ will lose access to the CL within the near future. My guess is based on first hand observation of overcrowding, comments from various Concierges regarding complaints from Suite Guests, the creation of large Diamond Lounges on newer ships and retrofitting existing ships with Diamond Lounges, the allowance of 2 bottles of carryon wine per cabin, the creation of the all you can drink packages, the experimentation with drink vouchers and most recently the changes to the loyalty program at Celebrity.

This is my guess based on my observations. You may not agree, but you do not know anything more definitive than any of us on this thread.

  12. Thanks for confirming what I thought to be true. The good outweighs the inconveniences with Tapatalk. I just wish there was a way to "unparticipate". This thread in particular has taught me much about the thoughts going on in some people's heads about C and A, and frankly from some, I am just shocked, at a time when little shocks me any more. Just a few thoughts, since this is my last post on this thread:

-I'm absolutely appalled at the disrespect of people for other people. We leave on a cruise in 15 days at the end of which, we will be D+. We are excited about getting to D+, and it has NOTHING to do with "thinking we are better than someone else", "soaking up the resources of the CL" or other comments I have seen here. It provides additional perks that save us money.

-All of you who stay in suites and wish "to banish lowly D+ folks from the CL" while I agree that you should have a special place to go that isn't crowded

especially considering the amount of money you pay to stay in those staterooms, no amount of money paid should give you a license to be unkind to others, and I understand that not all suite purchasers hold your disdain for D+ members in the CL. Just some of you are so vocal about it.

In 20 RCCL cruises, I have never felt the need to stay in a GS or above as I would rather spend my money on MORE trips, and some aren't cruises. Our D+ has been mostly earned by staying in promenade to regular balcony rooms on cruises, and the old system of getting a weeks credit for a three night sail was not an option for us due to our location. All I am saying is, we EARNED our perks as well. It took eight years of sailing.

Finally, we won't be "soaking up the resources" in the CL, as the most we have is ONE drink or glass of wine prior or after dinner. We don't use the lounge as an alternative to purchasing an alcohol package.

The final straw for me on this thread was last week when a member posted here about the "near do wells and wanna bes" sailing and told ME I was not in the CC in crowd, that I was a nobody here. Online I found out this person joined CC in the spring of 2013. I don't need a Person new to CC to tell me what my value is here. My value is in helping others and meeting new friends.

I love CC. We have made wonderful friends here and on most threads, have found kind, helpful people with whom we have worked together to enhance our

cruise experience, provide and solicit helpful cruise information, and with whom we have planned shore excursions and events. Many of the comments on this thread are not the the CC I know, thank goodness, have not been the opinions of but a handful of cruisers we have met on RC.

And, with that, I have posted my last comment on this thread. Let the bashing of levels in C and A continue, as I'm sure it will, and the superiority of some continue. Honestly, I think it would be futile to hope for anything else here. Bye bye and back to boards where people are interested in helping each other,

sharing the common love and excitement of a cruise, and are civil and kind to others.

  13. I finally received a response from C&A in regards to the rumor circulating about changes and also in regards to my concern that we are going to be Diamond status on the second leg of our B2B in January, see below:

    Dear Bernadette,

Thank you for your e-mail. We apologize for any delay in our response.

Recently, the Crown & Anchor Society launched a pilot test program on

Independence of the Seas in which we loaded drink vouchers onto eligible

Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle Club members Sea Pass cards. This program supplemented the happy hour experience by providing guests with the flexibility to enjoy complimentary beverages within a larger variety of locations across the ship. It also provided our higher tier members with the freedom to enjoy these beverages outside of the lounge while socializing with friends and family members that may be of a different tier level. All eligible Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle Club members are still able to enjoy unlimited drinks within the Diamond Lounge during the designated happy hour event. Please note that we have not announced any additional ships or sailing dates that will experience this pilot test program.

At this time, Royal Caribbean International has not announced any plans to amend or curtail Diamond, Diamond Plus, or Pinnacle Club members access to the Diamond Lounge.

We encourage you to speak with the Loyalty & Cruise Sales Staff onboard the first leg of your consecutive cruise vacation to ensure that you receive your correct Diamond tier level benefits for the second leg of your consecutive cruise vacation.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again. Our Crown & Anchor Society representatives will be happy to assist you. For your convenience our contact information is provided below.

Rory and Bernadette, we look forward to welcoming you, our valued Emerald Crown & Anchor Society members, onboard Liberty of the Seas in January, 2014.

    Sincerely,

    Gerry Strafford

    Crown & Anchor Society

Don't you just love Corporate-speak? They could announce tomorrow or never. All we know is they haven't announced.

  14. The wife and I are taking a 10 day winter cruise out of Baltimore on the Grandeur. Options are either an aft corner Jr Suite or a forward Royal Family Suite. Price difference of $600. Question I have is it worth it? I've read that there is overhead noise in the forward suite.

    Thanks for any response

Are you talking a $600 difference between a JS and A Royal Family Suite? For $600 take the Royal Family Suite. Are you kidding that you are really considering NOT do so???
