  1. We were on the Sky last month and the tenders did not appear to be handicap friendly. You enter the tender from the ship on the top deck. To get off the tender at the island, you go down quite a few steps and exit through the end of the boat on the lower level of the tender.

To get on the tender at GSC, you enter through the lowered end gate. To get off, you have to go up the stairs to get to the ship entrance on the top deck.

  2. Our Sky cruise had a few issues that left a bad taste in our mouth, but after talking with NCL, we have decided to give another try. We have picked out the Getaway for April 2015. Our DD will have just turned 13. What types of activities will there be onboard for her to do? All of the recent reviews I have seen have been for the Eastern and we are going Western.

    TIA!

  3. We are staying in room 9069 on the Sky in 2 weeks for our honeymoon. Can someone tell me if we have an indoor or outside muster station. I am unable to stand for long periods of time due to a leg injury plus I don't think I would be able to handle the standing outside in the heat bunched up with lots of other people. This of course is the one thing I have thought about that I forgot to mention to the special needs dept.

    Thanks

  4. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and advice. I'm sitting here now, kicking myself repeatedly for not thinking of contacting our Senator or Congressman. That is an excellent suggestion!

It may well be too late to get the passport before we leave, but at least maybe we can get some forward momentum on the application.

It's easy enough to get a notarized copy of our custody papers as that is a 20 minute trip to the courthouse. The pain is going to be getting the certified birth certificate by making a side trip to Atlanta (for our flight) via Birmingham, but such is life. At least we have an alternate plan.

This has to be in the top 5 of the most ridiculous and annoying things I've experienced in my life. When it's time to renew his passport, I think I'll start a year in advance. Just maybe that will give our wonderful government employees enough time to return it on time.

I am not sure if you are aware of this but in GA you can get birth certificates at ANY county health dept. Just jump down to Dalton right quick and pick up a copy. I have done this for both my kids and my birth cert.

  5. I have a question. We are traveling on birth certificates and drivers license. His address on his DL has not been changed. There is not really enough time to get the hard copy before we leave, it will cut it close. I am traveling in my maiden name because I know I wont have mine changed yet.

  6. I love how NCL accommodates my 4 year old with a life threatening latex allergy, keeping her safe while maintaining the balloons for all of the other guests.

Thank you for the reassurance about allergies. I have a pretty nasty food allergy and have been kinda leary with it. Any artificial sweeteners and I begin having problems and no dr in their right mind would allow me to stay on the ship once things start acting up.

  7. Thank you for posting this thread. I am going to be taking my first NCL Cruise (5th overall) in just under 2 months for my honeymoon and had been 2nd guessing our decision to sail, due to all of the negative feedback I have been seeing on the boards.

I do have a question about the Dressy or not night. We will have our wedding clothes with us (but they are not traditional wedding attire. I am wearing a purple knee length dress and cowboy boots, he is wearing black jeans, purple shirt, boots, and string tie.) Will we stand out or look awkward? We want to get a few pics taken of us dressed in our wedding clothes.

  8. I am having an Oh Crap moment! I have a programmable valve in my head that is set with magnets, and can be reset by metal detectors. My wallet was stolen and my implanted device card was in it. I have not been on a trip since this happened. Will I have lots of trouble with security since I can't walk through the detectors? I can be wanded from the neck down as well as patted down. I don't want to cause much of a stir at security, I prefer to keep it on the low side and not cause undue attention. I have been to several courthouses without the card and not had an issue. You can see the indention in the top of my forehead where the valve goes in.

  9. I have recently upgraded to a Nikon 3300 DSLR from my Cannon point and shoot. I am really just now getting comfortable with it, but I love it and am looking forward to taking more wonderful pics with it ( I have taken some pretty good ones of my daughter on the sly). My fiancé and I are going on NCL Sky in June for our honeymoon and I really want to take my Nikon with me, but I do not want to take it out on GSC because of the sand. Do you travel with more than 1? I hope to capture some great pics while we are away.
