I found out the answer to my own question. Open house for Royal Babies/Tots is from 2 pm - 5pm on day 1. Hope this helps others. Cheers.

Were you able to get a schedule of when they will be open during the cruise? I want to plan a dinner with my husband but I think they close and reopen around dinner times.

  2. I'm thinking about getting a wagon stroller for my son for our June cruise. He'll be 22 months. I am concerned about him being able to nap while we are in port. Another things is it needs work somewhat ok in the sand. We live in Florida so it will be used for the beaches here as well. I don't want it to be obnoxiously big, especiallyon the cruise ship. I'm not adding any more kids either.

Maybe if you don't leave the pier area, since Costa Maya has a pool (but no beach) and restaurants and shopping versus just restaurants (better) and shopping (better) in Cozumel.

That's exactly what I meant - at the port since that is what the OP asked about. Thanks for trolling instead of adding anything worthwhile to the conversation!

  5. There's more to do there than cozumel. We had a great time at the pool. I think we had to get 2 drinks or food to get free chairs for the whole day. Definitely something we would have done abyway. We also went to the avriary which was very cool. We are.going back in June with 2 kids (22mo and 15 years) and looking forward to the port.

They also have dolphin swim encounters you could do. Lots of shops and restaurants. Fish pedicures. I recommend looking at YouTube videos of the port to get a better idea.

You choose your check in time. The most choices of check in time is as soon as online checkin opens.

But,,, also remember to go to Ocean Adventure and register your child as soon as you embark for child minding. And you need to make reservations, first come first serve for their services.

Post #78 on the link below has photos of the baby minding facilities.

Thank you for the tip! I have done a lot of research about OA and will register but am not sure how much, if any, we will leave the baby. My husband is way protective, lol.

Reservations need to be made once onboard with a dining package.   The packages are at a discounted rate, thus the reason for having to wait until onboard.

Those paying full prices are able to make reservations prior to boarding through the cruise planner.  I have found with the packages I have booked, dining early is an easier time to get reservations than prime time of 7 or later.

Thank you! I kinda figured earlier was easier than later but just didn't want to worry about it as soon as we get on the ship.

  8. It has been a few years since I have been to Grand Cayman and remember there being a ton of tour operators that offer a tour to Stingray City when you get off the cruise ship. Has anyone who has recently been know if they are still there and the average price of the tour? I hesitate to book something online prior to sailing since this port is missed a lot of the time due to inclement weather.

Costa Maya is 100% a cruise ship port, so everyone there (and there's not many) knows where their paycheck comes from.  I understand nearby Mahahual is sort of a retirement/cheap resort/place where people from other countries relocate.

Which is all to say that I felt perfectly safe there.  This area is quite remote so I doubt the drug cartels would be interested in it.

I understand that and I didn't make myself clear; I was actually thinking of making reservations for Maya Chan and concerned about the safety of getting and being there.

  10. Are they still beheading Americans in Mexico? Asking for a friend... 😂

But really, is it any safer to travel outside the port now? I'm not usually leary about leaving the port areas except for Mexico with all the recent(ish) reports.

  11. $1000 total. I'm not sure we would end up spending that much onboard. My boyfriend can drink a lot but I don't. Plus we have 4 days at port and only 2 at sea. I think between our drinks, 3 specialty restaurants, and internet for 1 of us, it will be less than $1000. I won't use the excursion credits. I am very comfortable researching and booking those not through a cruise line.

I did just get an offer to bid on a mini-suite so the ship must not be filled to capacity so I will continue to watch the price. Maybe it will go down and I can upgrade and get the perks.
