  1. Dear Robyn,

We have thoroughly enjoyed your "Live on the Freedom of the Seas"!!

Our son and his new bride are on the Freedom on their honeymoon. I must admit he's a man of few words so your wonderful account of this cruise will obviously "fill in the blanks" for us.

Your photos are amazing ... go IPhone 6. We have savored over your menu listings -- we treated them to Chops last night and sincerely hope the filet proved to be mouthwatering.

Again, thank you for taking the time to offer this very informative blog for all of us who are still at home .

    Have a safe trip home,

    C.J.

  2. Hello all,

Hoping I might receive some suggestions --

My son and his bride (as of Nov 2016) will be celebrating their honeymoon on Freedom of the Seas. They plan on departing Atlanta by car the day before cruise departure. They are looking for suggestions for a hotel and nice restaurant as they will be celebrating her birthday.

My knowledge of Florida tells me once you transit through the Orlando area there isn't a lot of choices until you reach the coast of Florida. The ship is due to depart at 5:30 pm so there isn't a need to wake at zero dark thirty to head for Ft Lauderdale.

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

  4. Thank you for your swift responses.

I was aware of the "same number of passengers in the stateroom" rule for Early Saver but hoped Carnival might be willing to open those 3 passenger aft balconies to 2 passengers as opposed to sailing with them empty.

I will continue to watch but still very pleased with the fare I got when I booked. Looking forward to some much needed rest and relaxation!!

Again, thank you and I'm so grateful for all of you on this forum ... you've been a wealth of information over the years!

  5. I have cruised exclusively on Carnival but my upcoming May cruise is my first booking with Early Saver. I'm learning the ins and outs of Early Saver and I was very fortunate to have received a $50 OBC because of a posting here. I wasn't aware I could send in a price adjustment until I read others had and were successful with the Last Call Early Saver promotion.

My question is this - if I "pretend book" my cruise for two passengers and choose an aft balcony, there are none available. Yet, if you try to book an aft balcony for three passengers, there are approximately 10 available. As the countdown to the cruise continues, if Carnival were to offer the available 3 passengers aft balconies at a lower fare than I paid, would I qualify for Early Saver OBC despite my booking a two passenger stateroom?

Thank you for any information you can provide.

  6. Originally, I had no preference to any particular airline. Started checking and Delta and Alaskan were the only airlines to offer nonstop. Hubby's vacation time is limited and we were trying to fly in the day of cruise departure (June 2nd). There are connecting flights available but not sure whether we would be cutting it extremely short in getting from SEA TAC to Pier 91. Then my brother chimed in with an offer to purchase one RT ticket with his Delta Skymiles.

So...we are saving by only having to purchase one ticket but it would be very nice for the one ticket not to total nearly $600 (especially when fare was $450 13 days ago)!! Guess I'm surprised there has been such up and down activity this far out from departure date.

Suppose I will keep checking...perhaps around 3pm next Tuesday?? LOL :)

  7. OMG - will airfares stop climbing????

Sailing on Carnival to Alaska June 2015. Started watching fare from Atlanta to Seattle on 6 Sept. Fare was $450 and called a friend to see if she thought it was a good price. She said go for it and I checked back to Delta's website and it had gone up to $583. Decided to wait and keep checking...today it has gone up to $589.

If this keeps up, I'm going to have to start walking to Seattle and hopefully arrive by June!!! :(
