In the "Project Discovery" thread, @Jumping Cruiser posted this:

I would tend to agree. Project Discovery may look something similar to this. Yes, it's a parabolic bow.  Anyway, to me it does have a slight Royal Caribbean vibe to it. Looks like the bridge may be deck 10 (like Voyager/Freedom class) or 11. For reference, Radiance is 9, Odyssey, Oasis and Icon are 12. and a pool deck maybe at 14 (counting a deck 13). So might need to drop a deck or 2 depending on where they decide they want to be able to take her?

Quite the interesting artist's rendition for sure !

Ok, the long-used "raked bow" is what I was referring to.  See how pretty?     As opposed to the second 2 ... just hideous.

And that design was supposed to, in part help the ship to operate smoother in rough water. A very technical term was used when it was fist announced. But, anyone that's travelled on a ship with this different bow design care to comment as to if you've found a difference in the different sea conditions.

I agree with you about Celebrity. On Apex right now, which is probably my favorite ship. I like Oasis class ships and enjoyed Icon, but Apex is the perfect size ship in my world. Also helps that you rarely see kids on most Celebrity cruises. No doubt there will be lots of people happy if RCI announces a new smaller class ship, but I still believe the majority of RCI cruisers, which by definition only has to be 51% (using whole numbers), will not care too much about a new smaller class ship. If/when they officially announce Project Discovery, I will be curious to see how many “features” they can fit on a smaller ship and what the price point will be with cruise fares.

Just an FYI, l like all classes of RCI ships. Over the next few months I have cruises booked on Freedom, Independence twice, Radiance, Grandeur and Enchantment.

You can be certain that the Planning Department in Miami have been kept busy in designing the Discovery class ships.

All correct statements. I also thought the "big" announcement would be Project Discovery since Michael Bayley has said they hope to announce it this year. It does seem like it's being mentioned more frequently at the Captain Q&A's (and maybe just because more people are asking), so I'm hoping that is a good sign.

But correct. No official announcements have been made up to this point.

When Royal builds new ships, people will come no matter what. Can you imagine the day that the Discovery class bookings open up? And you thought Icon beat all booking records..lol..lol..

Depending on original itinerary most ships have been redirected to Grand Turk, The Dominican Republic, or Grand Cayman as indicted. (and perhaps others)  Some may have resulted in a day at sea if not other port of call was available or convenient.

Not sure if that is answering your question.

Yes it does, I was trying to get an idea of what some of the different ships were doing for the Labadee itinerary change. Now I'm well informed.

Bottom line don't pack the pants till after dinner...You have time to change out of pants into shorts, before your bags go in the hallway. That is not to say I haven't seen some questionable attire in specialty rests...Not my business so whatever floats their boat...Also, I have worn shorts in the theater and never been told not to..

That too is very good information go by by Hawkstar33..With thanks !!! A bit off the topic but would you know if there's a Cafe that people can obtain slices of pizza  on the Silhouette?

I think you are confusing questions.  The title of your thread asked if evening chic is enforced on the final night.  The final night is not ever a chic night.  It is always a smart casual night.

Both dress codes say no shorts in the dining room or specialty restaurants

What's the dress up difference between a smart casual and evening chic, please describe.

Potentially it plays out in a lot of ways.

    1) You could go to the buffet.

    2) You could pack your long pants in your carry on.

    3) You could not close your suitcase until you get back to your room, put your long pants in it, and then set it outside.

    4) You could wear your long pants the next morning.

    5) You could hope the Maitre’D doesn’t kick you out of the MDR and switch to option 1) if he does.

    6) You could eat dinner, go back to your room change clothes, put your suitcase out, and go to the show.

I typically do either 3 or 6, although I have done 4 as well.

#2 got to wear them to head back home in the morning, but a good thought if I was a Floridian being warm enough already.

I've always seen that they request luggage to be out by 10 or 10:30. Plenty of time to finish dinner and toss your dinner clothes in. Plus they continue sweeping the halls until 1 or 2 to grab late luggage.

So no. No shorts on the last night unless you want to eat in the buffet. (I've never been stopped going into the theater wearing shorts.)

Ok interesting...does this mean attending shows in the theatre it's ok for anyone to wear shorts throughout the whole cruise?

  11. Understandable if your luggage doesn't arrive in time on the first night to be able to wear long pants to go to the MDR and Theatre, so how does this play out if you've already packed your long pants in your suitcase and go to the MDR and Theatre afterwards? Are there any other places that wearing shorts is not accepted on the ship at any time? Thanks in advance to those who reply.

No “formal” nights anymore.  They were replaced by “Evening Chic.”  Basically you may wear anything to dinner except men cannot wear shorts or sleeveless t-shirts.

Helen, how about the last night on board and my pants are already packed and my suitcase is in the hallway. Then are they "forgiving" to go to the main dining room, and the same with going to the last show in the theatre?

A stapler free solution is to purchase clear holders to slide your printed luggage tags into.  And then affix the holder to your luggage on embarkation day.  Here are a bunch of different offering through Amazon: link.  The cruise luggage tag holders are all re-usable.

Looking at the many luggage tags for sale on Amazon. There's a 4 pack by Cruise On that fits RC tags for 12.99 and a 6 pack by Maloon for 6.99 that says it also fits the RC tags. Which ones did you buy , any other folks have preference and why? Thanks in advance.

  14. Back to the other subject, are all the bags delivered to the staterooms before the early dining time? My question is, what if you don't have your luggage delivered yet and you're wearing shorts and a tee from travelling, and the dress code is pants and a shirt. So are you denied entry into the MDR on the first night?........ Anyone?
