  1. I was mainly looking for the better group experience - perhaps at the beginning of the cruise where talk might be more towards backgrounds/interests and cruise plans, or later where there make be more talk about the past week.

Or if we're really lucky, not talk about the cruise at all!

Full table/great couples, all interesting......I recommend at the beginning.

  2. I guess I am what you call Loyal to Royal. Last year for the first time in 35 years we tried Princes. SF to Hawaii and back. I was very leary about returning to Princess after such a long absence but let me tell you it was one of the best trips I have ever been on and would do it again in a heartbeat. Food was wonderful, ship was beautiful, you can combine discounts, past guest, military discount, stockholder discount, Amex Platinum credit. I walked onto the ship with over $600 in OBC. Get out there and try it !! :)

I prefer certain ships and cabins. That being said, I don't want the same ole' decorations, layout, et al and have found that I enjoy a variety of ships, returning mostly to the ones that meet my time constraints, itinerary, and value.

I have the same one scheduled (as the above poster) RT LA to Hawaii next Spring on Princess with the same good deal! No flying and great ship!

  3. I was considering getting a water package but then while reading fine print,it appears one selects the number of bottles to be delivered to your cabin one time (Oasis)....I think I would prefer the way Celebrity does it: simply obtain a bottle at any bar/ rest/ whenever one is needed.....otherwise all the bottles have to be stored somewhere in your cabin.

Anyone have experience with this on Oasis?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. I wish RCI would ban all smoking. On my 8-22 sailing on EN, I was out on the balcony and the person in the next cabin was smoking on her balcony. Then in horror, I watched as she flicked the cig overboard. It was dark and I could watch the thing glow even hotter as the breeze fanned the butt, and it got blown back against the ship. I don't know if it blew back onto the promenade deck or a lower balcony. But I could follow it all the way down until it was out of sight by the side of the ship. When we left the ship at the end of the cruise, I told the cabin steward what happened and he said I should have told him. He said he could smell smoke in the room but couldn't find proof. They are instructed to confront the offending smoker. It would have come down to my word against hers.

It isn't JUST about the smell but you described it perfectly! All it takes is one

ember starting something that cannot be controlled!!!!!!!!!!

  5. RCCL does loads of Caribbean which is not my area of choice cruising.

Personally, I am not drawn to the RCCL bells and whistle ships, like Mariner and Oasis. We did enjoy Canada/NE on RCCL Brilliance with great weather and RT Boston!!!!

I have enjoyed Celebrity Baltic and Med Cruises which have a less frantic pace as do the ships into Alaska, like Princess and Celebrity.

Hopefully, I will still have those to consider and will one day try Oceana and Azamara. I still think Crystal is way too pricey for me and may not have the general energy on board which I prefer. I don't think RCCL is the only game in town. Those that prefer 20 restaurants and "freestyle" will have something from which to choose......just not my choice!

  6. What did Celebrity do when they added BLU? Don't really follow Celebrity news, so am unsure.

BLU was ONE restaurant added for Aqua Class......which also added a larger price increase for the cabin.......a great marketing tool for Celebrity as customers seem to love the smaller venue in more of a specialty type restaurant atmosphere......Personally, I thought it was much ado about nothing and would not do it again......prefer Concierge Class on Celebrity

What I have read so far about DD is just one more reason NOT to go on these ships........I don't need to go searching for a different restaurant every night...

there is something about knowing where you are eating and where you will be served that feels like a real brain rest....which is why I cruise!

luckily we cruise 11/2014 and won't be affected by DD

  7. My opinion is that your stating your opinion is no more important than anyone else's opinion, but the fact that the drink package is per person is not an opinion. My opinion about bringing on water, soda, alcohol, etc onboard is the same. I do none of the above and I don't need someone to be obnoxious and tell me I can't have an opinion, but I also hate it when some feel their life's goal is to put someone down because they do follow the rules.

A "hole", what's that mean? Oh, a "whole". Opinions are opinions. Doesn't matter if someone's opinion is that it's okay to share the drink package because the fact is, it's not. It's a per person package, correct?

How is it not a fact that it's a per person package? How hard is that to understand?

Not to mention, there are several posters here who get a thrill out of encouraging people to do things they know they shouldn't. Some get such a kick out of almost daring others to do things they probably wouldn't do themselves. Then, there are those that encourage others so they can say "see, everyone else does it". How mature is that? Reminds me of 12 year olds.

I can't wait to read the whining when RCI figures out how to stop some of the things that people on here encourage. As I've said on one other thread, the fact that CC allows people to discuss breaking cruiseline rules is not the norm. For example, the DIS board deletes or closes any thread that discusses breaking any of Disney's rules.

Have a great day. I know I will. I get to spend it with my best friend that I've had since I was 13.

My generation: 60's rebelled against any standards and now we have a delightful entitlement society with the word "cheating" not even in the

    vocabulary of the culture
