Just got an email. Seems the restaurant still stands.

Sailing on October 14 or after? We've changed what we call your stateroom – but nothing else. You'll still enjoy everything that came with Reserve Collection, like access to a private restaurant and cabana deck as well as all those little extras that make you feel special. (Because you are!)

Thanks.  We are sailing in July so I hope this is still true.

Interesting.  It looks like the Reserve Collection Cabana Deck Mini-Suites are no more.  There are still Cabana Deck Mini-Suites that offer access to that special seating area on Deck 9, but they have removed the "Reserve Dining" perk that used to come with them.  Here is a comparison of the descriptions of a Sanctuary MS (none of which have Cabanas) and a Cabana Deck MS:

    Sanctuary Mini-Suite

    • Approx. 304 sq. ft., including balcony
    • Sleeps up to 4 guests
    • Sanctuary benefits, including exclusive dining, events and entertainment
    • Larger than a balcony stateroom and includes a separate seating area with sofa bed as well as two flat-panel TVs, and premium bathroom amenities

    Cabana Deck Mini-Suite

    • Sleeps up to 4 guests, aprox. 389 sqft., including cabana & balcony
    • Access to exclusive Cabana Deck
    • Balcony with seating & cabana
    • Luxury mattress/pillows, two TVs

If you go to book a Sanctuary MS, you bypass the screen that allows you to opt in to Premier or Plus as you already have Premier built in as a "Sanctuary benefit."  When you go to book a Cabana Deck MS, you are taken to the Premier/Plus page to opt into one of those packages. I guess they figure that if you have a Cabana Deck MS, you don't need to go to the Sanctuary.  But with that assumption comes the stripping away of the Reserve Dining Room.

Here is what I see when I search the deck plans for the room we have booked in July on the Sun. Nowhere on my booking does it say that we are Reserve Collection anymore, and when I go to my app and try to reserve dining it tells me that I can't unless I am fully paid (we are) or Platinum or Elite (we are Elite).  Before when I went to that it told me I did not have to make reservations because we had access to the Reserve Collection dining.  This is all very frustrating!

Um. I have a C1 (Reserve Cabana Deck) also booked on the Sun for the TA.. It used to say Reserve but came someone clear this up? Its not listed as Sanctuary. Did they remove the dining room component to C1 cabins?

I noticed the same thing today (we are in C!, sailing on July 6th). Nowhere in my booking does it mention Reserve anymore, but when I go to the ship layout, this is what I see (in red).  This is the exact room we booked.

The mini suites on Sun will always have the sofa by the balcony. The alternating part of the configuration will be bed by the bath then closet and desk section or closet and desk section then bed.  We prefer the closet and desk section by the bath as it opens up the room and you don't run into the bed immediately. The Sun cabins are quite narrow.

That is not always true on the Sun.  Cabin 9315 says this: Special Notes:
Reserve Collection Reserve Cabana Private Deck Access Sofa By Entrance

And, while I hope to have official confirmation from management until tomorrow, today up at Coffee & Cones on Deck 17, they were NO LONGER offering COMPLIMENTARY soft serve ice cream.  I was there getting my Premium Desert, when another passenger asked for a soft serve, and was told it would be $5.  I question the staff member about that, as it is free on every other ship in the fleet, and she said her supervisor told her soft serve was going to be chargeable for EVERYONE…even if they had PLUS or PREMIER, as soft serve wasn’t a premium desert.  I’m waiting to hear from Guest Services to confirm if that is in fact a new policy on the Sun.  I’ll let you know.

No free soft serve?!?!  Seriously, that is crappy!  I LOVE their chocolate soft serve, but I am not wiling to pay $5 for a scoop.

How easy is it to walk out of the San Pedro cruise terminal and get an Uber nearby? I assume it'll be cheaper that way

We were there on December 23rd and got an Uber to pick us up within a few minutes.  We had a hard time getting Lyft to find us a ride, so we gave up with them.

  7. My daughter (now 12) has loved meeting friends on the ship.  They either stay in the kids club, or hang out at the pool together, or even have lunch at the buffet.  We too will be on the Sun this summer, and we are going with a family with 2 kids her age.  I imagine they will have fun with their "freedom" of doing things on their own (we track her constantly when she is not in the kids club!).

When this occurs to me, I just keep hitting the login button after putting in your password.  Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries, but it does eventually work.  It's Stupid...........but it does work eventually.

This is what I do and it will eventually work.  This has been happening to me since last spring.

Unlike current ships, Sun/Star Princess cabins will alternate every other room  - either by balcony or by door. Including mini-suites.  You'd have to check your specific cabin number to see where bed was located.

    Interesting!
