  1. The last time we went to Alaska (our first cruise) we were on deck 2 OV, and we found that we loved setting in our bed and watching the waves crash almost at eye level...when I have gone to the Caribbean we have had joining balconies in two side by side rooms and we have had a family OV. So for this Alaskan I am getting a JS (mainly for the bathtub so I can warm up after freezing outside, lol) and I plan on using the balcony when we are there to watch the world go by.

  2. I purchased lanyards at the dollar store before we left so that ours would be cheaper (but you could get them from the casino for free in the past don't know if they still have the stretchy keychain lanyard) Around the ship I never carried anything but the sea pass on shore I took a small backpack that I could stuff our things into along with a bottle or two of water.

  3. You can communicate via the carnival message forums for free.

Open a new topic in the Who's on board section. You can post there and so can anyone else with a carnival account.

The Carnival website can be accessed for free on board the ship.

It won't be private, but you can get the information that you want!

    ;) Great idea!!

  4. We have always kept our carry on bags with us when getting on the ship but more and more I am finding that I do not want to drag around my purse, camera bag, and another bag. So once we arrive on ship we do some exploring but we wait until cabins open to do real exploring so that we can drop off our stuff.

  5. Glad to see this post today, in our local area we are very rural and when we do get to go out for something special it is going to be something like an Applebee's or Red Robin because even for those we have to drive 2 hours or more. The closest RR for us is 5 hours if we go to Lincoln or 3 hours if we go to Denver.:( So I have been seriously contemplating getting the dining package on our Alaskan cruise.

  6. I like to book ahead so that I can budget in payments so that the cruise is paid by the time we arrive at the terminal, no cc balance left for after the cruise. The same reason that I use an all cash account, I do not want a bill. I want a vacation that is covered in full before I ever leave home. That way I am not building debt for it.

  7. last year my DS had a severe sunburn that made large blisters on his back and shoulders (yes he had sun screen and was reapplied but still happened) but anyway I asked the room steward if it was at all possible for my to get a glass with vinegar in so that I could sooth the burn and he gladly did anything that he could to help, he also brought ice and water so that we could cool him down some too. He also thought I needed to call down to the hospital/clinic.But when I called down to the hospital/clinic I had a terrible time getting anyone to call me back (like over half a day) finally after they would have normally closed for the night I called the front desk for the 3rd time (one right after returning to ship, once about 3 hours later and final call 2 hours after that) and asked if someone could please call me back because I had a child with a severe burn and I needed to know what else I could do to help him rest comfortably and if they needed to maybe put large 2x2 gauze on it to keep it from breaking open. At that point they gave us meds, gauze and tape, and something to help with the pain and did not charge us anything. I did not expect a call directly back but I did expect them to return my call before they closed.

But anyway that was our steward in a FOV. He was amazing

  8. Not totally out of norm. I have a JS on Radiance booked for May 15, 2015 (before lots of school aged vacationers are out for the summer) and mine is with taxes and fees 2726.99 first person and 1511.99 second. I had booked prior to this sale coming out and called my TA, we saved $550 with the promotion. So yes it is a good deal I think

  9. We sailed on both already - Radiance and Millenium-Class. Alaska with Radiance. Hard to say which one is nicer. Celebrity might be a bit more luxurious (Aqua Class is great) but Radiance with it´s huge windows all over is just made for Alaska.

Our trip to Alaska with Radiance was unforgetable!

Here´s a link to a rewiev I posted on a German cruise forum - never mind the text, just enjoy all the pics.

Wonderful pics even if I did not have a clue as to what you were saying in the post :)

  10. I have only been on three cruises, we did gift exchanges on one of them and honestly I loved it, wish that we would have on the other two but no one seemed interested enough. I like the exchange. For ours the gift was representative of your area- and we did not know ahead of time but I can't remember how we exchanged.
