Yeah I'm not willing to spend another $1K a person on a 5 day cruise. Even though I don't like my assigned balcony room, I really won't be spending a ton of time in it and there's only one sea day. I'd rather use the money on shore excursions and the rest of the vacation.

I wanted to circle back and update you that I was able to win a RoyalUp bid for $65 a person to a balcony stateroom with an extra large balcony. It was on deck 8. I won the bid around 5 days before the cruise. It was a great room.

Cancel your bid. Then go back and bid the max on a JS.

Did you have your guarantee room assigned today? I’ve heard of the room being assigned cancelling the bids.

Yes that was it! I did the bar code trick so I knew what room I was getting for a while now, but yes it was officially assigned today.

  4. It's so odd, I just received an email from Royal Caribbean regarding my RoyalUp bid. I received the below message and there were no changes (same stateroom) so I resubmitted my bid:

    RESERVATION MODIFICATION

This email is to let you know that we’ve cancelled your requested RoyalUp upgrade due to a change in your reservation.

    What ship and sail date

    I see Spectrum 12/19

We will be able to tell you what cabins are left and your chances

Since most ships sail above 100% capacity these days - chances are slim to none

    however

There are 6 JS  (J4) suites available

    are you just 2 PAX

It is very strange that the only available cabins on your sailing are x6 JS

Everything else is WLT or CLS

    Nancy

Yes, that is my sailing and yes, just two passengers. Do you think I have a chance for the junior suite upgrade? We really don't like our assigned balcony stateroom, but there's no other balcony rooms available.

someone said the decor was the same, but on the website, pics of the rooms were different than a normal balcony room, so I was wondering about that.  thank you!

The decor is definitely different! I just got off the Sunshine and I stayed in a normal balcony. At the end of the cruise I took a peak in the spa balcony stateroom and the finishes were different.

Hey there - Welcome Back!  When I used the link you shared (thank you BTW), I only see (1) side.  This is my itinerary shortly, so if you can share EVERYTHING it would be great!

I have a question or 2 if you have time....

    1. Internet Package - did you use ?  If so, which level?  Was it still really slow ??

    2. What time were people able to disembark ?  I'm looking to understand 1st people off, so I'm hoping that is like 6:30 ish AM ??

    Thanks,

    Rickp703

There should be 2 documents in the link. Each document is for each side of the funtimes. I didn't use the Wi-Fi packages since the cruise was so short. I was one of the last to disembark and Charleston is a silent port, so I can't comment on when the first call was. You pick up your own luggage tags, so I would suggest getting to the pick up location early and getting the tag you need.

Every time I go on a cruise, I look for recent daily newsletters to get excited and see what types of activities are offered on the ship. I decided to save all of our Fun Times newsletters on our recent 5 day Carnival Sunshine sailing to Nassau so I could share with other people. The link is below. 11. We went twice on our recent European sailing. The loungers are usually the first area to be used by people and usually are full, but I entered the various saunas they have and there wasn't anyone else using them. The first time was the first day and the second time was on a sea day.

  13. If you reserved the late seating, you will eat in the same restaurant every evening with the same people. No reservation is needed. If you want to try several restaurants and don't want to be locked in at a certain time, then choose my time dinning.

This is totally off topic...  being that you were just there maybe you can help me. 🙂  do they have "real" hair dryers on the ship?   Or should I bring my own?

    Thanks!

They do have hair dryers. I used it once and thought it was sufficient. I would recommend just looking up a Youtube video to see the type, but it's the kind that is attached to the wall and when you pull out the hose, the hot air comes out. They are located above the toilets which was a little weird, but again sufficient.
