  1. Does anyone have pictures of the view you get with Boardwalk Balcony cabins 10719/10721?

We are hoping our teenagers will be able to see some of the shows in the Aqua Theatre and the wake of the ship without the cost of an oceanview balcony.

    THANKS!

Picture No. 29 on http://mediagallery.usatoday.com/Living+large+-+Cabins+on+Royal+Caribbean's+Allure+of+the+Seas/G1861 has the view from 9717, which is almost what you are looking for. We have had 11729, which had an unobstructed view. From 10719 or 10721, you should be able to see the main screen and the pool. The wings of the theater may be partially or completed obstructed.

  2. Just received a phone call from someone at the executive offices confirming what everyone here already has posted: The ships will all receive information about pre-10/4 purchasers and wristbands will be provided in advance on the ship.

I am pleased that they are standing behind their earlier description. However, I was hoping that the phone call was the upgrade fairy (or at least the upsell gnome)!:p

  3. Looking at a map, I believe we had H5, which is the furthest one up the hill. It may have been H4 but I think it was H5. It was not a long walk either way. H4 and H5 are on the hill between Nellie's beach and Barefoot Beach. Unless someone in your party has mobility issues you will not have a problem. The views from these cabanas were great, I would definitely get one again.

    Thanks! You're the best!:)

  4. On the Allure June 30 sailing we had a hilltop cabana on Nellie's. The way you accessed it initially was to walk through Barefoot beach and up the hill to the cabanas. Our cabana was one of the furthest along that path but it is not a long walk - maybe 2-3 minutes up from Barefoot beach. Our cabana faced out toward the ship, and you could see Barefoot beach (the water) on the right. The view was amazing and the great thing about this location was that you could access Nellie's beach via a 30 second walk down the steps behind where our cabana entrance was. So those cabanas really straddle both locations.

Late in the day we took our mats down to Barefoot beach and floated in that water. I have since learned on the other board (private islands) that technically we were not supposed to have access to Barefoot Beach because we were not suite guests, only cabana guests. I didn't know that and nobody said anything. By the time we went to Barefoot most people had already left. But having a cabana even if you are not in a suite does give you access to the upgraded buffet (which I was not impressed with, but I assume it was less crowded than the other one).

I would not hesitate to book another hillside cabana, they were great, and $25 cheaper than the over-the-water. It really is not a long walk down to the water and your attendant sets you up with chairs and mats on the beach.

Jenn: Do you remember what number your cabana was? We are trying to figure out our preference on the hillsides on Nellie's Beach.

  5. I have booked the transfer with my resort pass to Sunset Beach in Montego Bay. Where exactly do we have to go when we get off the ship to meet the JTL transfer shuttle?

The website says to look for the driver with the sign but I am a little leary about wandering searching because we will have the kids with us.

They are pretty visible as you get off and will either be holding a sign, yelling at the top of their lungs, or both.

  6. I paid July 25, 2013 for an Over the Water cabana at Nellie's Beach (non suite) for March 12, 2015.

I am wondering, if I will now have to bring my Pre Cruise Planner Confirmation email with a copy of this post with me, when I get to Labadee to have the upgraded buffet? I am sure the check in attendant won't know what I am talking about.

I have the same problem. Purchased 10/2 for an April 4, 2014 sailing. This issue will probably be long forgotten by then.

  7. Please note that guests who have purchased a private cabana on Nellie’s Beach will still have exclusive use of their cabana for the day. Other cabana amenities include a built-in ceiling fan, luxury resort-style lounge chairs, two floating mats, beach towels, a water cooler with six bottles of water and a personal cabana attendant. Guests in these cabanas are invited to join the beach barbeque buffet at Columbus Cove Café, Dragon’s Café and Café Labadee. Guests who have already purchased private cabanas at Nellie’s Beach prior to October 4, 2013 will still be able to access Barefoot Beach’s upgraded beach barbeque buffet.

The suggestion to carry your dated e-mail confirmation and this response is a good one, but I purchased mine for a 4/6/2013 sailing, which may be long after they have forgotten this response. Fingers crossed.

  8. I know this is slightly off-topic, but I'm curious about this one.

I seldom drink soda at home and have never found the need for a soda package on a cruise. (In eight cruises, I've purchased one soda, and that was for my niece.)

That said, what stops me from walking up with my own cup, glass, bottle, etc. and just (dishonestly) using the freestyle machines? Other than my own sense of honesty, that is.

I'm sure there are some honest people who don't realize that these machines are intended as a paid product and might otherwise attempt to fill up, plus there are some dishonest people who would just like to scam a Coke from the machine... So how do the machines ensure that only paying customers use them?

The machines have an RFID reader and the cups have an RFID chip. Pretty simple.

  9. We were in 11725 on Oasis a couple of years ago and will be in 12727 next month on Allure. Great views as pictures show. Noise not a problem after shows are over. - plus the aft location guarantees you will get some exercise !

Agreed with everyone else on 11729. With the balcony door closed and locked, only noise from the shows ever bled through, and only slightly (not enough to keep you from sleeping).

  10. I wish they had numbers. I saw none.

    However....

If you are looking at the Cabanas from the water - it would be Hillside Cabana #1 or #2 you want. (the far left.)(we had number two)

If you are looking at the Cabanas from back of the beach - so the one's at your far left are #1 #2, and so forth, then the two most private are the second last, and last ones (at your far right).

    Hope this helps.

Just what I needed. Thanks for the info!

  11. Below is the current description when I check my order history. Note that the description now says that we receive 6 bottles of water but still no upgraded buffet:

  12. Okay, thanks. I wasn't sure. The reason is, that we didn't enter the food area from the normal entrance.

When our cabana attendant took us for lunch, he said "Follow me", and we went through a tall locked gate that was right by the Nellies beach entrance.

He said we could go back out through that gate, but please make sure we locked it on the way out. Which we complied with. I guess for them it makes sense as the route is shorter. For us, it didn't matter.

There really isn't any reason to go to the Barefoot beach as far as I can figure.

The beach at Nellie's is great. Sandy, no water shoes needed. and large enough. There was a roped off area, as I swam out to it - it ended right at the foot of our cabana.

There were lots of people snorkeling out past the roped off area.

I didn't take my snorkel set that visit, but I will this time (April '14).

Glenn: Do you remember the number of the hillside cabana you had? I am looking for one with some privacy and that specific number would be helpful. Thanks!

  13. While on our cruise next week, we plan to book Allure for 2014. We typically book ocean-facing balconies but are considering a B1 Boardwalk for this cruise. We would only want to do so if we can see the Aqua Theater well from our balcony. B1s in that area are numbered ending in 19-29. I've seen reviews stating that AT is visible from some...I'm wondering how far back. Does anyone have first-hand experience in, for instance, those cabins ending in 19-25?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I would not book further back than about -25 (maybe -23) since the balconies between you and the Aqua Theater begin to intrude on your view, cutting off the sides of the theater. Don't fall off leaning off the balcony!
