  1. We were on Vision in June, and we also like to have a glass of wine with dinner.  I was given a wine list at dinner but still could not find a particular wine.  The printed list was not the same as what you will find on the RC app once onboard. Later I did find Estancia on the app but it was not listed on the printed list.  Furthermore, some wines were ONLY available in the main dining room.  At least that is what we were told.  Prices per glass about 9.00.  Price per bottle is at least 3 to 4 times what you would pay at home and probably comes with a 15.00 uncorking fee (I don't know as we did not buy a bottle).  Meomi was listed at 62.00 a bottle, no by the glass option. We can buy Meomi for 20.00 at home and have bought it for 15.00 in other states.  If we are driving, we usually bring 2 bottles with us.  Hope this isn't too confusing.

  2. And another vote for Vision.  We are booked Feb.24 on Vision out of Baltimore on a 12-day sailing to southern Caribbean, my favorite.  We have been on both Enchantment and Vision, similar ships.  Enchantment is slightly larger and IMO slightly more elegant.  However, Vision has the dry and wet sauna to use for free.  Also, one of my favorite things.  Showers are available to use in the spa area which may be useful with 3 adults trying to get ready at the same time.  The solarium is enclosed which is nice in colder weather.  Less walking to get around on the smaller ships and a more personal experience as you will see the same people.  Adventure is also a nice ship and worth considering.  I am sure whatever you choose you will have a great time.

One (hopefully) last time for those that intentionally re-create the narrative of this original post, and for those that simply have poor reading comprehension…this post is about Royal’s intentional mislabeling of a product fleetwide…half and half when it’s milk, crab cake when it’s imitation Krab…hoping the customer doesn’t notice or doesn't care. My ability to obtain half and half while aboard is not the issue. What I may or may not have done as far as addressing this issue of mislabeling on this one specific cruise is a small minded view of the situation and not one I am choosing to share.  I can say that it has been verified over the past year of cruising, and aboard this Presient’s Cruise, that staff have been told to provide milk when half and half is requested.  It has also been verified that the Crab Cake in both the Main Dining Room and Chops contains no crab. I have no interest in what any of you do with this information on a individual basis.  I’m sharing it for those to whom such things, like honesty and integrity, matter.  Everyone will, and should, make their choices as they seem fit.

And for my 2 cents about RCL misleading I have another example.... how about the lobster macaroni and cheese that appears on the menu but does not contain ANY lobster.  After ordering our server flat out told us it contains NO lobster.  He wanted us to know that before he brought it out and we complained.  He explained he was trying to avoid any trouble.  Ohhhhhhhh perhaps that has happened before???  We of course changed our mind and ordered differently thanking him for that advice.  I agree with the poster RCL is hoping we don't notice these cost cutting changes.  MY opinion is that it is deceptive and doesn't sit well.  I will make my own buyer beware choices.

  4. Last May on Enchantment of the Seas we booked last minute and couldn't get a table for two.  The head waiter was rather rude and stated he couldn't accommodate a table for two stating we booked too late.  We were stuck with a table of eight.  We tried the dining room for three nights and then ate at the Windjammer, or Izumi.  So that warning could be true......

I miss the 9 nights they used to have.  I'm actually reading one of my old live threads i did on Grandeur from Baltimore.  I've always enjoyed going to Charleston.  I think that port is underrated.  The 9 nights used to stop in Charleston, Canaveral, Miami, Nassau and cococay or Freeport.  They do 8 nights now, but i thought 9 nights had a better schedule.  8 nights seems rushed.

I found Miami to be a great port as well.  I've usually used Miami as a boarding post and never really explored it until I visited on my 2 solos out of Baltimore.  With uber/lyft, you pretty much have the freedom to go wherever you want.  You're still in the states, so most people have data on their phones without extra hassle.

  6. Years ago we were on a cruise with a large motorcycle group.  We did not know at the time of booking but were well aware on embarkation as a sea of people in "biker" apparel was present.  They did take up a large part of the ships venues.  I felt very much an outsider on a cruise with them as they had their own events we could not participate in.  We wish we had known as we rode motorcycles at that time and could have packed our biker clothes to blend in.  Then another time it was a quilting cruise.  Mostly ladies that used the conference room for class, no interruptions at all.

  7. We just got off the Enchantment in June.  Yes, she is a bit rusty in spots noticed when standing on land looking up at the balcony ceilings.  She did drip water from the angled window in the spotlight lounge and I saw resulting warped floorboards.  We booked last minute interior room and found the furnishings the same as our 20-year-old memory.  Keep in mind she was sitting vacant for almost 2 years, rust happens.  Having said all that, I would sail Enchantment again in a heartbeat.  She has such a grand style/personality, I found beautiful details in so many areas even the public restrooms.  Windows are everywhere!  Easy to walk and get to venues.  I adored the Viking Crown Lounge; any seat will give you a great view. The solarium is covered which helps in cool weather.  Did I mention the yummy pizza on deck 9, pool deck?  I like to say, yes, she is old but very elegant.  I have not been on Quantum so I cannot truly compare.  Just my honest opinion, I hope this helps.

I was drawn to read your post.  Like you, we have mostly sailed RC with a few on Princess and this will be our first sailing on Celebrity Equinox in Sept. 2019.   I busted out laughing when I got to the less then good section and had to get my husband’s attention. I read most of your post to him as he was sitting across the room.  After I was done, we looked at each other and he said I’m a little worried, should we be going on this cruise?  I think I get your humor and certainly don’t take personal offence.  I too am an “olden” but think this post is hilarious, entertaining and informative.  Thank you for taking the time to post.

  9. Thanks for your responses and suggestions.  This will be our first cruise with Celebrity.  Going on past experience we have found a set selection of wine on a menu, fleet wide, and we were wondering what to expect on board Equinox.  Celebrity’s web site lists alcohol brands under vodka, gin, whiskey etc. and I was expecting the same for wine.  However, I think we will have to wait until onboard and try something new.  Cheers to adventure.  Thanks again.

  10. I have searched but cannot find a wine list by the bottle or even by the glass for Celebrity and would like to know what is available.  We will be sailing on the Equinox in Sept.  Celebrity’s web site is generic and not specific to any label.  Does anyone have a recent picture of a wine menu??  Thanks in advance!

  11. Bonaire cruisers is the golf cart rental we used.  We reserved on line at www.bonairecuisers.com or info@bonairecruisers.com.  They were easy to find once off the ship but we did have a short walk to their site.  They gave us a map with personalized instructions and sent us on our way.  I believe it was $100.00 for the day with a $50.00 deposit that was given back once the golf cart was returned.  We did not get to see the mangroves as we missed the turn but did get to see lots of donkeys roaming and flamingos.   I believe you can also look them up on trip advisor.  Hope that helps.

  12. Yes, yes, yes.  I am new to Celebrity and their website.  I thought, wow am I doing something really wrong cause I keep getting the “I’m on vacation message” along with being lock out of my account for 20 minutes.  I can’t plan anything.  When I try to just look at dinning/beverage or excursions the website tries to link me with my reservation and around I go full circle to being locked out again.  I too got the standard answer when calling that they are working on the website and it should be back up soon.  Like next year or what since it has been three weeks for me?  Well at least I know I have plenty of GRRRRRRRRRR company and it is not just me…………

  13. The first time I was on Ruby Princess I discovered the brewed coffee at the specialty bar, it was so much better than coffee offered elsewhere. I was told they make the "free" coffee out of a syrup and I secretly wondered if they ran it past an ashtray first. Yea, I know that is a nasty review, but that was my thought at first sip and that is my honest opinion. I will gladly buy a coffee card. They do a great job at the coffee bar with the brewed coffee.

  14. We could not find a RCCL deal for our January 2015 cruise in celebration of my husband’s birthday, so no more loyal to royal. We found a deal on Ruby Princess. 14 days 1,200 pp obstructed ocean view gratuities paid. Lovely ship with English influenced dinning. Tons of really old people, LOL, even older than us and about 12 kids. The ship even had a contest to guess how many children were on board. We have also been looking at NCL Breakaway out of NYC. Looks really tempting but I would like to do a bit more research.

On another peevish note about RCCL I am having difficulty finding value redemption of my diligently earned visa reward points. There are so many restrictions of how, when, and in conjunction with other promotions to use the points. WOW it is giving me a headache.

  15. Parking two cars at the Manhattan Cruiseport for 12 days will be $400/car, so $800 for that choice.

Trinityreservations.com has the Ramada Plaza at Newark Airport for $145 tax included with 14 days parking. You can call Independent driver - 888-816-0973 to get a reasonable quote to go into Manhattan as well as Dial7 and Carmellimo.

If it's $120 each way between Newark Airport and Manhattan, then your total cost is $530 versus $800 plus the cost of two rooms in a hotel somewhere.

Thanks so much for this reply. The Newark airport option sounds very easy, uncomplicated and just the suggestion I was looking for. I will check it out.
