We are going on our first ever vacation without our DD11. She wants to know if we will be able to text or face time with each other.
Obviously at our first port of Port Canaveral we will be able to. What about Sea days, or in Nassau, Cocoa Cay and Key West? I am assuming Key West would be normal as it is Florida. Do I need anything special on my cell plan? We have Verizon.
I never have worried about calling home while on a ship because the only thing I really cared about hearing from was on the ship with us.

Hi! It takes some time to update, but please reach out to us within the next few days if you don't see a change! You can reach us at: (800) 529-6918. We're here to help!
Thank you!
As for the comments about the "free" package...thank you for your unsolicited comments....
-
I changed my booking today to include the free beverage package, the update invoice I got shows it, but when I log into My Cruises on RCI site I don't see it. Does it just take time to update? Will it not show it something?
-
We are only 2 people. I thought it has to be midship vs midship in the same category, not just the category. Aft and Forward are showing a little higher than what I booked.
I will know how to check again later down the road.
Thank you :)
-
The stateroom location does not matter, only the category. If you see any "H" category available, then use that price to compare to yours.
Oh ok, thank you. I will check other decks then, doesn't it matter if it is mid, aft or forward though? When I was booking Aft and forward were different price than mid.

I just tried a mock booking for that cruise and I do see that the panoramic ocean view category is sold out. If this the category that you booked then, as Bob stated, you can't get a reduction.
If it is a different category then I am seeing availability of cabins.
It was just a basic large OV cabin, category H deck 3, midship
-
Thank you both. I guess it is sold out since I can't select a room in my category.
-
I am booked on GOS for October 2015. How do I go and see if the price has gone down so I can put in for a reduction. I tried doing a mock reservation but I can not get to select a midship room in the category I booked, does that mean that there are no more rooms in that category? I do I compare prices then?
Also, IF I find a reduced rate, what do I do to get the credit?

We wanted to splurge this one cruise and see how it went. I wanted to be able to try a bunch of different drinks and not worry about the cost. I don't think I can drink that many drinks a day EVERY DAY to make it worth. Too bad they won't let you pick which days you want the package and which days you don't and charge just for those days.
Exactly and I know it includes soda, but we are not soda drinkers. SO the free ice tea, lemonade and water and my sacred free coffee, is what we usually drink on a cruise, with a couple of drinks each a day. Plus a bottle or 2 to take into port.
How much is an average drink? I like either wine or the fruity drink of the day and DH like a rum and coke or a LI Ice Tea....
-
Buy the drink packages for the three and four day sailings but don't think I could get my moneys worth on a seven day sailing especially with 3-4 port days. I might consider it if there was a private island stop where the drinks are included in the package on the island.

I am thinking about buying it for one of us and then we can get bottled water for port days. I like the idea of not having to worry how much we spend, but $800 for the 2 of us is a lot!
-
Wow, I guess it ads up quick
Exactly why I think we decided not to get it. We never have a bar tab that high for the 2 of us.

We were on her last November. Here's the review... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2130669
Thank you. How was the weather? I never cruised out of a cold port in cooler months, when can I expect the weather to be sit in the sun and get a tan weather?
-
Andie- i have been on the 4th deck midship twice and thought it was great- you could walk straight down the hall and into the bar area in the centrum with the main desk, excursion desk etc and the elevators right there. It was very convenient.
Thank you, I went with deck 3, midship. I think 3554 if memory serves correctly.

I was talking to my husband about this and when I looked at it his way I don't think we are getting it. Neither of us drink soda, we are fine with the drinks they include for free. For us we would each have to drink 5 or 6 alcoholic drinks a day, we never do that, let alone all 8 nights. The package would cost us $800 for both of us, we never have a bar tab that high.
If you drink soda and a lot of bottles water than I can see it being worth it, but for us I don't think it will be.

As long as I can get regular coffee, which I think is free (correct?) then I am good. When I cruise I like my frozen drinks, so I need the Premium also, and DH likes his drinks. Just seems like a no brainer, and will really cut our Onboard tab down....
-
I just called RC and they said that premium package includes pretty much everything just not specialty coffees which are included in the ultimate package.

Thank you. That really helps justify the cost then, because maybe I won't drink 5-6 alcoholic drinks everyday, but if I can get soda and water bottles with it also I can make it worth the money.
Unless I am missing something...
-
Yes.
Thank you. What about bottled water and a soda?
Maybe it's easier to ask what CAN'T I get on the premium one?
-
No drink limit or minimum time period between drinks.
I am wondering then how they prevent people from "sharing" a drink plan. For instance, we get it for my husband, and he gets me a frozen drink.
-
So on the premium I can get the drinks of the day, and my husband can get a rum and coke, or other mixed drink like that?
-
I just booked today also, Grandeur in Oct 2015. So excited. Also my first time on Royal, only sailed Carnival prior. I am very interested in this thread.
-
Oasis and Allure do the comedy shows in a smaller venue, not the main theater, and require reservations. On all other ships you just show up and get a seat.
Thank you for the clarification. So on Grandeur we do not have to reserve anything, except specialty dining if we want?
-
What is with the "booking" of comedy shows. I just went through every aspect of my cruise planner and nowhere does it mention comedy shows. don't you just show up early and get a seat?
-F-
Curious to the answer also, this is our first RCI cruise.
-
How would Midship Deck 4 be? Good location? Pros/cons?
-
Going to be on GOS for the first time, actually first time on RCI in October 2015. Can anybody point me to where I can maybe see the daily current menus, or even the daily activities. Interested to see about which nights are formal.
