Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. great! thank you! I was dreading the extra long wait at the pier before boarding the most so im happy that is no longer a factor 🙂
  2. I just want to be VERY clear with the new protocols beginning Sept 5th for our Oct 2nd cruise out of New Jersey: Children under 5= NO testing required AT ALL (we have an unvaxed 3yr old) Unvaxed children 5 & up require negative test but can now be any rapid (antigen) instead of ONLY PCR within 3 days Im assuming this means no more testing at the pier before we board for unvaxed kids??? TIA!
  3. I was on the Breakaway sailing May 14-22 and Splash academy was open for drop off! the first time since the pandemic started. It wasn't loudly advertised, we didn't realize it until the 2nd or 3rd day. It was open either 7p-10p or 8p-11p on port days and like 10a-12p, 2p-4p, and 7p-10p on sea days. I cant tell you how busy it was because they take the kids upstairs so I didnt see but it sounded busy. Our 5yr old loved it!
  4. I was on the sailing before this one, May 14-22 and they had baileys, I bought it at the bar just outside the garden cafe where they served the fresh squeezed juice and added it to my coffee. For a premium price, it isnt included in the drink package so it cost me $1.95 every morning. BUT baileys wasnt available for purchase in the duty free on the ship OR the Miami airport duty free (as Canadians heading back to Canada, we really wanted to stock up at the discounted price) so there seems to be a baileys shortage somewhere.
  5. We were on the Breakaway on the cruise before this one, May 14-22 which was the first time open since the pandemic. It was open port days either 7p-10p or 8p-11p. We didn't realize it was open until 2 or 3 days into the cruise, after that we used it for our 5yr old for about 1.5hr every evening and she loved it! kept them busy and she didnt want to leave. Hard to tell how busy it was because you cant see them, they take the kids upstairs but it sounded busy
  6. We just got off the Breakaway last week and there were notes up on the walls in the buffet letting you know that gluten free alternatives were available and to ask an employee. Same with alternative milk choices. They weren't very obvious signs, I didn't even notice until about 3 days into the cruise. Enjoy!
  7. We have a cruise booked May 15th on the Breakaway with our children, one who is 2yrs old and unable to be vaccinated. She is required to provide a PCR test to board (no big deal) but we are currently recovering from Covid soooooo that means there is the risk that she will still test positive on a PCR test in 4 weeks. I know Carnival & RC are accepting proof of recovery with a positive covid test but currently NCL will not and we will have to cancel. We are travelling from Canada to Miami so we need to see if she tests positive ahead of travel which means paying for the test multiple times ($155+ea) Has anyone had any experience with still testing positive on a PCR weeks later? i know its a possibility but wondering how big of a possibility that we will have to cancel our much awaited cruise 😢
