1. Keep in mind the regular brewed coffee is included, with many other beverages, at no extra charge as part of your basic cruise fare (some people refer to these as 'free'). This regular coffee is what room service will deliver quickly in the morning by itself or as part of a breakfast order. Some people don't like the regular coffee (including me) while others think it is just fine. The extra cost coffee, which is also part of the packages, is all espresso based coffee and none of it is regular american style brewed/filter coffee. If you are in a suite then the basic types of premium, espresso based, coffee is also no-extra charge when delivered to your suite by your butler.

For a list of other no-extra charge beverages look at this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=28137836

Room service quickly in the morning delivery is perfect and he can give it a try. As for the espresso-based premium stuff; that's right up his alley so he should be satisfied. thanks for the link to the list!

  2. I just wanted to say that I never had any issue with service having a package, . . . . .

Yes, if you order room service, you cannot get the coffee or anything else from the package and have it covered. . . . .

The drinks are plenty strong. The bartenders do not differentiate between ala carte and those who have a package.

We've bought the premium package twice now and love it. . . . . .

Thanks for your extremely helpful reply. This validates my decision to purchase the package.:D

  3. I did some math based on the prices listed on the Sticky and with the knowledge I have of my DH's daily habits at home (coffee and water) and on vacation (umbrella drinks and premium scotch). I think he'd break even but be more apt to try things like the Molecular Bar if he had the Prem. Alky pkg. It will be purchased for the convenience aspect.

    COFFEE:

My only issue would be the room service breakfast. Based on what I've read here coffee is extra? He'd have to take his card to the Cafe Al Bacio for coffee?

    MIXED DRINKS:

I've read that some cruisers are experiencing poor drink service in restaurants and bars. What about potencies with mixed drinks? Anyone detect a difference between drinks made for ala carte or drink pkg mixed drinks?

    thanks!

  4.
what kind of stateroom are you in on the Celebrity Sillhouette? You might want to google for floor plans for it. Unless the toilet is in its own cubicle, you should be fine in a regular cabin. But look at the floorplans for your particular cabin category.

Showers are never big enough no matter what lol. As for the rest of the furniture in the cabin, there's always the bed and the sofa if the chairs have arms on them.

I would definately contact Celebrity's special needs dep't with some of your questions and concerns. They are there to help. They'd know things like whether they have armless chairs in Blu, as it's a specialty restaurant.
We have booked an AQ Cabin. I just spoke to a Celebrity representative who emailed me a special needs form for DH's CPAP machine and large camp chair DH uses for the beach and pool. He also gave me instructions on who to talk to once we're aboard about muster and DH's mobility issues.

I sent an email to the shore excursion department to ask about Level 1 accessible tours.

And if the shower isn't big enough, DH can go up to the men's locker room and use the shower there.

    Thanks for your reply.

  5. So glad to find this thread. I've been knocking around CC Forums looking for information about the challenges of travelling with a big guy (6' 375lb with two really bad knees) and I stumbled on it when I searched the website for information on muster drills. We're going on Celebrity Silhouette in February 2012. I was concerned about a few things:

Muster (Life boat drill) - How do you handle them when there's potentially a lot of standing around. Do the life jackets really fit?

Bringing His own fold up chair on board for the beach and pool and balcony

The shower in the cabin bathroom - will it be big enough

chairs in Blu
I'm both encouraged and concerned after reading some of the posts. I didn't even consider that he could bring his own chair with us until I read this thread. I'm also wondering if I should call Celebrity and see if we can book a Handicapped Cabin or is it too late? Don't you need a handicapped sticker for that or something?

We've gotten around the whole shore excursion weight limit on St. Lucia by considering a trip by taxi to Rendezvous Resort for a day pass. The other excursions that I'm looking at are strictly beach excursions booked through the ship that don't have weight restrictions listed.

I hope we'll be ok. The furniture in the cabin sure doesn't look very comfortable for me let alone my husband.
  6. I looked at all the ones for the Caribbean. It's the weirdest thing. When I get past the first booking page and get to the choose a category, all I get at the top of the page is a note written in red saying that all cabins in that category are booked. Then I try another category and again, the same message in red.

I'm on now and I clicked 'explore' at the top of the CElebrity website main page and picked February thru March Caribbean Cruises. It gave back a whole mess and I picked the Eclipse out of Miami on 2/4/12, Veranda Cabin, and no problem getting to the next page. I use Google Chrome as an internet engine. Maybe it's the weekend and now I"m on Monday morning. If all else fails, call Celebrity via Live Chat or the number on the screen.

    Best of Luck.

  7. I've been trying to book a cruise for two days now, and whenever I get to the process, it says all cabins are sold out. Totally sold out for the 7 cruises I attempted to book-----every cabin category and every date I checked in February and March. So, things are still out of whack with this awful website.

Which ship? I just looked at Silhouette for February and it's available.

  8. Is anybody else experiencing problems with the Celebrity website. Last night I couldn't get into my reservation and this morning I have access to my reservation window but the Shore Excursion tab isn't working and the option to view and book is not available.

    What's the deal?

  9. On Celebrity Infinity, it is distilled from sea water using the excess heat generated by the engines. After it is converted from steam back to water, it is treated like most cities do their drinking water. It is very good water, some of the best we have had. Tastes just like natural spring water, in my opinion.

Hey, thanks, FranklinPA. That's fascinating. I love to hear about engineering marvels such as that. Does that apply to the shower water as well?

  10. Your glass will be kept filled w/ ice water poured from a pitcher. If you like bottled water then you are charged for it.

I hope this doesn't sound daft but here goes anyway; where does the water come from? Are there huge tanks of it in the bowels of the ship or is it manufactured through a desalination process?

  11. Hello,

just returned from Eclipse and all Solstice class ships have the molecular bar.

With my PALL Package I tried all of the 15 signature cocktails and there are mostly super delicious. My favs. were Dragonfly, Berry Patch & Lucky Cat, which are cooled with liquid N2, Coming Up Roses, which was a double prize-winning cocktail and the " 3G ", the best tasting Martini I have ever had (3 G = Gin Hendricks, Ginger Liqour and St. Germain Elderflower Liquor)

I absolutely recommend the Molecular Bar for extraordinary drinking experiences

    cheers Lothar

    Hello Hobbyrider,

I'm sure my DH will love this. Is the Molecular Bar only open at specific times?

    Thanks!

  12. Thank you librarylady19 for posting the above menu. Those drinks sound amazing. I am now convinced the premium alcohol package is for me. I've had only Appletinis and Raspberrytinis off ship so far. I think I could get to like the Molecular Bar.

As far as my DH goes, he prefers the Vodka (noninhanced, if there is such a word) and on the rocks.

Do you know what other Celebrity ships have a Molecular Bar? We are sailing on the Infinity in May and also sailing on the Summit next September.

    GiGiAnn

Silhouette has one so maybe all Solstice class?

  13. I did some research because I didn't know either. Gallery Tastings is near the Gallery on Deck 5. It has food and wine tastings as well as the molecular bar which is basically this:

    "Molecular Mixology

Celebrity’s one-of-a-kind Molecular Bar allows guests to experience libations with all of their senses.

The Molecular Bar is a unique experience that blends delicious juices, fresh produce and the highest quality

spirits with science, gastronomy and art. And like a chef, each cocktail is made to elegantly showcase every

ingredient without masking the flavor of the spirit or other cocktail enhancements."

  14. Two things came to mind as I watched this; one, considering the date this was recorded, I'll bet this was the same storm that dumped all that snow on us in the northeastern part of the US, and two, the steadiness of the hand holding the recording device speaks volumes as to the steadiness of the Silhouette as she cuts through the rough seas.

  15. I just spoke with Celebrity and they told me that the total for the Premium Beveraga Package per day is $62.10 (gratuities included) and that there is a

"glitch" in the system that adds a little extra. That is why it came out to over $900 when I tried to purchase it on the web. They also said that if I were to purchase the package online, at checkout I would see the correct price.

Haven't tried it yet, but it is good to know.

I just looked at the Premium Alcohol package for the 12-night Southern Car. on Silhouette. It is listed at from $648 and when I clicked "purchase now" and choose the passenger, it shows the passenger line item amount as adding the 15% gratuity making it $745.20. And then the Total line shows $842.40. Is this the glitch you're referring to?

I was wondering what the added $97.20 was for; tax, "pouring fee"? Hope it is the "glitch" because suddenly it's not worth it if it isn't a glitch.

  16. When you check everyday and realize nobody has responded to your new thread. So you feel bummed because you want to feel LOVED by the CC community; you need that high. Then you realize, it's all good, the love's flowing, the high's there, because you're cruising in a matter of days, weeks, months, years, whatever. :D
