  1. The next day was Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. We hadn't booked any shore excursions this cruise. We figured the cruise ship itself would be an experience, it saved us some money and we had pre booked a Carnival Kitchen class. I found out by reading these boards that there is a zip line over the pool in Amber Cove. I had never ziplined and it was on my Bucket List. Hubby didn't want to do it. I figured this was the perfect chance to get my feet wet on a short zip line just to see if I liked it.
  2. A couple of random thoughts about the room: I'm not a fan of the position of the faucet in the sink. It is kinda to the side which makes it a little harder to wash your hands without water getting everywhere. I LOVE the nightlight that stays on in the bathroom after you shut off the main bathroom light. Great feature! There is also a nightlight type over the bed. Random thought about the elevators: The elevator numbers are lit up in blue and the buttons have a small blue light around them indicating that that button is pressed which makes it a little difficult to determine which buttons are pressed. On this cruise, we took advantage of the free laundry for platinum guests since we had already been on vacation for days at this point.
  3. After the show I went back to the room and then down to Havana for live music, but it wasn't what I expected so I left in search of ice cream. I had just gotten ice cream when hubby messaged saying he was going to get pizza and go back to the room. I met him at the pizza place and we went back to the room together.
  4. Right before the show, they had the meet the officers. Lee The captain And look who it is! Calvin! I KNEW I heard and saw him earlier on the ship.I feel like this is one degree of separation from meeting John Heald.
  5. Hubby got ice cream up on Deck 8 aft in the military lounge. Hubby wanted to watch a football game that was showing on the big screen on Lido. I went to the A Night of Enchantment show which featured the string trio and the Carnival singers and dancers. I loved this show. It helped that the singers could sing, which isn't always the case. Pre show scenes. Oh, no, it's snowing on the ship! Lol!
  6. It was elegant night and I love dressing up! Hubby not so much, but he does it for me. We took photos against ONE backdrop (hubby's requirement) and then went to Chibang for dinner. Pork belly for hubby: Cheese quesadilla: Chicken spring rolls: Pollo en mole: Green beans: Chocolate dessert with cinnamon ice cream (I forget the name of it): Hubby doesn't like Chinese or Mexican so he was able to order a strip steak from the & More part of the menu. Flan (hubby didn't like this): I enjoyed the appetizers, but wasn't a big fan of the main course chicken.
  7. We went back to the room for a bit and I enjoyed the sunshine on the balcony. I tried Big Chicken chicken tenders and fries for lunch. The chicken was very flavorful! I also had cookies and tried gelato for the first time for dessert. Once back in the room, I showered and attempted to curl my hair (fail). Hubby tried Big Chicken on a bun. We hung out in the room watching OP Live on hubby's phone since he bought the internet plan.
  8. We went back to the room for a bit, but then our room steward, Made, knocked on our door to clean it so we left and hung out in the Gateway area and then watched the Travel through Time which was different scenes on the LED screens and lights on the ceiling and floor. It was a little cheesy, but different. We saw the Horizon on the horizon. 🤣
  9. The next morning we ate breakfast at the Sea Day brunch. Service was quick.
  10. We ate in the Festivale Dining Room and service was very slow, but the food was great. Sometimes when you get a "table for two" it can look like this: Not exactly private. Lol! Luckily this only happened I think twice. A couple times we got a four top and some other times we got a table for two, but it was spaced out better. Strawberry bisque Vegetarian lasagna Low cal strawberry dessert We watched the show in Celebration Central where we were introduced to Lee, our cruise director, and the live musicians. We walked around some more and hubby got pizza (his "nightcap"), I got ice cream (my "nightcap") and then we saw a comedy show. Some more pics from around the ship: Guy's Pig and Anchor: Pool on Deck 8 aft (part of Summer Landing zone) Punchliner (the green chairs swiveled which was cool):
  11. We lived in Florida for a few years (2018-2020) and are contemplating moving back in a few years. Wonder how much one of these would set us back! 🤣
  12. Hubby napped back in the room and I ended up snoozing a bit too. I put our stuff away as soon as we got the luggage. We watched sailaway from our balcony. Another random thing I liked about our room was this gap between the couch and the wall. It was a perfect spot to store our carryon items, with the suitcases of course slipping right under the bed.
  13. After lunch and exploring, we spent a little time on Serenity. The only bummer about this Serenity deck is that the "nap shacks" as my husband has dubbed them, aren't as covering as ones on other ships. There are some that are in the middle of Serenity near the pool that have canvas hung up that provides shade, but it definitely isn't our favorite nap shack. And wouldn't you know it, I don't actually have a picture of the inferior nap shacks. Just take my word for it.
  14. In the floor surrounding this giant model of the ship were coins from all the other ships. I took a picture of every ship that we have been on. I won't bore you with all of them, but here is one: We have been on Pride, Freedom twice, Liberty twice, Glory, Conquest, Valor, Sunshine twice, Vista, Breeze, Magic, Splendor and Celebration!
  15. This was our main dining room. We had your time dining. We also ate Sea Day brunch in here twice and breakfast once.
  16. I'm actually back living in NH now, but snow here too! We flew home to a snowstorm. You'll love the ship!
  17. I thought this was super cool and my husband thought I was a dork. Lol! A clock on the floor! We actually never went in here all cruise:
  18. For lunch, I had chicken tacos from Blue Iguana. They were long awaited because our last cruise was in May on the Splendor and Splendor doesn't have Blue Iguana! Hubby had a Guy's burger which is actually up one level on Deck 17.
