  1. To be honest I've almost quit looking in the JAX Beach area as the hotel directly on the beach are so expensive. We are actually of thinking about driving down toward Daytona were there are more hotels to choose from therefore they aren't as expensive. The we still only have a drive about an hour back to the port when it time to sail.

Daytona Beach is just under two hours to the port IF they are no accidents. St Augustine would be a better choice.

  2. Where have you parked your cars and why when cruising out of Port Canaveral?

We parked at the terminal. Since I use a scooter my hubby was able to drop me and the suitcases off (1 carryon and 1 to Check). Porter take the suitcases and got me to inside the terminal where I waited for hubby. Elevator both arriving and departing our cruise was fast and convenient. Again leaving, the porter had our suitcases (1 additional as we purchased another one on cruise) and took us all the way to our vehicle. Yes they received a good tip each time.

  3. I don't see this excursion offered during our July 31 2018 Legend cruise. I see everyone raving about it. Is it not offered for Carnival, or only offered once on-board? Thanks.

We cruise Carnival on 8/21/2018 and this was open on 11/4/2017. Only showed I opening but that was so they could have it listed on the Carnival site. We’ve had ours reserved since 11/4/2017.

  4. I would like to thank all of you for your responses. We are going to take it with us. We were not able to get an accessible stateroom and have some worries about it fitting into the cabin. But we will work it out. Thank you again. We will go with a smile and everything will be good :)

Have you called Special Needs about the accessible cabin? Asking as it seems some people manage to book those (especially the 4J's) who do not need them as they "like the extra room". I know last year when I booked the Bloggers 10 I was told nothing available, then caled Special Needs and lo, after just a few minutes a 4J was available. I do know they are suppose to move someone not needing the accessible is another guest needs it. What surprises me is I get the reservation and within hours receive a questioneer to be filled out showing scooter size, etc - which I return within 30 minutes. Seems to me without that form there is no reason to leave someone in an accessible cabin if another person needs and qualifies for it.

  5. I agree that a bad CD can have a negative impact as it seems other staff pick up on the negative. Have to say John Heald, Jaime Dee and Malcolm seemed to improve the overall experience in our cruises.

As for M'd, it's never really come into play. Since they are no longer in the tip pool, and haven't been for some time, as long as they do their job all if well with me. We did have an issue last cruise and it was taken care of quickly.

  6. We were there in FEB of this year. Mahogny Bay I highly recommend a private tour with Victor Bodden. We chose to go alone so there were two of us and it was $40 pp. If four I believe it would have dropped to $25. This was for an all day private tour. We had an AIR-CONDITIONED van with driver (Tex was great). Took a cab for $2 pp to meet the private tour pickup aera "just over the hill". Well worth that small cost. The cab pulled up to the Victor Bodden tour "check-in", gave our names and TEX was right there waiting. We had chosen what type things we wanted to do and added the boat ride through the mangrove tunnels which we enjoyed very much. Emails were promply answered and we knew in advance exactly how much our add-ons would be. Believe me, we covered tht island from one end to the other and side to side. We were returned all the way to the terminal. While a private tour can't pick up at the terminal, they can return you there. HIGHLY recommend Victor Bodden.

Belize I personally wouldn't do anything except a Carnival Tour. We had chosen the ruins and river tour. It was HOT, as in really HOT and were told the ruins would be hotter and very high humidity. Due to my medical limits it was recommend by the people doing the loading of buses that I not go. Carnival refunded our excursion fee and we happily stayed on the boat enjoying the less crowded boat.

  7. I just worked a book fair at a school where we could take credit cards. Someone presented a prepaid card and it required us to call a number and give all the information that would normally be needed for a credit card. Wonder if a prepaid card has the same problem using it on a ship?

  8. My take on this:

If I am dining and there is a disruptive child spoiling my evening, I will quietly get up and throw the problem on the maitre d'.

"This child is disrupting my meal, either deal with the parents or I am leaving, and anything I have eaten WILL be comped."

Hit Carnival in the wallet. If they allow unruly toddlers in the steak house, it is their problem, not mine to endure. Some decorum should be maintained by the staff.

As to unruly, drunk adults, the same would apply.

It's rather quite simple, you see.

Lou, you and I fly the same way. I am not about to sit and have MY dinner in the steakhouse ruined because of an unruly child or drunk.

  9. Choose the earliest time available on the check-in. You will NOT be allowed in until the check-in time, however if you arrive AFTER that check-in time you could enter. Also, once you have chosen your time keep checking as I chose the earliest time available and later saw an earlier time so chose that. I'm with you in not wanting to sit at an airport if I could sit at the port.

  10. I almost always book a year out, and once 15 months. But I know I am booked and that makes me grin.

    Enjoy the anticipation!

Booked the BC10 this FEB for next FEB. Booked Alaska 8/2018 this month so it's a full TWO YEARS away.

  11. FTTF allows you to check-in anytime, regardless of the CHECK-IN time shown if a staggered check-in port. You will board after weddings, Platinums, etc. You will BOARD prior to zones. If you get to port early without FTTF you could get zone 1 or 2. Believe me they can have all boarded within an hour of actual boarding start times. We like having the room ready when we arrive and having the usually much shorter line at guest services that's included with FTTF.

While I've read you don't need FTTF in Seattle, the other items are worth it to us.
