  1. suplada- Forgot to mention that I too am a bit of a wine/booze snob. I never once felt compelled to access their reserve list as the wines were great and there was enough variety of "free" alcohol to keep us satisfied. Hard to rationalize buying a whiskey when they will pour you an Oban for free!

Also- Don't be afraid to go into some of the towns and go bar hoping. We had a blast in Vienna and Linz.

  2. suplada- I would 100% suggest the Bratislava tour w/ Dinner. It far exceeded our expectations and we had a ball. The restaurant they take you to outside of Vienna on the way back to the ship is delightfully cheesy and so much fun. Bratislava tour was a blast!

  3. It was awesome. I could not find any fault with Uniworld at all. From the time we landed in Budapest to walking off the ship in Passau, Uniworld looked after us very well. I remember (vaguely) a group of us sitting at the bar one evening and ordering one of every drink on the menu. We each sampled the selection and found ones we liked. It was neat to see 20+ glassses of booze on our table and not see a bill.

We did not abuse the alcohol policy but had fun trying new things.

  4. Has anyone ever taken a Uniworld (or any other line for that matter) from Bucarest to Budapest? I am cuious to see how that experience differs from the upper Danube.

I am open to any nuggets of info.

    Thanks!

  5. My wife and I took the River Beatrice last week from Budapest to Passau. I could write a lengthy review, but I am far too lazy :) I will say a couple of things howerer.

    1) It lived up to it's promise. At every opportunity ever crew member was dedicated to making sure we were well cared for.

    2) The food and wine was off of the charts

    3) Having a bill that read $0 when we checked off of the boat was really nice. (Especially considering the heroic amount of Becks, Grey Goose and Congac that we consumed at the bar).

    4) Uniworld made a promise of luxury and service and delivered.

I woild like to shout out to Carmen and Markus who made the trip very special. I hope to see them again.

If anyone has any questions I am happy to answer. We submitted a booking request while on board and I am actively looking at my next Uniworld cruise.

  6. We just got back from sailing the River Beatrice last week. I must say that whenever we tied up to Viking ship, the Viking passengers spent an inordinate amount of time amiring the Beatrice and asking for tours of the ship. On the other hand the Viking boats looked like they robbed a series of Ikeas to decorate them. They looked cheap and seemed to be a cattle car on the river.

    Just my $.02

  7. AttilaTheFun- It was your review that sealed the deal for my wife and I to book the cruise. So thanks!!

The only problem (if you can call it that) I am actively trying to solve is that it is Masters week when we are on board. It is the only sporting event I really love to watch and I am hoping it is broadcast somewhere on board. It won't come until the evening so it should not interfere with any of the activities. Do you remember what channels are in the room?

I know it sounds petty but I really love watching the Masters.
