  1. So if we charge a $6000 cruise on the Sapphire Reserve we get a $300 credit and 18,000 points?

The answer is yes. We had the Sapphire Preferred card and upgraded to the Sapphire Reserve card when it came out in August 2017. Another great feature of the Reserve card is you’ll get 50% more value when you redeem points for travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards!

  2. Interesting that it's been 11 hours since the OP started this thread, there have been 32 responses and 11 direct questions to the OP, but no responses or additional posts..... What was the purpose of this thread, stirring the pot?

I think you just nailed it!

  3. I know that Celebrity has Alcoves on certain ships. I've done a search on their website and it appears that the only ship with alcoves is the Silhouette. We are sailing on the Equinox in April...does this ship have alcoves available to reserve?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  4. Does anyone know about the Holiday Inn Express in Condado. I called them and they accepted my reservation for 12/27-12/28/17 but I have not heard if it is open or if anyone is staying there.

We were scheduled there for November 3 and were cancelled by the hotel on October 18. They said they are only booking rooms to FEMA and government employees.

  5. Due to our hotel canceling our “day before” reservation, we are now flying into San Juan at 2:07pm the day of embarkation for the Summit sailing on November 4, 2017. Not being sure how available cabs will be, especially with many others flying in on 11/4 as well, does it make sense to try using Celebrity’s transfer service from the airport to the port? We have not used X’s service before and are not sure how efficient they can be. Will there be a long wait to fill up a large bus, or do they use smaller vans to keep things moving?

Thanks in advance for your input.

  6. I just made my weekly call to the Holiday Inn Express Condado San Juan to reconfirm our hotel reservation for Friday, November 3 and was told they were no longer going to honor it because all rooms have been reserved for government employees. I told them I was disappointed that they hadn’t proactively contacted me, but it’s better to find out now versus showing up on November 3 to hear my reservation was now null and void.

Thankfully when I contacted American Airlines, there were still seats available for the November 4 flight into San Juan that arrives at 2:07pm. I don’t like flying into a cruise port on the day of embarkation, but in this case there aren’t any other options. Glad I stayed on top of the hotel reservation. This could happen to anyone, given the situation in PR.

  8. We are scheduled for the 10/28/2017 sailing on the summit. We received a call from Celebrity saying we are still good to go and we will are now going to St. Thomas. Have they lost their minds? How in the world can they say that. Hotels are not open. The airport is not open. How will we get a ride to the ship? This is crazy.

This IS crazy and it’s a reflection of Celebrity’s greed and disregard for the safety of it’s customers. We’re scheduled for the 11/4/17 Summit sailing and I can’t believe they’re going ahead using the port of San Juan. This is very irresponsible and we are not happy!

  9. On line check in might take me the 88 days until my cruise to complete. It keeps telling me that it is locked for 20 minutes.

    Wow........award winning website.

I just tried accessing my cruise which begins in 94 days, and received the same message saying the website is locked for 20 minutes. Very frustrating!

  10. We will be sailing on the Summit this November and hope that CC has, or will be, implementing a luggage transfer service from the port to the airport, as they've done in some other locations. Does anyone know if this service will be available in San Juan?

Thank you in advance for any information.

  11. Thank you, SailorJack, for the entertaining, informative, and humorous review. I had been skipping over your post for weeks, not knowing what I was missing. You are a gifted and witty writer. You made the end of my stressful day an absolute delight.

CC should hire you to write for them. I'm sold on moving ahead with making a reservation for the same cruise you and SailorJill enjoyed.

In the future, I'll never make the same mistake of overlooking one of your reviews. I hope you have another cruise scheduled soon!
