Or trying to lower the number of passengers that contract what can be a serious illness.

Exactly. I am missing many cruises because I have several serious comorbidities. I have canceled and pushed back. I am glad to see any restrictions, though I understand those who are more willing and able to take the risks. Maybe next year .............

  2. Only good luck is that baggage is not so critical on your way home. I have on 2 occasions had my bag deflected to wrong city. They got it to me within a couple days, bringing directly to my home [hour form airport. Hopefully, you will not be separated from it, but if so, might still work out ok.

Princess is [by a certain person working there's admission] working on a shoestring budget, with VERY few service people. Things are getting lost in the cracks. It may well hurt their long term bottom line; but no money = no money. I too have had my nightmares there, but I hope they can ride out the plague times and come back strong. Actually, the reason we are Elite with PCL has been service, which was  truly great till Covid.

This is true with most of the travel industry now. Best, if you need to travel, you take it all phlegmatically and enjoy all you can. Good luck.

Just checked Diamond Japan.  Only voyage showing was San Diego to Japan.  Could not even get in to "manage" my booking for the first cruise out of Japan in March.  Shows booking.  Click and it takes you to some random page.

Went to another booking and it just froze.  Guess they are having "issues" again.  Sure wish Princes would get their act together.

Which of the two people answering the phones will be able to stop to help you? Or did you imagine there might be three?

    Exactly, 100%......

If risks are great due to your health.......DON'T CRUISE!    Simple Simon

I know! I know! After nearly 2.5 years hiding I am getting stir crazy. Cruise after cruise I have canceled, with still 4 left to hope for. FCC is 'bye bye', over and over.

I just need something to hope for. I am housebound by fear. And my Doctor says my fears are justified. Having been a nerd [geek, whatever] all my life I am really quite good at reading, online, streaming, cooking and of course gaming of various sorts. But 27 months is difficult.

Next week I am going to Smoky Mountains and a drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway. At least I can pretty safely do outside in the mountains, huh?

Still, if I was sure I would get high quality treatment onboard, I might risk it.

    *sigh*

    Thanks for the comments;

Here is additional information released by Pfizer about a clinical trial testing the development of disease after exposure to Covid. It was found there was not significant difference between the use of Paxlovid and a placebo.

The article also goes over again the limited indication of use of the drug under its EUA.

Paxlovid will not be available on cruise ships any time in the near future.

    https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-shares-top-line-results-phase-23-epic-pep-study

Seriously? Did you read the entire study? This is contra publication. They show the weakest result. Many other studies were done with better results. This is aimed at academics and medical professionals.

I know of an actual use of Paxlovid. She was 73, with a couple comorbidities. Doc gave her the antiviral. Next day she began to feel better. Second day she lost all symptoms. Left quarantine 3 days later; ..... negative.

Maybe that would have happened anyway? But I want access to Paxlovid at first symptoms. I am also in 70's with 3 serious comorbidities. Still not released by my doctor to sail. If med center on board had Paxlovid, I could risk sailing.

I read that at the airport they have testing site !!!

Yes they do; rated 2.6/5 on the website, with many complaints about many hours delays. If you have a flight that day, consider carefully.

We had intended to fly from Vancouver, but now we are exploring options for bussing to Seattle, and changing out flight plans.

I may be wrong but I believe you can also enter the US from Canada via Bus or Rail. Neither of those is "by yourself" and they don't require testing. Only flights require the test.

I have to agree, they should require testing too.

That is our concern as well. Princess "should" provide testing but, if they don't we could end up in Canada without the test required to fly home. They should either provide the test or not. The wishy washy language "subject to availability" is disturbing. If we decide to take the Optum tests onboard "just in case" it has a cost of $100 for the tests. (Due to reports of dud tests we would need to get the 3 pack for the two of us in order to be safe.) I haven't decided yet whether to trust Princess or to spend the $100 and possibly not need the stupid tests. I am sooooooooooooo over this. As a US citizen who is double vaccinated and double boostered I don't see why I need to be tested in order to fly home - especially as there are zero test requirements to enter the country by car.

Huh? Reason: You can drive alone in contained vehicle. When you fly, others are all around you. How is this difficult to understand?

  9. I absolutely love French onion soup. Blue is the correct cheese for me too. CG makes a very good version. But FAR the best version I have ever tasted was in a sports bar in Quebec. It so captured me that I begged for the recipe. Cannot find it right now [been many years ago], but I know there was Grey Goose among the ingredients. I love onions in all their variations!

  10. I really loved the 'Share' menus, about 8 small serving of quite unique dishes. We always chose different things, then shared the Share entrees. Others, I guess, were not impressed, because they did not renew it. I love trying new things. The 'mushroom' main dish referred to earlier would certainly have been my choice, even though I ask for mushrooms every breakfast. I am a hobbit by appetite.

On another cruise line, I got a shellfish main that was way overcooked, like rubber. When I asked for a different choice, they insisted in charging me for it. Never again there. I am not really all that picky, but edible is expected.
