I rarely disagree with Pam on anything, but I must on this one.
I am an old suthin boy, and I loved The Bayou on Coral Princess. Everything
we had was great, the service was exquisite, and they had my old boyhood favorite, fried green tomatoes! They were fresh, slightly tangy, and I got them on butter toast with a slice of nice onion on the side. Then I ordered them again, and again, and again. Never had desert, so cannot speak to that, but everything we had was great. Oddly though, I remember few specifics except for the FGT's. :o
Will try Crown, where I have yet to be, on the Crown in March.

Normally don't get a full suite, but couldn't resist the $100% fare back,

Sorry, not trying to thread jack. I have head the '100% fare back' mentioned several times but do not know what it is? Is it on the Princess website?

The only drink package ever for me was a 'freebie' when we did Black Sea with all three perks, including drink package, on Celebrity. I drank a very occasional alcoholic beverage, but lots of hot chocolate, specialty coffees, and 'mocktails'. It was nice, but I certainly did not have to worry about making it worth the price. Was freebie. I would never actually pay that absurd price. But for those who want it, I think it is great that Princess makes the offer. After all, it is a choice. The more of those, the better.

I did not say I liked the eucalyptus shampoo for the smell, though I do not find it offensive. I like it because it is more effective than any dandruff shampoo that I have tried. I hate being 'snowy and scaly' and this stuff is good for even two days if you require it. I cannot find any version of it in Cincinnati, so am very stingy with what I brought home. I really hope Princess does not discontinue it.

Can someone tell me if it's true that princess is dropping the eucalyptus shampoo?
I am horrified if it is true, best dandruff product I have found [and boy do I need that]. My steward actually slipped me a few when I left another cruise. I am on the Crown [bA to LA] in March, and I certainly hope I don't have to bring their own shampoo back onboard.

I have done both but will always select Anytime now. We choose large tables with lots of new folks to meet every night. So much fun!
Princess' buffet is usually very good, too. And they have always been 'Johnny of the spot' for bussing tables [unlike the horrible experience I had on the Celebrity Constellation], so a clean one is most always available.
So enjoy AT, and especially all the fun people!

I must say that while I enjoy the art, I will likely never buy it. How about some more natural art. Wet tee-shirt contest or some such? :p I swear nature is more beautiful than man can imagine.
Still, I DO look at it, and think I might miss it if it was gone. Each their own.

Coral!
We had our 1st sailing on her, and the service everywhere on the ship was absolutely beyond the pale. We recently, after cruises on several other Princess ship [all which we loved], plus HA and X, got yet another Alaska on the Coral, and it confirmed our first impressions. Got to return to Alaska on her about once a year, if we can.

The Crown Princess is leaving Fort Lauderdale for 49 days all around south america ending in Los Angeles. Starts feb 15, 2014
And it is booked solid, as it was two weeks after the offer. Later we got a 'private e-mail' offer to fill in one someone dropped, so we will do Buenos Aires to LA, 30-days in March. Call Princess if you are interested, as this is the time many may drop off.

If its the same place I passed on a boat trip to Ballestas Islands, then it is across the bay from Paracas, and surrounded by desert!
You could walk it into town, in a couple of hours, but I suspect the local taxis will be lining up for business when a ship comes in.
Have a look at it on Google earth....
Why did you pass on the boat trip? On our upcoming cruise. that trip is already sold out, so we are casting about for something interesting to do at this port.

Of course, on a full PC trip there are plenty of other times when being on your deck is a very pleasant thing, especially during the fresher Caribbean part of the cruise.

So; is there a hotel within any walking distance of the port?

Yes, we also canceled and got it credited as reduction in the balance. No problems at all. It was strange to me that they put it in the middle of our only full day in Denali. We are there by 11:30 AM the previous day, and they could have had it where it did not interfere with full-day tours that day.
Anyway, I would definitely go to a supervisor if I didn't get mine, certainly worth another call.

Funny thing about all this. I have nowsailed 6 or 8 times. I have had a total of one beer in all those sailings. I drink at home, but not very much. On my Princess ones I have twice bought a 'coffee card' and indulged in specialty coffes very occasionally, each 15-hit card lasting me 3 cruises. And beside these things, I have been fine with tea, juice at meals, milk For my cereal, and water.
So now I get this deal for the promo, and the package with it. And all I practically hear about here abouts [lol] is how to maximize this chance. I wonder if this is doing me, or anyone, any real favors. I mean, if you try to 'maximize' your use of this package, won't it actually take away from other things that most of us think are the point of cruising?
If I had wanted to WANT to [lol] have a drunken party for 12 days, I coulda signed on a 'cruise to nowhere' with Carnival of RCI, right?
I am not saying they should not have these promotions. Just nervous about how intense the interest seems to be, perhaps to the exclusion of other aspects of a great cruise.
Now for my important question: Can I get a martini with the Classic if I skip the olive? ROFL :D
Enjoy your cruises;

Couldn't you suspect that this entire Promo is Celebrity testing the waters for a move to a more upscale, drinks included, status? If people are willing to pay extra for the cabin exceeding the cost of the alcohol, wouldn't be surprised to see it become built into the cruises automatically, with concommitant cabin cost rise. Just a thought.

A few things about 1,2,3:
The obvious price difference for those cruises taking it to those cruises not qualified ..... the cost of a certain Northern Europe cruise read like this. I: $1199, O:$2299, B:2699, S: 3499. Note the huge difference between unqualified inside and qualified outside. Just previous to the promo: I: $1299, O: $1499, B: $1899, s:$2699. I have e-mails still in my list for both. They obviously are simply making up for the promo by raising prices on qualified rooms.
But! I was one of the lucky ones :) who got in the 1st few days. My Black Sea outside [on an internet TA] was $1349 with ALL three options. Nice! It is now $2399 with 2 options on Celebrity. *dance*
When I was on the Caribbean Princess TransAtlantic, I visited the onboard sales rep. I asked about prices for Australia/NZ. Then I asked why Aussies did not get a similar price. She said simply "supply and demand". She said Aussies WILL pay more, and therefor cruise lines WILL charge more. The markets have been tested extensively. The only way for Aussies to get more reasonable prices is for them to refuse the higher ones. I did not ask but assume the same is true for Brits. Sorry about that. Maybe an organized boycott, though I have no idea how to organize it ......

Just saw an ad on the online TA I am using that THEY now offer the promotion to and third party in the same room! Look around and you will find this new promotion if you are interested.
-
We just booked the Black Sea through a national cruise TA [cant say which] and we got all 3 specials + approx 25% off of Celebrity prices. Fantastic deal IMHO. Watch the ads.

Cannot Holland themselve simple post their 'Formal' policy here with a 'sticker' to keep it, so we would not have thousands of threads about this stuff? Gets old.
Doug

Cannot help but visualize 'staggered boarding'. Everyone in line at noon. Princess provides lots of cheap wine while you wait. All 'stagger' on by 4:00.
That works!

I just wish their Voyage of the Glaciers ended in Seward. So much more to do there, including the unbelievable small boat cruise in Kenai. Why DO they go to Whittier instead?
Doug

Hey, I just became to 100th voter. Don't I get a prize? Say, a cruise in one of those OBV room? :p
Doug

Exactly. I want to know WHERE the door to that deck is. We are on the last group to board so I will have little time for searching. Do you or anyone else know where the entrance is?
Doug

Where is this door on the Diamond?

Help~ change dinning time
in Princess Cruises

I would drop any TA who did this. Outright lying to you to get money. There is NEVER a fee to change dining times. If it is full, you will be told so, and likely wait listed. But not charged. Drop your TA! JMHO
