  1. I've been watching Carnival Panorama out of Long Beach. When this thread was started, ALL November cruises were removed from the website, and the first sailing out of Long Beach was mid December. I want to say the 19th, or somewhere around there.

Interestingly, November 14th has been put BACK. But then nothing else for the month of November. Weird.
Probably the rest are max capacity

  3. With it being a Tue-Tue, it’s really pointless for Carnival to even bother offering the itinerary. Carnival’s premium brands also provide a more authentic experience.

If I were in a position to retire ships, I’d eliminate this itinerary entirely.
Yes not the best itinerary on the freedom, the Miracle 10 day out if SF is better imo. And yes princess does a great job up there and has glacier bay.

  4. Wasn't too keen on the Miracle. Was on her a few years back and she shook a lot of times. Was told the Azpods or whatever they were called was the reason. Dinner the first night, she was shaking so badly that silverware and plates were falling off tables.
Yeah noticed that as well 5 years ago went on her 2 years ago and wasn't an issue.

  5. If more cuts are necessary, it may come down to which drydock can be avoided.

Carnival Spirit is scheduled for May 29-June 12, 2021.

Carnival Pride doesn't have one scheduled yet, but should have one no later than February 2022.

Carnival Legend does not have one scheduled, but is due by May 2021.

Carnival Miracle is good until 2022 or 2023. Her most recent drydock is in 2020.

Legend may be vulnerable due to the 2021 drydock, but it comes down to where Carnival wants to pare back service. The most likely cut would be in San Diego, with Miracle or Pride splitting time between the Caribbean and Alaska.

This has to be weighed against the rest of the fleet as well. Paradise is the only Fantasy-class ship due in 2021 for a drydock, and technically she is due before Legend.

Even without COVID-19, the 2020s was going to be a busy decade for ship retirements. There are just too many ships pushing 30.
You cut san diego, you also cut the highly profitable Alaska cruises out of SF, well they will be once we get going lol

  6. I was very pessimistic about cruising since the beginning of this crisis especially the future of the Fantasy class ships (that I enjoy). As things started to reopen I thought the Fantasy class might have a little hope since I though people would want to sail on smaller ships but it does not look like that will happen. I am afraid in a few years we will have the Royal Carnival lines with a substantially reduced fleet.
Keeping the bigger ships makes more sense now especially you can sail with 2k on a 4k max ship and make enough profit to make it, especially with Balconies vs 1k and no Balconies

  7. I was so excited to read John's posts this morning. The DD and I prefered the Inspiration to the Imagination for our 4-day getaway but now yippee we can have a balcony cabin! We are both looking forward to this short getaway time and we are going to have the DGD join us. We have the Panorama booked with the DGD next year. Thanks Carnival for adding a balcony cabin to the Long Beach 3 and 4 day.

These will be much more profitable now that they can offer balconies.

  8. Taking the grand in a month to Alaska, nice i can uber to the port and not have to get in a day ahead. I have mainly been a carinval cruiser and my Dog is named after the Miracle, so it will be intersting to compare to. I have also been on Disney and i hated it, was bored to death and Holland America when i was 20, 20 years ago. Was the youngest on the ship lol, but i had a blast... will be interesting to see what princess is all about. Going with my uncle and cousins family about 25 of us!

  9. Disney is such a sub par experience, maybe i expected too much for tripple the price of the cruise line i usually take, but the food was mediocre, service same and the ship really boring at night... no thanks

  10. On the Splendor last Monday we had very rough seas i almost fell out of my bed a few times. We pulled in and then right back out of grand Cayman and i wasn't surprised too dangerous. Then in Belieze as we were getting back on, a rope snapped on the tender and almost took out a passenger... very lucky they weren't hurt. Sometimes sh!t happens.... as to a bad honeymoon ddbraxt, my ex wife and i accidentally walked past a drug deal in Seattle... i literally got yelled at for 5 hours for that one... that wasn't even my fault. Luckily she is now my ex... i would have been extatic to have just missed a few ports.... nbd... relax and enjoy life!
