1. If it was noon i think i would have kept the reservation as is. But, i was paranoid after thinking about it last night and even though it costs me 200 bucks to change, having that peace of mind is worth it. Also got a good rate at Century Plaza. So i guess i will have to relax that night. i am glad i asked instead of rolling with it. My luck SFO would have been fogged in!

  2. Wave noise... lol... i was hung over severely my second sea day on the breeze, and i decided to stay in my cabin. i was in a 4j at the very front of the ship, deck 7. I have to say, hearing the waves hitting the ship and shaking the room every 45 seconds all day long didn't help my headache go away. Overall though i have been midship twice and forward the rest of the time, and I preferred the forward both times.

  3. You are talking a huge size difference between ships. My spouse wanted to go on Allure or Oasis until I told him how many people they each held. Our last cruise was on the Wonder and we thought that size was perfect. He talked about all the things to do on Allure/Oasis and I pointed out how many people would be trying to do them! And you have to make reservations for shows and such. That's a drag for a vacation to me.

We're actually headed out of CCL Breeze to give something different a try.

The Breeze is a great ship. Shows aren't amazing but everything else is top notch. Get the chefs table and be wowed by some amazing food. I finally am trying DCL this fall with my cousin going to Cabo and Ensenada. Too bad it wasn't a 7 day, but oh well i can add in a 3 day Carnival for a party for 3 days. As to Private islands, Half Moon Cay is pretty amazing as well.

  4. I wanted to correct myself on the exhaust being an issue on the train back. That is only the case with the steam engine trains that are offered on different tours.

That makes sense, but if there is a good fireman, it shouldn't have much smoke going down hill

  5. It is my favorite class. So much less crowded.

The week long LA crowd is much less of a party crowd than sailing out of east coast ports. Not sure if it is just more families. I was with my kids, but in the evenings they were off at 02 and I was essentially solo. I didn't really make friends on board until the last couple days.

Wierd, my week long crowd out of LA was much more a party than either of my east coast ones. I guess it is luck of the draw.

  6. I think that is interesting. As Main Dining Room is a shared table experience with strangers, the fact that upper echelon food items are now available for up charge only MAY lead to exactly the opposite of what you are saying. Clearly sitting at a table with strangers for a week but not being able to afford up charged meals while they do will be uncomfortable. See the point?

I think there is a difference between a 20 dollar steak and a haven suite. Now with the Havana Cabins you might have a point. I bet they offer a pass to the Havana as well like the Spa Pass.

  7. Now I'm a socialist because I value my money? No, I'm just not foolish with it.

So how do you figure that the cruise lines are GIVING you anything? Of course they're not--you are paying for it

As for corporate America "giving us so much". Yeah right. Let's outsource a large number of manufacturing jobs to Mexico and China, to save money, provide inferior products, and maximize profits. All so that we can have cheap products. Here's a better idea--lets actually keep Americans employed by accepting maybe lower, but still acceptable profit margins, instead of the good old American way--make the money and to hell with whoever gets hurt in the process.

Do you have a 401k or investment? if you do and you want a return, you better hope those high priced CEO's try to maximize profit.

  8.
I am not going to elaborate and start the same debate all over again. I've had the same discussion before on the Carnival boards and at the RCI boards. On the RCI boards people understood my point, and combined with recent price increases and continued cost savings measures, they understood what I meant. Anytime this same issue comes up on Carnival, people "just don't get it." So, I'm not going there. The general consensus on the Carnival boards is always the same---"don't buy it, use another cruise line, or who cares, it's only money." As said by another poster--the wool has been pulled down further. Guess it depends on who wants to be the sheep and who wants to be the wolf.
I guess we are all two stupid on Carnival to understand basic economics according to you. Btw, things change. I never got room service before because they didn't have what i liked. Now they have 4 or 5 items i will buy, adding maybe 20 to 30 bucks to my bill for the whole cruise. No big Deal.
