  1. He's 18.

He's a man responsible for his own decisions and own fashion statements.

Don't worry about it and please don't pack for him.

Unless, of course, you paid for the cruise,,, then it would only be right, courteous, and respectful for him to act and dress according to how you want.

    18 in July

This cruise is his HS graduation gift

Not packing for him but was reminding him of what to pack when he told me he hated the feel of swim trunks and was not taking any!

    Not something to debate about

But was wondering if he would have issues on the ship pools and hot tubs

    Thanks for feedback

  2. Is it ok to wear basketball shorts with underwear instead of swim trunks?

My soon to be 18 year old has hated the feel of the material of swim trunks for years but I have made him wear them when on vacation or public pools.

Now for our upcoming cruise he is like no way no more I hate swim trunks!!!

Not going to make a big deal of it, but would he be allowed in the pools and hot tubs on the ship?

  3. We have a party of 8

    Mom and sons

We have 1 mom and 3 sons who want to get in the water with the sting rays and the 3 moms 1 son who are not interested.

What excursion should we plan or should we just separate up while in Grand Cayman?

The ones not wanting to get into water with sting rays or snorkel would be happy to just watch,,,but don't want to "pay" if that is the only way to be there and watch.

  4. I missed it. It was a 48 hours sale and I tried to call yesterday and was on hold forever...planned to call back and did not. Went to call today and sale was over.

I did save money today buying AARP gift card.

I will continue watching daily for more price drops.

  5. AARP still has the $500 gift cards available.

I just purchased another one today. Got the ecard in like 5 min or less and applied it to my cruise balance.

Saved total this week of $100

My final balance is due 3/27/18. I plan to buy another $500 next month and 4-$100 to save hopefully another $90 or more.

I figure if something happened and I had to cancel this cruise I would just have another reason to book another cruise later on in order to use the gift cards I would be refunded in.

  6. Hello,

    I can get $50 OBC

Pay $48 more on my deposit (increase in deposit)

    Cost of cruise increase $20

So really coming out ahead with $30 (50 OBC - $20 increase)

Before I submit the price drop request is there something else I need to consider? This seems like an deal but I don't want to not "think about something" so asking here for feedback.

  7. I signed up today. Took a few surveys.

Thought about what if I cancel and have to get refund in Carnival gift cards,,(may not take another cruise for 4 years after this one)

Decided to think positive and not worry about IF I cancel, as of this point I have no reason to even think I would need to cancel.

So I brought 1 $500 ecard, and got it right away in my email and applied it to my carnival balance.

Nice quick easy save of $50

I plan to try to purchase at least another or 2 $500 ecards next month. In time for final payment.

Thanks everyone for posting this information about the AARP gift cards. I need/want to save as much as I can.

  8. I went to carnival website and FAQ's. I have answered my own question:)

If you use your Carnival Gift Card and then later cancel, any refund due back will be sent in the form of a new Carnival Gift Card. It will be mailed to the address on the booking profile and take 5-10 business days. If the booking was made through a travel agency, we will need to obtain your address in order to mail out a new Carnival Gift Card

If I use vacation protection and cancel for any reason...I would get 75% cruise voucher. If a covered reason I would get 100% in cash. I'm not sure about buying the vacation protection this cruise.

I want to save money using the AARP gift cards. I want to pay close to final payment. But don't think if I can wait to purchase AARP gift cards. Not sure how often they are available? I see online now has the $100 available.

I try to take a cruise every 2 years, but our next one may be until 2022. Got a kid going to college, and I probably will not spend money on cruise vacations until my kid graduates college. So I would not want to be "stuck" with a carnival gift card. If for some reason I had to cancel I would want my money back...

I need to make a decisions on this.

  9. Ok, thanks for your reply.

I do have a great rewards card that I use often.

I was thinking of the carnival one just for the benefits when using it to pay for your cruise and the discount on excursions etc...

I would also use it on outside purchases to build up rewards to use for our next cruise.

I was thinking to use it to pay balance on 2 cabins in March..

Bonus 10k points now would result in $100

  10. Hello fellow cruisers.

I'm trying to decide if it would be worth it to get the carnival world mastercard...

I have a cruise balance to pay, and will be making some purchases on the cruise as well as at least one excursion.

I usually try to cruise every other year, but may not plan another cruise after this for maybe 4 years (sending son off to college this year).

I see they have a bonus of $100 and I was thinking I could pay my cruise balance with the card and all cruise purchases and other things....

My thought was to get it and see how much I can earn and use the rewards points to help off set my cruise balance.

My cruise balance is due 3/27/18 so not sure if its worth it for what I'm trying to do which is get as much rewards money to offset the cruise cost?

I could then of course use it and stack up rewards points to use for our next cruise....a College Graduation cruise 2022.

  11. I had it on my last cruise. I think I got my monies worth. It was fun to try drinks I normally would not.

I love getting the Gatorades to take off the ship. I did get a milkshake just because I could. Bottle waters were great to have throughout the day helped with heat and the drinking.

I love not worrying about how much the drink would cost me, how much my bill would be at the end.

I tried it, not sure if I would get it again...depends on if I'm cruising with just adults.

If you are a heavy drinker and or can really hold your liquor then I say purchase it for sure!!!

  12. Let me get this straight...you want to help you underage child get into a club?

    Um...ok.

That is what I was saying, he would be days away from 18.

NOT saying I want him to drink alcohol. At this time he has no interest in drinking alcohol and he knows I would not allow that.

But I can see where some may have an issue with this...being 2 weeks away from 18, I'm ok with it. Which is why I ask

I would remain in the club, not right next to him but he would be in my view the entire time.

  13. Another friend just got back from a cruise and said their 21 yr old was able to walk their 17 year old into the club, then the next couple of days 17 yr old walked in without having ID checked at all and without the 21yr old brother. 17yr old was bored in the club anyway...but just wanted to say he was there.

Not really a big deal, I know my son is not going to want to hang out in the club anyway not with the other "old" folks that are in there as well.

Last year he also was not too interested in hanging in the Club 02 either.

I agree this age mostly makes friends and hangs out around the ship, the pool, the basketball courts etc.

    Just was wondering....

  14. I was thinking OMG they only have these many cabins left?

I called my friend in a rush,,,, then called customer service and BAM, lots of cabins available!!!

Either way we got the rooms we really wanted, price is OK, if we get no price drops we are ok with the price paid. BUT of course hoping for price drops:)

Good to know for my other friends who have yet to book, no a major rush now to get them booked, they can check and book when they are ready.

  15. Just curious

How do you know when the cruise cabins are filling up? How do you know which cabins are left? So when I searched on carnival.com for connecting cabins it did not show any available, so I called customer service to book and they were able to offer a lot more cabins that were not showing on the website?

I was able to get 2 connecting cabins booked. We have more friends interested in going and other than calling is there a way to see all the available cabins when on the website?

    Thanks

  16. We booked 1/18/17 for Vista 6 days 6/10/18 Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel

6m Deluxe Ocean View with a connecting cabin. Not sure if I got a good deal or not, I know summer time is lil more expensive. Hoping for price drops but if not, ok with this price.

    2 in a room total= $2,108.50

    CRUISE CHARGES

    Cruise Rate $1,868.00

Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses $240.50

    Total Cruise Charges $2,108.50

    TOTAL CHARGES $2,108.50

    On Board Credit (USD) $50.00

  17. My son will be almost 18 on our next cruise. His friends will already be 18.

He is wondering if he would be able to get into the night club IF I escort him in.

I seriously doubt he would enjoy it anyway since the crowd can be a lot older, but he is worried about being stuck in Club 02 if his friends are in the adult club.

Does anyone know if as his parent I can take him into the night club, I would stay in there as well.

    Has anyone else done this?

Do you think it will be an issue?
