Has anyone been to West bay Beach recently? How was it? What is the taxi fare from Mahogany Bay/ how long is the ride?
Hi. We were just at West Bay beach about a week and 1/2 ago. It was beautiful!! Our tour driver took us to Grand Roatan Beach Club / Condo since there is no fee. We got a table (with shade) at their beach restaurant/bar and ordered a couple drinks & appetizers. It's all the way down at the end of the beach where there is a rock cliff that you can swim by and snorkel.
** Not sure of price of a cab. The ride was about 35 minutes back to port. I would look at Rony's Tours - that's the one we did. Great service!! (or Bodden Tours) for prices on just the transportation to & from West Bay beach.

When does the last tender leave at the end of the day? If we are "in port" until 6:00, what time should our absolute deadline be for getting on a tender back to ship? We arrive too late for most of the morning trips to Stingray City but I am nervous about taking an afternoon trip and getting back in time to tender.

The last tender usually leaves the port about 30 - 45 minutes before your ship's departure time. It should specify "last tender time" on your Daily News Sheet delivered to your room the night before. ** Also: Make sure you stay on ship time!! If your cruise originally departs from somewhere in the Central Time Zone (TX, LA), then "in port" until 6pm is really 7pm in Grand Cayman, since they are on Eastern Time Zone. If your cruise departs from FL, then you're good - it's all Eastern Time Zone. ( I always just keep my watch set to ship time. Sometimes smart phones will change times with your location even if in Airplane Mode ) Just communicate with your tour people - they'll want to make sure to get you back on time.

Does anyone have recommendations for private tours? Thanks
Hi. We just did a private tour for 5 adults with Rony's Tours a week ago. Great service!! Good communication before and after your vacation. You can design your own tour for the day. I highly recommend Rony's.

Has anyone used www.shoreexcursioneer.com for tours in Roatan or Cozumel?

Hi. I used shore excursioineer in Cozumel just 2 weeks ago for the Papitos Beach & snorkel tour. It was a great deal since it includes round trip transportation - your driver stays with you to bring you back later. The beach was beautiful - we had it all to ourselves (maybe 15 other people around noon) -plenty of shade and you can use the beach loungers or hammocks. Snorkel gear is included. You can just go snorkel by yourself, no need to follow a guide or group. We saw a stingray, puffer fish, brain coral, really big parrot fish & angel-looking fish. Later, we climbed up the Lighthouse (included in tour price). Great tour.
*Plus, I used them in Nov. for a Belize excursion that got cancelled due to bad weather. They refunded my money immediately after I got home and emailed them. No questions or run-around. Good service.

Daniel Johnson's Monkey and sloth habitat
in Roatan
Posted
We just went last week with Rony's Tours. I emailed him ahead of time to make sure it was Daniel's sanctuary that we would be going to. Good communication before, during, and after our vacation! GREAT tour! Highly recommended! The sloth is awesome!! Capuchin monkeys are a hoot!
*We did the freestyle tour for our day in port. Only $25.pp plus $10.pp entrance to get into Daniel's animal place. Spent the rest of tour on West Bay beach, did some local shopping, and toured Rony's neighborhood to give the children some school supplies and toys. Wonderful day all around!!
