  1. We now reached Marsaxlokk a fishing village. A market was on and we had 20 minutes spare time.
  2. I was off now on an Island Panorama tour. Rojaan though was really bad with her back pain.
  3. Thursday we are in Malta though on this occasion docked at a commercial wharf across the harbour from the Cruise terminal. A P&O ship the Azura was at the passenger terminal with a Ponant ship Le Bougainville behind it. We were just across from the main dry dock.
  4. The food. I had the scallop from the night's menu then the lobster salad as an intermediate dish. Rojaan had the wild mushroom salad and the lobster salad as her main but did ask for the starter size. Even so she was given some extra lobster. I had the Chilean seabass as a main. Really good. Rojaan then had the pavlova whilst I just had some gelati.
  5. Dinner again in Atlantide. And the Non Changing page. Occasionally though an extra dish will make it's appearance here. The wines. The white. And the red.
  6. So another sea day en route to Valetta. Taking it easy though I did 2 my 24 laps of eck 11. Lunch again in Atlantide. Our experience is the menu at lunch changes every day. As well we have noticed people at lunch having dishes from the evening menu such as caviar and lobster. So to the day's menu. We both started with the Chicken wings. Naturally for Rojaan it was without the chilli. She als said she wanted just that and desert. See if you can notice the difference in the 2 plates of chicken wings. Hers. Mine I also had the vegetable Quesadilla which was excellent. We both had the pear and blackberry crumble. A little disappointing as we would have preferred more crumble. The sea day was also the day for the Venetian Society Cocktail party and a formal night. We thought we should attend. As usual the introduction had the pianist this time from Latvia. The first on this cruise was from the Ukraine. A well the classical soprano from Spain. And a couble of obnoxious Assies receiving an award.
  7. Atlantide for dinner. I had the scallop with strawberry and then the duck Caesar salad. Rojaan had the prawn roll. And then just the day's dessert. dessert. Whilst for mains it was once again the fillet. Herme gave us something to remember him.
  8. Ferry and plane watching for the afternoon. This is the ADA Theodora which arrives and departs 3 to 4 times a day. As I said before it is at full steam coming into port and does a sharp 90 degree turn causing quite a list and then a sudden 180 degree turn before backing in. On leaving it is starting to leave before the anchor has been fully raised and not long after it is at full speed.
  9. There was a walk around the old town as the end of the tour but I decided to go back to the ship. Just as I got to the shuttle it took off so another walk back to the ship. Back on board and a 4th large ship -the MSC Splendida. There are 2 other smaller cruise ships elsewhere around Corfu we were told. The ferry to the small island close to Corfu. Both the Empress of the seas and the Norwegin Gem have sounded their horn 3 times and have both dropped a couple of their mooring lines. But people are just dawdling back along the pier. Just as I had taken that shot a propjet went virtually straight over my head. The Empress left first then the Gem backed out.
  10. A visit to a kumquat distillery is next. Even a kumquat gin.
  11. A short walk outside. The rain thankfully has stopped.
  12. The problem with SS excursions is that they are very dependent upon the guide you get. We were in Zadar 2 weeks ago and had a fantastic guide so everyone thought it an excellent tour. The other 4 groups on the same tour were not impressed. The beauty of an independent tour is that you can research and find a good guide. On a few occasions I just headed into the city and did my own thing. I do not have to waste time with things I don’t enjoy.
