  1. Once again it is to Atlantide for dinner. As you may have guessed it is by far our favourite restauant. When we leave the ship we will have had 42 out of 54 dinners here. Why you may ask? The food has been of consistently very good quality. The service led by Maitre'D Paula is excellent. We have not got bored with the food as there is always a page that changes every day and the dishes by and large are different to the regular menu. but even the first two pages of the regular menu undergo slight change every 3-4 days. So here was the nights menu plus the first 2 pages of the regular menu. And a couple of new wines presumably loaded in Venice.
  2. Interesting home made bread in the centre of the photo. The old railway station now a car park. Close to the ship and it turns out Rojaan didn't beat me by much as she went straight out on the balcony when she got back to our suite.
  3. Over the road from the church. Rojaan now headed off to the Moon whilst I walked back. First a closer look at the market and there was fruit, veggies and shops along on street selling various foodstuffs.
  4. A large market but most was junk. A church was open. Obviously a service had finished just before I went in as after I took a few pictures and was walking to the exit the lights went out.
  5. Walking behind Diocletian's Palace we came across another vintage car rally display.
  6. A large gathering of people in the Sqare with lots of booths. Maybe ajobs market as most were young.
  7. We walked past Diocletian's Palace having toured there 7 months ago. An MSC ship now next to the Moon. We began walking through the Old Town. Spoilt by a large new shop on it's edge.
  8. Saturday and as we entered Split a ferry was headed straight for us. It swerved to go behind us. The ferries seem to always enter the ports at full speed. Quite a few of them in Split. The views from the Moon. We both then walked into town. An derelict building close to the Moon but people obviously living there. Snapdragons growing on the street.
  9. Atlantide daily menu. My red wine. A fine red from Rioja courtesy of OBC. For starters Rojaan had the crab and watermelon and I the red prawns. I then had the tomato soup with meatballs. Rojaan had 2 entrees the second being the beef tartare with caviar. I had the fillet steak again. Rojaan again had the mango trilogy for dessert.
  10. Back to the ship and we shared a pizza for lunch. Some photos from the ship now the weather had improved. Italy in the distance. But the clouds start rolling in again.
  11. Back to the pier but I walked a little around Piran before getting on a tender.
  12. The airport terminal. A little stream that flows into the Bay of Piran. And we pass the Secovlje salt fields. And then the resort area of Porta Rosa. They do have a Kempinski hotel.
  13. Back in the bus for the return to Piran. A casino very near the border. The border crossing. And we pass their airport. Small planes only.
  14. However the Farmer's Market turned out to be a group of villagers who had set up stalls where you could taste their produce. You got 5 coupons one for each taste. You could buy 6 more for 5 euros which I did. First pasta with local truffles. The local one man band. Salami and cheese on bread and a sweet pastry.. Spinach pie, white and red wines and olives. Ham and cheese plus wine. Apple strudel in the middle and a selection of wines. I tried the red and the muscat. The pasta cooking and a cake with chocolate icing. Could also buy truffle paste. I tried 3 red wines, the muskat and grappa. The wines were all produced in small batches by families and were surprisingly good.
  15. I hope you meant Sunday. On Saturday the Moon is anchored off Sorrento. We get off in Cittavechia on Sunday and then head to the airport.
  16. Lovely views over the valley to the Croatian border.
  17. Then we parked outside the village we were going to. Road lined with fruit trees.
