  1. Your list is similar to my packing strategy. I only pack gray, black, purple, pink & orange when we travel. I wear 1 pair of jeans & boots on the plane. I pack flat sandals for formal night as well as a pair of walking shoes. Since we are coming from the US South to normally some place much cooler, we pack our coats in a checked bag. Instant space for souvenirs.

All 4 members of the family packed for 10 days in Turkey (with no laundry) in just carry-ons. It can be done & makes packing so much easier!

  2. I wasn't suggesting candy as the only tip. Only in addition to cash or a calling card. I'll just go with cash & tell them I was going to bring candy but someone on message board said that was insulting or they might be diabetic so I didn't.

I'm a teacher. I occasionally get a gift that misses the mark. But insulting? Never. I'd never consider a gift, even if it was something I couldn't use, insulting.

I have to wonder how some people react when given a gift that misses the mark. I hope better than they react here.

  3. Haven't read all 99 pages so sorry if there are repeats:

-Only pack within a certain color scheme. I only pack pink, purple, orange, gray & black. They work well with each other & allows me to pack less.

-AFA shoes, I wear boots onto the plane, pack 2 pairs of comfortable walking shoes & a pair of strappy sandals for the dining room. Never had a problem.

-I have a little bag from Travelsmith that I love. It's a small purse with a fold over flap, lots of zippered pockets and the strap has a metal cord so if purse thieves try to cut & run they can't. I've carried it a lot & it's still going strong.
