  1. I expect flames and sheer nastiness from dress code devotees ... but the times they are a changing'! (Dang, now I sound like my niece, the hippy ;) )

Nope! No bitchy or nastiness from me, a matter of fact I really don't care what you or other people wear. For me it's all about the company's guideline; dress code has a meaning.

We have been on four world cruises with CUNARD, we dressed accordingly to CUNARD's guideline.

Next year we will be on Insignia's Oceania for six months, there is no formal and that's fine with us. In my mind, dresses code does not make a difference.

    Have a nice evening

  2. Cunard charges 175% for solos except in the Grills (suites).

Holland America charges 150-165% solo for inside and oceanview cabins.

If you are happy traveling by yourself, wait a year or two, save your money and go solo. I did a world cruise solo last year and it was really nice having the cabin all to myself. I'm not sure I would have liked anybody I know as much if I had to spend 100+ days with them in a small cabin.

On our 2012 world cruise on the Queen Elizabeth. Two ladies who were our table mates, they were sharing a room. Into the cruise they found out they can't stand each other, one lady went home early. So yes, sometime it's best to have your own cabin.

How are you Scrapnana? Where to next?

    Hugs

  3. Seems like the most plausible explanation since HAL said the charges were declined by the CC company. OP said it is now a "he said, she said". Unfortunately, it is not since HAL has records and she/he does not. I'm still befuddled that the OP has no records whatsoever. My DH still goes by the old, "keep records for seven years".;):)

LOL...and Ken still has his statements from Montgomery Ward [emoji1].

  4. We are looking to take a world cruise with our three kids. I like the itinerary better on Oceania, but I like the QM2 ship better. I am concerned that I will be bored on the Oceania. Help! Which one would you pick? I have traveled on the QV, but never on O. The QV was absolutely beautiful and I really enjoyed all of the entertainment. I'm concerned that the Oceania will be a let down after Cunard, but that being said I like that I can get a Vista Suite adjoining with an ocean view room on Oceania. On Cunard I would have to make sure we were all in the same category, so we could eat together. This will be a trip we remember the rest of our lives. I want it to be amazing.

We did two world cruises on Queen Victoria, one on Queen Elizabeth and one on Queen Mary 2. Mater of fact we got married on the Queen Mary. We love all of Cunard ships. Cunard ships are bigger and they do have more activity. For the ship I would choose Queen Mary.

We have not travel on Oceania, but we will be going on a 180 days world cruise next year on Insignia. The ship is much smaller and from what I read there is not much going on the ship, however the itinerary is fantastic. I don't think you will be bored.

    Happy cruising [emoji1]

  5. You do not say where in the USA you live.

If you live in or near a city with an Indian agency that can issue a visa, the easiest thing is to fill out the forms you can get online, make an appointment at the agency, and go yourself to drop off the application, your passport and the fees and return again to pick up the passport.

Otherwise, use a visa service that you mail the application, passport and fees to. Of course doing this will cost you more $$$.

  6. Hello ladies,

Hope everyone is doing well. I used to love the fall and winter weather, I'm changing my mind; I don't like it [emoji16].

I paid Holland America $600.00 for unlimited pictures. I finally have time to upload the pictures, but I was so disappointed. There were only a dozen pictures in the CD and they were so awful. My husband said to call Holland America, but I decided to forget it. I'm too busy, beside I'm sure they already deleted them or throw them away. We will be on the Prinsedam again in 2017 for 67 days, we will be taking the pictures ourself [emoji1].

We were in Las Vegas last week with Iheartbda and her husband. We had a fantastic time. We ate some wonderful food and saw some awesome shows. My husband and I will be going there again in two weeks and again for Andrea Bocelli concert on December 5th.

Our luggage will be shipping on 12-23-2015 to Miami. We will be flying there on 01-02-2016 for our 180 days cruise. I'm ready to go [emoji1].

Take care ladies and have a great evening.

  7. I agree that an Australian visa is extremely east to get online.

I disagree about the visa for India. It is not easy. I know of cruisers who have skipped itineraries that have a port in India because of the complicated visa process.

We applied India visa three time before for our first three world cruises, it used to be good for only one entry. Now it is good for 10 years.

  8. Can anyone tell me the best approach for obtaining a Visa for a Cruise? I have not done it before and I see there are services and websites that go directly to the Country...any thoughts on what is the best way to go? Any help would be appreciatted. The Countries im most interesteed in are Austraila and India....thanks in advance.

This is where we applied for India and other visas for our world cruise next year.

  9. I'm sure this has been discussed among the many topics here, but I'm looking for a new brand/texture/coverage of foundation for my face. I actually like the long wearing makeup and prefer liquid over powder (the mineral makeup tends to "separate" on my face, especially in hot, humid weather). And, I like a medium to full coverage.

In the past I've used Estee Lauder Double wear, Armani lasting silk, Laura Mercier mineral and Sisley (both long wearing and regular). I'm leaning toward Armani again, but I've never found the perfect shade. I would love to hear about YOUR favorite foundation.

    Thanks!

I have used pretty much every brand that sell in the department stores. Now I'm using 3Lab BB cream. I also use all of their ImageUploadedByForums1446126274.816408.jpg.9d7ad53caa188de6bb6368fe44360be4.jpgother product for my face. Highly recommended, got my daughters hooked on it.

  10. I agree

I dislike buffets but when I do have to go I am spoiled for choice

At home it is the same old salad everyday ;)

Cannot wait for my cruise so I can have something different each day

My husband and I are the same. When come to food we are very spoiled. Iheartbda is a very good friend of mine, she know that we would not might pay a few thousand dollar for a meal.

We are happy Oceania has the best buffet. We will be on Insignia for 180 days world cruise next year.

  11. I'm usually out to lunch on these things and I had to google :D

Pretty, I like the peacock bag and the red dragon bag.

But I could never spend that kind of money on a purse. I'd spend it on a watch or some other jewellery that I could wear more often.

Nice to look at though. I never would have guessed they were that $$$. I would have assumed they were much less expensive, though perhaps the quality up close justifies the price?

A bad habit of mine. My daughters always joke, if I sale all my handbags and shoes; they each could buy a very nice BMW. We cannot take the money with us, I am enjoying life [emoji1]

  12. Hello Ladies! Where is everyone with their lovely dresses these days??

We just returned from our cruise and thought I'd share.....

    Hope you're here Marie;)

    Michelle:)

Awww... The gown and dress looks beautiful on you than on me. Thank you for posting the pictures.

We are in Las Vegas again for a friend BD. We will be back here again in two weeks with Iheartbda and her husband.

I still not upload our cruise pictures [emoji16]. I have been busy and trying to spend as much time as possible with my grandson. Our next cruise is six months long [emoji16].

    Take care

  13. Hello ladies,

No, I have not upload the pictures [emoji16]. I'm working on a new project and I must say; I'm having fun.

My husband bought me a sewing machine for my BD in July. When I was 16, I took a sewing class. We did not use the patten, we learned how to measure and then up to your imagination to creat. Unfortunately my first dress is a bit tight around my chest [emoji16]. I'm 34DD, if you are 34 B or D would be ok. It's really cute dress [emoji1].

  14. Carry cash, use the safe on the ship. And one note about cash, for some reason that I can't figure out, in many countries it has to be new bills and with NO tears. They have to be perfect. I've had them sort through and separate into acceptable and unacceptable, and the smallest hint of a tear would force them into the bad pile. You have to find a friendly bank cashier and go through the same process with her before your trip.

Vietnam is one those countries will not accept the old bill. We always notify our bank that we need new currency. We just picked these up for our up coming cruise [emoji106]ImageUploadedByForums1443130839.765971.jpg.39e3698db77262aa059a2394c216e277.jpg

  15. I miss the idea of formal nights on most cruise lines. One of the main reasons that my wife and I choose Cunard is the elegance of formal wear. We are going on Crystal on our next cruise and I will still take a tux for black tie optional night -- even on a seven night cruise. I know that comfort and casual attire is now what the majority of people seem to strive for, but I believe that there is still a place for formality in style. I just know that if more people could see how spectacular my wife looks in her formals, they would appreciate formal nights much more. I certainly do. I always tell people to just imagine a tall, slender, beautiful, graceful, elegant, platinum blonde in her formal. It just doesn't get much better than that. To top it all off, she is also an amazing dancer. It's certainly worth it to me to carry 5 extra pounds of luggage for the privilege of spending an evening with such an extraordinary woman wearing her finest.

    Jerry,

We have been on four world cruise on Cunard ships. Hope we will meet in the future on one of the Queen.

    Best regards

    Marie
