  1. We’re onboard with you 😁

Usually we have an inside cabin, or at best an ocean view, but thanks to me loitering on this forum, back in 2021, we snagged an Aft Suite at a bargain price (I saw a thread where people were pre registering for them and “accidentally” booked 😂).
Wow! How the other half live eh?
I shall enjoy your musings. By the way, you should try The Epicurean, we love it! (Going tonight)

  2. We didn’t order a test before we cruised. I boarded Britannia on 9th and was waiting to see if it changed to lft before we get back on 22nd. P&O don’t require you to have it ordered before letting you board. I was tempted to wait until early hours of 22nd to order lft, but daren’t risk it, so will fill out plf and order pcr some time in the next couple of days, so our tests will be waiting for us when we get home

Was a reason given for not docking in Livorno given that other ships are going into Italy from France, Spain and others?

I’m onboard too, it didn’t state a specific reason in the letter, but I’ve heard that Italy will only accept ships with 100% vaccinated passengers. As we have kids onboard they are, presumably, mostly not vaccinated.

Hello, not to be taken as financial advice!

If you hold your shares in a HL dealing account (not SIPP or ISA) then currently you will not pay any fees.  You will pay tax on total dividends received of more than £2000 and Capital gains of more than £12300 were you to sell the shares and make that much profit ( both on an annual basis)

Held in an isa you will not have either of those taxes, but you will pay a monthly fee for the privilege of them being in an isa account.  If you do not feel that it is likely that you will breach the annual dividend allowance or the annual Capital gains allowance then it may be cheaper to just hold the shares in a dealing account.

If you choose to go ahead, then you will pay the share price plus .5% stamp duty and a one off dealing fee.  As of now 100 X £15.80 so £1580 plus £7.90 stamp duty and £11.95 share dealing fee, £1599.85 in total.  Were you to put in £1650 you could purchase the shares and then withdraw the balance of cash that you haven't spent.

Thank you for this your reply, this is exactly the clarification that I needed 😄

  5. Hi can anyone give me some advice about how to buy Carnival shares? I've done lots of browsing, and have decided to buy 100 shares, possibly via Hargreaves Lansdown.

What I've not worked out, is how to pay for them. The price of the shares fluctuates during the day, so how much should I deposit into my account. I believe they take any fees direct from the account and can sell your shares to cover fees - I don't want this to happen as I need to hold 100 for the obc benefit.

Basically what I'm asking is how much extra I should put in the account to cover fees?

Am I over-thinking this and confusing myself? (Hahaha, not difficult!!)

All passengers booked on B123 had to pay the balance 90 days in advance, so you are not being disadvantaged in any way.

Ah, I must be getting my cruises mixed up (got a few booked) I wasn’t saying I’d been disadvantaged - I was fine about paying in full. Can’t wait to get back onboard 😀

  7. P&O are obviously trying to get some revenue in. I booked B123 9th October earlier this week and although people, booking earlier this year, don’t have to pay balance until 30 days before departure, I had to pay in full. Got a great price for the 3 of us though, paid less for a balcony than I was quoted for inside a couple of months ago 😃 (We’re joining a larger group of family members who booked last year)

  8. Hi, I booked Britannia B123 this week online. I'm joining some other family members who booked over a year ago. They all booked together and were given a 3 letter code to link their bookings. I didn't see anywhere at check out to add the code. Is my only option to phone to have this added, I've seen lots of comments on "book of face" saying how busy the call handlers are at the moment and don't want to add to their workload. Thanks 🙂

On the same itinerary on December 25th. Curious enough they just signed a deal with the Saudis and Bellissima will start cruises from Jeddah in just a couple of days time. Waiting to see if they allow people outside of Saudi Arabia.

Interesting 🤔 No mention of Magnifica. We are booked on Magnifica, for a fly/cruise direct to Jeddah in November, taking in Egypt and Jordan. She was due to be stretched and re-furbed, but that was delayed due to the pandemic. Wondering if we’ll have a change onto Bellissima 🤔

Has this been officially announced today? Very happy if so, as just booked yesterday for 9th October on Britannia 😀

As you may know, Magnifica was scheduled for a major stretch and refurbishment this year, but there was some question as to whether that would happen.  Just spoke to MSC this morning and apparently it will occur, beginning in August.

I had 2 sailings booked on Magnifica, one in Oct 2021 and another in Nov 2021.  The October sailing was put into NAR status and cancelled.  The agent told me the reason is due to the dry dock of the ship, which will begin sailing from Saudi Arabia in November.  My November sailing was put into LAY status and "they're doing something on that but they haven't announced what.  They might move you into another ship or they might just cancel it.  But right now, it looks like they'll probably put you into a similar sailing at the same price that you paid".

If anyone has a NAR sailing or LAY sailing, my suggestion is do not cancel it unless you are certain that the cruise itself is cancelled and not just moved to a temporary "placeholder" cruise on a different date.  Generally, prices have gone up, so if MSC moves you, your old price will likely remain the same.  If you move the sailing, you will pay prevailing prices.

Can I ask what the terms NAR and LAY mean please? We just booked around a month ago for the Nov 13th Saudi Arabia fly/cruise. I’ll be very annoyed if they  cancel. They shouldn’t take bookings if they  know that they are going to make changes. I was wondering about the break in service for around a week, before our cruise commences and wondering why they didn’t offer a re-positioning cruise from The Med, with Suez Canal Transit. Now, if they add that to our itinerary I’ll be very happy!

  12. I'm thinking about booking a fly/cruise (from UK) on MSC Magnifica, 13th Nov 2021, to Saudi Arabia/Egypt.
Looking at the schedule for the ship there seems to be a gap between the last Med itinerary 3rd Nov and the Saudi itinerary beginning on 13th Nov.

I can't see a repositioning cruise offered.  Anyone know if there is one? The ship willl need to go through the Suez Canal to get to the Red Sea, of course, so I would’ve thought they’d offer one!

I believe this is a completely new itinerary, anyone have any words of wisdom about Saudi Arabia? (I'm an experienced and adventurous traveller, so nothing will shock me!!)

    Thanks in advance 🙂

  13. Hi, I’m thinking about booking a cruise on Britannia in October (the last one before the ship sets off for the Caribbean season) as some friends have invited us to join them.

If I pay in full and the cruise is cancelled would I be able to use the future cruise credit against one of the 2 other cruises I have booked, in Feb 2022 & Mar 2023, or can you only use it on a completely new booking?
Asking as I don’t think we’d want to book anything else with P&O, as we also have 2 other holidays booked in 2022 & 2023.
    Thanks in advance

It's the same for all carnival brands. You need 100 shares, and stays the same no matter how much you own. Short cruises are 50, week long cruises are 100. I dont do many longer cruises so not sure where the break is, 10 or 14 days for more. Only the 3 amounts based on length.

Thank you for replying. We tend to do longer cruises. The 3 we have booked are 14,13 & 13 nights. I think that’s more of a Uk thing as we tend to get more paid vacation than in the USA.

Even though its pretty flat today even around some great industry news, just ike to point out to all the 'get ready for bankruptcy' people---the stock is up roughly 300% from a year ago. 300.

Still a good time to buy even today, if you're looking for the shares for OBC benefit.

I’m kicking myself for not buying last year! How much OBC is paid per cruise? Does it vary by length of cruise and is it the same amount for each cruise line in the Carnival group ?

I have 2 P&O and - 1 Carnival cruise booked over the next 18 months so far 😊

True but there is a very small chance that anyone with a UK passport will require 6  months to be left on their passport to enter any EU country.   Its very unlikely but is being talked about.  All up in the air at the moment.

It is already a requirement to have six months validity after your date of return

There are many cruise lines who board and disembark passengers at every port, so there doesn't seem to be the same rules they have in the US.

Best thing to do is call and ask.

I will be letting them know once we’re on the ship, but just wanted to be aware of anyone’s experience, just in case I needed fore-warning of any legislation. Thanks for your reply:classic_biggrin:

As long as you explain that he needs to leave at your last port there will be no issue. People have to fly home early for various reasons (family emergency etc).

Where is he at Uni? If he self disembarked, he could be off the ship in Southampton at 0730 and it’s only 15 mins to the station or motorway.

Unfortunately his exam is at 10am, he goes to University of Kent in Canterbury and he’d have to get there by public transport!

  19. We’re going on N905 Portugal, Spain & Gibraltar. Our son is coming on the Cruise with us, but will have to fly home from the last port (La Coruna), due to having to get back to Uni for an exam (which annoyingly is on the day we get back to Southampton, but his Uni is too far away for him to get back in time :classic_sad:). Anyone know of any reason why he wouldn’t be allowed  to disembark from there? I know in America it can be a problem for US citizens to cut a cruise short due to immigration issues, but as we’re EU citizens I’m assuming it will be ok? Anyone had any experience of this? Thanks in advance :classic_biggrin:
