  1. Your 7-day cruises will have 2 formal evenings on each.

Your 21 day cruise is, I believe, composed of a 7 day segment and a 14 day segment. The 7-day segment will have two formal evenings and the 14 day segment will have 3 formal evenings.

Thus, your 35 days on the Emerald will have a total of 9 formal evenings.

There will be theme nights on each segment. Some of them will be the same ones on all four segments. Examples include Rock & Roll night and country-western night. There will also be a deck party one evening on each segment.

The dining room menus will repeat on each segment. However the 14 day segment will also have seven new menus for the additional seven days.

Much of the entertainment will also repeat on each segment.

    Have a great cruise.

Each 7 day med cruise has 2 formal nights so if your doing a 14 nighter you'll have 4 formal nights as this is made up of 2 x 7 nights.

@ShaneRileyUK: .@GailJen5 Hi Gail, if your cruise is made up of 2 7 night cruises (as mine is) you will have 4.

@ShaneRileyUK: .@GailJen5 no don't worry the entertainment isn't repeated...you even get double captains cocktail party 😉

Can't comment on the other cruises, sorry

  2. Hi

My husband and I are thinking of taking the drinks package, has anyone else bought this package and what are your opinions? do you still pay the 15% gratuity.

We are joining the ship next Saturday and can't wait.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

My husband had the package last year and we feel it was worth it, especially getting water each day before leaving the ship, late night coffee etc

If you purchase via your personilizer you can pay in sterling £33 per day as previously posted we are getting a great exchange rate of $1.66 think it has to be done a week or so before cruising so don't leave too long

  3. I need photographic evidence so I can resolve an issue.

Gailjen...what you really mean is that you need a document to win a bet, right?

Like I said on a previous post,

it's Princess I need to convince which is why I need the photographic evidence.. But it can wait till I've sailed in August if I can't get before.

Skf you could call it a bet but if I'm right Princess will have to do some serious grovelling 😉

  4. Hi Everybody

I was the OP. We are back from our cruise which was on the Island departing Barcelona on 27 June. When we initially joined the ship the age was 21 after a couple of days it was lowered to 18. This was never officially announced but was on the small print on the back of the patter. The only reason I knew was I had been chatting with one of the Guest Entertainers and he told me they had lowered it. I can scan a copy of the back of a patter if anyone needs it. The staff were aware of the change. My daughter is a young looking 18 and was asked for ID - once the servers had seen it no issues.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Shirley

I would love a scanned copy very much 😀 Thanks in advance Shirley

  5. Hi. We go from Barcelona , Marseille, Genoa, Florence, sea day, Tunis, Sicily, Rome. So maybe Naples is a good guess.

This is the same itinerary as our first 7 days this year and we are going to Malta. Our second week the first stop is Naples after Rome so presume that's why it's Malta rather then Naples, I suggest you check out what the next 7 days itinerary is.

  6. We did have a wonderful time thanks. our itinerary had us stopping in Cannes, not Marseille. Sorry can't help with this one.

Thank-you for the reply, wish we were doing Cannes. Interesting about alcohol as we found that on all our Med cruises we could have & did bring bottles on.

Can you also confirm if the drinking age was still 18. Rather then the normal 21.

  7. They did not check us at all at any of our ports (just off Emerald Rome to Barcelona). Brought on wine at Civi in our carry-on. They did not ask about it. Bought 2 more bottles at a port - for us to bring home but they did not ask about it. Bought a bottle of limoncello at a port - again the bag went through the security scanner but nothing was said. Each time we were prepared to either pay the $15 per bottle fee or have the bottles put aside until the last night however we were not questioned once. I have found sailing out of Fort LauderdLe and the Caribbean ports to be quite different (more vigilance)but I bet everyone posting after me will have quite different and varied experiences. No two will be the same.

Hope you had a Great time, just picking your brain as we are cruising on Emerald in a few weeks, was the free port shuttle bus in Marseille in operation, any details please?

  8. I was just looking at a Google Map and saw that if one was going to cruise from (the port near) Rome to Kotor, Athens or any Eastern Med location, that the ship passes the island of Sicily. At first I just figured the ship would round Siciliy counterclockwise but when I zoomed in I noticed that there was a strait between Messina at the NW corner of Sicily and the very end of the tip of the boot of the Italian mainland which would be a shorter clock-wise sailing.

It appears the latter route would shorten a cruise by six or so hours (just guessing). Does anybody know which route Princess uses or favors to go from Rome to anywhere in the Eastern Med and if it's not the Messina route, may I ask why not?

Below is an arbitrary map I found of the area to put things into better perspective (and yes, I'm thinking I don't want to sail anywhere NEAR Tunis during Ramadan...).

We sailed through the Strait of Messina last year on the Regal just before sunset and we saw Dolphins, it was spectacular. Definetly think the straits will be the route.

This year we are sailing from Livorno to Malta (originally Tunis ) so going around Sicily, we then go back to Rome and Naples then through the straights to Crete.

  9. Just had confirmation via Twitter with @ShaneRileyUK'

“@ShaneRileyUK: Hi Gail, if your cruise is made up of 2 7 night cruises (as mine is) you will have 4.

I also asked about entertainment/movies being repeated and he replied

@ShaneRileyUK:no don't worry the entertainment isn't repeated...you even get double captains cocktail party 😉

    40 days and counting 🚢

  10. The information is incorrect, you will have four formal evenings 😵

It is an IT problem. The code just assumes that a cruise of any length is a single segment. They do not have the logic to look at the booking and say "Oh, two segments, so number formal evenings will be the number on the first segment + the number on the second segment."

So that would mean we have 4 formal nights

Thanks for all your replies, the reason I ask is we are doing the 14 nighter which is cruise number E531A our son is getting on 7 days later in Rome cruise number E532 so need to know how many outfits we all need.

luv2snrkl I am on the Athens to Istanbul and after an overnight in Istanbul go on to Rome. Booked as a 14 day cruise, but getting credited for 2 cruises. Our information states 3 formal nights, but I'm not sure which 3 nights it will be.

Off topic and if possible as I appreciate your on holiday, could you photograph a patter showing the drinking age as 18, it would be much appreciated 😀
