My NCL for our October Joy cruise hasn't been showing the restaurant listing either.   It does show shore excursion.

We are about 10 days from when we should be able to book dining so I hope it shows up soon🤞

Please come back to post whether you are or are not able to make those specialty dining reservations.  I'm perplexed by the missing restaurant listing, but it could be some type of an error.  Fingers crossed that you'll be able to book your dining choices!

  2. @snorklinbarbI've attempted to make a mock booking utilizing two different web browsers, and I received the "0 Matching Cruise Results" message no matter the web browser being utilized.

Like you, we've been wanting to cruise aboard the Joy too!  I'm not opposed to a ship swap, but I'd probably look into other travel options OR just stay home.

  3. @KKBI have no insight to offer, but we are booked on the NCL Joy 11/27/2021 departure.  Our reservation has had me skeptical for many weeks after I noticed the restaurant listing amongst other things no longer appeared on the MyNCL "explore & plan" tab.  As I stated on our Roll Call, I'm not holding my breath that this cruise is actually going to sail.

NCL could also swap the Joy for a different ship in the fleet.  It's just speculation on my part.

It is a good move on the part of NCL.

Completely agree!  I have our FCC and most Cruise Next Certificates sitting on a British Isles cruise and the Prima TA in 2022, so I’ve been disinclined to front any cash to NCL for a November 2021 departure.  I’m ecstatic that we have until late September to make the decision on final payment.

  5. Up until earlier today, cruises scheduled to depart on November 1, 2021 or after have been subject to the final payment date of 120 days prior to departure.  I have followed this situation very closely, as we are NCL loyalists with 4 canceled cruises, FCC and more than a handful of Cruise Next Certificates,

Thanks for posting the link to the updated payment schedule and penalties @CaptainWoody.

This is kinda old news. i think they did this a few months ago

I am booked on the Breakaway from October 2021. my final payment was the first week of july and now it is sometime in September.

From what i remember, they changed the final payment due date from 120 days to now just 60 days

This change was only for departures on or before October 31, 2021.

  7. We are scheduled on the Joy departing Miami on 11/27.  I noticed that our final payment has changed to 60 days prior to departure when looking at my reservation approximately an hour ago.  I was hoping that the final payment schedule would be adjusted so we could postpone making a decision on making that final payment.  It’s a welcome change for us.

  8. Sid is correct if the OP's booking is an NCL U.S. booking, but it appears from the screen shot that this may be a UK booking.  The Terms & Conditions of the package offerings are different for UK bookings.  It appears that the 20% Beverage Package gratuities are not an additional cost as it once use to be for U.S. bookings.

  9. Such irony that you've missed Haugesund twice!  Like you, we would cruise the identical itinerary again too.  I've never been much for the mega-ships, but I thoroughly enjoyed Getaway and all she had to offer.

You were lucky to get that February 2020 completed.  It sounds like an amazing cruise especially with the viewing of the Northern Lights.  I hope to see them and no better place than Norway.  Our last cruise was a short one on the Sun in December 2019.  We splurged on an Aft Penthouse, which was money well spent looking back.  Like you, we've had some cancelled cruises.  We have 4 booked, and I'm starting to become concerned with those.  We are booked on the Joy in November, Breakaway in March 2022, Dawn in June 2022 (British Isles) and a TA on Epic in December 2022.

Our original plan was to book the Leonardo build for her first TA in late 2022, but I'm not sure what that timeline looks like with delays.  I follow that thread, but I just haven't posted over there.

I miss cruising too.  I miss seeing reviews and active threads to read on Cruise Critic that are of substance outside of Covid.  Perhaps we'll be on a future cruise together.

    seems nobody heard something?

Hi Steff79 and greetings from snowy Chicagoland!  We sailed with you on the 14-night Norwegian Fjords & Scotland itinerary immediately following Getaway's last dry dock.  I've finally gotten around to working on our photo album from that cruise.  Looking back at the photos is bringing back such fond memories with exception of the two missed ports.  I hope you are doing well in Germany, as we all await a hopeful return to cruising!

I don't have an immediate answer to your question regarding the two-week gap in 2002, but I do remember reading or hearing something about that gap.  I will give it some thought and will be sure to post an answer when/if memory serves.  I know you're active on the Leonardo thread, so I'll jump in there if I lose track of this thread.

    All the best.

I have the 50 dollar excursion credit, but there isnt really one i want to book. Should i book the skyride excursion at $21 pp just to get off the ship faster as it wouldnt cost me anything? Thoughts?

If you are referring to the SkyRide in St Thomas, the excursion ticket is not a timed ticket.  There is no set meeting time for this excursion.  You would simply walk off the ship, and present your NCL excursion ticket for admittance onto the tram once you arrive.  The excursion ticket is valid anytime during the SkyRide business hours during your day in port.

We have taken advantage of the SkyRide tickets in St Thomas through NCL with the Shore Excursion Credit, as they are essentially free.

it is indeed Hanno, on the Getaway now.

I hope you are having a wonderful cruise aboard Getaway!  We have an upcoming 14-night cruise on Getaway, and I'm wondering how long Hanno will be onboard.  I have had a couple previous cruises with him as the concierge and would be delighted to see him again.

    Save travels and happy cruising!

    Congratulations!

We are on your same cruise - and counting the days! Originally we were going to put in a pathetically low bid on the GV just to say "we tried" - however, after seeing that no GV was available (and staying in an H4 which is my dream suite) we chose to stay out of the fray. I am so happy for you and your family - the Gem is great...the suite life is even better!!!

    Amy

We plan to do the Haven at some point, but we will only do that on one of Norwegian's mega-ships.  We sailed the Inaugural on the Escape several years ago, and some friends of ours were in the Haven.  We were given a brief tour, and we know enough to realize that the smaller NCL ships don't offer what we would be looking for when it comes to the Haven experience.  Ironically, the Escape has been my least favorite of the Norwegian ships.   We really enjoy the Jewel Class most of all as well as the Sun.

I'm thrilled that you are in your "dream suite".  I know you'll enjoy the private Haven pool area, and my husband is jealous.  I put in a pathetic bid for the H4 knowing that it would not be enough.  He'll survive with the SC, and we can use the second bedroom to store our luggage.  😳  We will enjoy the suite perks; I've been lucky enough to have them once in the past while sailing in a balcony cabin......long story as to how that came to be!

See you onboard in a couple weeks; join the Roll Call for the Meet & Greet if you are interested.

  14. We have just received THE email everyone bidding waits to receive........."You've been awarded an upgrade advantage!"

We are sailing on the Gem departing from NYC on November 15th so we are 17 days away from sail-away.  We were originally booked in a BB category balcony stateroom on Deck 10, and we will now be in an SC 2-bedroom family suite!  We were also bidding on two different Haven categories, and all of my bids were bare minimum.  I modified our bids lowering them after noticing that the minimum bids had been lowered on the upgrade advantage site roughly 10 days ago.  Everyone needs to periodically check to see if that's the case for your respective sailings.

It's been 18 years since we've sailed in a suite; we're looking forward to it as it may be another 18 years before we're in a suite again! 😳

Yureka!  Finally found it....Thanks for you help!!  I feel so silly been on these boards forever never had such an issue before!

YAY!!  You're back home to you Roll Call!  Have a great cruise, and we'll try to take good care of the Gem for you.

I'm pretty sure that is exactly what I'm doing...but still only see Nov 15th as the last one... Thanks for your help

Let me know when you get back how you enjoyed it!

I just noticed something else.......be sure you are clicking on the Norwegian Gem Roll Calls and not the line of text below that the begins with a star icon followed by the language "Find Your Norwegian Gem Roll Call".  When I did the latter, I could not locate your Roll Call either.

Why does this have to be so darn complicated??

  17. Ah, I understand the issue now.  After the update to Cruise Critic, I had the same issue when utilizing the "Find Your Roll Call" function.  I was able to easily locate my Roll Call by going to the Roll Call section on the homepage of the boards, then choosing NCL, and finally choosing the Norwegian Gem section.  Make sense?  That's how I went about checking to make sure your Roll Call was still there a few minutes ago.

You'll be embarking the Gem as we disembark.  Happy day for you, sad day for us!
