  1. Does MSC have a program where you can purchase bottled liquor for consumption in your cabin?

No they do not,,nips are available in the stateroom mini-bar,,:)

  2. NCL and Carnival let you order a bottle of booze from room service/guest relations while you are on the ship.

Does MSC have a similar program? If so, anyone have a list of pricing?

You can order a bottle of wine, prosecco, or champagne available through MSC's special moments,,liquor is not available but small nips are available in the stateroom mini-bar:https://www.msccruisesusa.com/en-us/Already-Booked/Cruise-Upgrade/Special-Moments-Packages.aspx

  3. I wonder if it has anything to do with Venice planning to ban big ships from sailing the Grand Canal? There was a lot of talk about it for a while, it was to be postponed then it all seemed to fizzle out  I've noticed it's all Musica class ships sailing from Venice now.

I watched a youtube video of MSC Musica sailing through the Grand Canal during one of those protests. I really can't blame the Venetians for wanting to preserve their waterways though. I remember reading an article about the re-location of the big ship terminals but haven't heard anything about the new proposal since.

  4. I was on Magnifica (same class as Musica) in April - first time on an MSC ship smaller than the Fantasia class - it was one of the best cruises I've been on! I really believe it came down to the captain. He attended the Black Card assembly (there were only about 20 of us onboard yet he took the time, unlike other Black Card gatherings on other ships where you were lucky if even officers attended). I can't remember his name but he was the best captain I've met so far! His fantastic attitude seemed to permeate the ship and I really experienced how much the captain can influence the atmosphere onboard. At least, that's my reading of the overall vibe. I hope you experience it on your cruise.

We always had a great time onboard MSC Divina when Captain Scala was commanding the ship. He always made himself available whenever we would see him on deck or in Le'Muse,,unfortunately he's not onboard any longer. Unfortunately there aren't many roll calls for MSC Musica so I may have a hard time finding out who the captain onboard might be when it's time for us to sail,,

  5. Does anyone know what type is available and what it cost trying to avoid a checked bag but realized I can't pack suntan lotion or aerosal spray. Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to stop at a Walgreens or CVS on the way to the port to pick some up,,it will definitely be much cheaper and you'll have a larger variety to choose from.:)

  6. Next best thing, eh, Mike? We convince ourselves it is but it really isn't - nothing substitutes for YC. I say that as someone who's booked in an Aurea suite on Sinfonia for 24 nights from Venice to Durban. There's also access to the private solarium, which, while it's not the same as the One Pool, it does offer a more relaxing experience to the main pool area.

Yes Bea!!! It's unfortunate that none of the Fantasia class ships are sailing the Eastern route from Venice,:( but we have no problem sailing on one of the Musica class ships,,in fact,,we can't wait to try one of the smaller ships!!:D

  7.

Hopefully the above link works to a sketch on YouTube of Michael McIntyre a uK comedian about booking a holiday and trip advisor.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

HILARIOUS!!!! That was me when I was searching for our hotel in Venice on Trip Advisor.:D However,,I took my research a step beyond and watched every youtube video, looked at every photo, and read every review, from every travel blogger I could find. In the end,,we are looking forward to spending 5 nights at the Hotel Al Ponte Antico on the Grand Canal,,:D

  8. If I was on a Musica class ship that is where I would want to be, the Aurea balcony suites.

I tried to get one for my recent Orchestra cruise and couldn't get one for the whole 28 days, so not wishing to move cabins half way through settled for an Aurea balcony instead.

Great it's on the port side for the sail out from Venice, If you are a Black member you'll be able to crack open your Champagne (Oops!! Silly me it's only Prosecco now :D:D:D) as you sail past St. Mark's square.

Make sure you get your priority boarding.

Enjoy the free massage, I would recommend the "Hot stone" massage. it's brilliant.

Also make full use of the "Top 16 deck", that too is brilliant, look out for the free fruit kebabs they give out.

Give the old Allegrissimo package a good belting, if you like dessert wine you get that served after dinner,.

Have a great cruise on Musica..

    Pete

Many Thanks Pete!!! I was originally considering 15001 but after watching a few videos of MSC Musica, I noticed the balcony is a steel/plexi glass combination,,definitely didn't want that, so thankfully only 3 or 4 Aurea suites are booked for June 2017 so we had a great selection to choose from!!:)

  9. I could be wrong as I haven't been able to locate the previous policy, but if you booked in the US. and cancelled before the 75 day full payment deadline, you were refunded whatever payments were made. The same policy was different for those booking in the UK however,,,

  10. Hi all,

I just went to check and see if my voyager points had been added for my two cruises of June 18-July 2. Instead, I could not log in and had an invalid password. Is anyone else having log on problems or did they delete my account? That would be odd to do that unless they don't plan on fulfilling their status match program after the initial cruise.

For those who do have accounts, how long after sailing does it usually take for points to show on line?

I didn't have any problems logging into my account using my e-mail address. If your still having problems,,a call to MSC may be necessary to access your account. Points will normally show up between 30 and 60 days after your sailing.:)

  11. That sounds awesome Mike...YOU WILL LOVE VENICE!!...Don't forget to order one of their specialties...Spaghetti con le seppie! BEST meal of the trip...and I ate a lot of good food!!!

I'm going on a Disney cruise in a few weeks and will probably do a review on that one, but it will obviously be in the Disney sub-forum here on CC...not sure if it will be live though as I don't know what kind of internet plans Disney has. :D

And yes, I am a bit bummed about not sailing the Meraviglia in 2018, but I want to be able to enjoy the MED sea as both my DD and I love the ocean....so another time!

You weren't able to re-book for maybe June 2017 Love2?? It's only 3 months later??;)

  12. I am curious if there is a benefit to prepaying for your beverage packages? I see they have beer packages, wine packages. Just curious if there is any savings, and if not, where do you buy these packages on the ship?

If you pre-purchase your beverage package,,you will save the 15% gratuity if you were to purchase onboard.:)

  13. Sorry to hear that Love2!!!:( I was looking forward to another one of your reviews!!:) I've been doing my homework regarding our future sailing on MSC Musica. After speaking to a friend who has sailed onboard MSC Musica as well as your review of Venice,,we have decided to shoot for a June 25th 2017 sailing with a 3 night pre-cruise stay at the Al Ponte Antico Hotel as well as 2 nights post-cruise. :D

  14. Going off the side view photo the next blocks to the left will be where the angled cabins will be.

If that's the case Sid,,,there are 26 staterooms plus the aft wrap suites and then the aft pool,,so there are quite a few more stern hull blocks that need to be laid down!!!

  15. From the look of the floor blocks there are more stern blocks to go in yet, the White painted areas Left and Right between deck 4 and 5 as you count from the flat area is where the Lifeboats go. Check out the side view picture from a few days ago.

Most definitely Sid!!! Looks like quite a few more blocks to!!! If you look really close,,you can barely make out the davits for those lifeboats,,:)

  16. So, Yacht Club is/can be a ship within a ship, such as NCL Haven?

I want the Haven experience. Does the Divina have it's own pool (One Pool?) and

I am guessing that Top Sail is the YC Restaurant?

A: Yes,,The Yacht Club One Pool And Bar Has it's own pool and 2 jacuzzi's. The Top Sail is a Yacht Club Lounge on deck 15 of the Yacht Club, not to be confused with Le'Muse which is the Yacht Club dedicated restaurant.

Can we wake up and spend the day in the Yacht Club area, so we have food, drinks and pool/loungers?

A: Yes,,if we are not in port, we primarily spend most of our day relaxing on the pool deck.

I thought the Yacht Club had unlimited alcohol package but now after reading your review and other comments it looks as if I can only get the "included" alcohol at the YC? I thought I read on the website it was all included but perhaps I am mistaken.

A: All alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages are included within the confines of the Yacht Club,,even the mini-bar in your stateroom. Rumor has it that this will change to include the entire ship in 2017 but nothing set in stone as of yet.
